I have a VW Polo too. :) It's my first car also - they're very nice to drive and feel much nicer than similar cars in the same range (i.e Fiesta, Punto).

They have maybe a £400 premium on the aforementioned cars though.

What plate is it? I bet the insurance is rocketed though...

I don't know the plate of it haha. It's the new model but it's original owner bought it on release so I think December 2005? It's back a couple of pages. (it's post #753). How do I find out the plate?

Insurance is about a grand :(

I'm in northern Ireland though so that's cheap

Fair play. I've been looking at getting a Fiesta, but can't get the new one cheap enough for my wallet :(

Love the look of it though. :)

Jeff: Buying a used rental car is kind of like going to a house of ill repute looking for a wife. Anything that's been driven that hard by that many people, you really don't want to put your key in it.
[about rental car employees who ask if he wants the additional insurance]
Jeff: I say "Yes, I would. 'Cause you've got a Ford Fiesta that's about to see more air time than a skateboard at the X-Games."

Used, is always a good option?

I'm guessing Mom and Dad bought that for you?

I see nothing wrong with that, since it's not an overly nice car (It is, but not BMW/MB/ETC Nice). It's a cheap, affordable, but new, and reliable car. If his parents can afford to buy him a new reliable car, then great for his parents. At least he will not be stranded and still has the want to work for something nicer or faster.

This was my car for the weekend.

3.0D
Automatic / Tiptronic transmission
nippy cruising speed ;)

Went up to see grandad for the weekend, about a 3hr drive to get to his so decided to take the Jeep rather than my cramped little car :D

Very comfortable car for the long journey, plus playing around with the on board computer was stacks of fun ;)

I was this close to closing on a Corolla XRS, but ended up getting a 2009 Prius.

Parents finance the vehicle, I pay for it. The payments are bearable (about 400 including my insurance, GAP, extended warranty).

This baby pulls me nearly 400+ miles per fill. My truck that I still have gets like 150+ (if I'm lucky, haha).

And when I get my degree in 4 years, I can choose whatever car I want...

Well, good for you for doing the sensible thing. I would've gone with the XRS in a heartbeat. lol.
