Is that picture suppose to be funny...

I found it funny. I'm Canadian, after all, so I don't take it personally.

Seriously though, you just gotta take it with a grain of salt. This is not even a crude representation of the average american's mind. However, there are some exceptions, which fit in what the map represents.

I'm not saying this is unique to some americans. There are people like that (ignorant about everything but their country) everywhere in the world.

lol, let me ask you a stupid question that's off topic:

Do you consider American cars not American if they are made in Mexico or Canada?

I suppose this is the fault of our education system. Something about teaching people that there's North America and South America, so "America" covers everything from Canada to the tip of Argentina.

This is so true.

I wouldn't be seen dead in those things!

anything from japan and china is JUNK, german stuff is junk that costs to much.

id rather push an american car or walk then drive or ride in anything else.

How sophisticated and intelligent! No, honestly, I mean it!

Anyway, there is a term for this but I just can't remember. Maybe it's 'red car'... No... maybe 'red head' or 'red meat'...

Anyway, thinking about it, you shouldn't comment on cars. One of the pictures that you posted shows a truck, the other one is some old garbage from a junk yard. If that's something that you like, I have to laugh!

Wow, flames on a ranger. Stay classy, USA.

If I may chime in, my parents bought me a '97 Yukon because the roads and university were banging up my bimmer, and it's been great to me. Sure, the transmission and differential exploded, but for some reason I love it. It has, however, reaffirmed my idea that no american truck is worth buying unless it's 10 years old and going to be driven extremely roughly. No american car is worth buying ever, except the ZR-1.

I see a lot of idiocy and fanboyism on both sides of the fence.

I have rebuttals for every thing brought up:

FLAMES! ZOMG REDNECK!.. yes, and putting giant coffee can exhaust and/or VTEC/TRD stickers all over a Japanese car is any better.

THE DRAG STRIP IS BS! So is putting a bunch of cones in a parking lot and calling it autocrossing. Going fast in a straight line is an excuse for a car that can't handle? Getting the best track time on a parking lot track is a perfect example of trying to feel good that you can't afford anything better than an econobox.

SMALL CARS ARE SO AWESOME! and the Golf fanboy doesn't recognize that VW loves selling Audis and Bentleys?

@ the Yukon owner: Your parents bought you an SUV so you wouldn't trash your Bimmer? From the sounds of things no car would survive your abuse. Perhaps that's what's wrong with people, when you buy a car it has required maintenance on not just the engine, but sometimes suspension and drivetrain parts need maintenance or replacing.

No, you have straw men. Nobody in this thread has endorsed ricers and silly stickers. You're the first person to mention autocrossing.
Who, exactly, do you think you're rebutting? Not any of us, that's for sure.

ProTip: There is no fence and there are more than two sides.

I'll mention it now then. I like autocrossing. Though, for reference, my Talon that I use will also run low 11's in the 1/4, so I don't think it qualifies as an "econobox" like he thinks everyone runs with. ;)

hey theres just as much suspension in a straight line car as there is in a car that goes left n right. the big misconception in 1/4 mile racing is the only way to make a car quicker is to have more horsepower, not true. in my tbird i run about 5-8 miles per hour slower then some other people yet we have the same ET's, my suspension is setup for it.

If I may chime in, my parents bought me a '97 Yukon.... my bimmer, .

mommy and daddy buy you that too? go get a job buy your own stuff.

See the resemblance?

no comment, but thats kinda funny.

*sigh*

I seriously lol'd at this. I'm gonna keep enjoying driving my Acura (which by the way was made in Ohio, USA). And I guess it's good that you do maintenance yourself since your cars haved to be Fixed Or Repaired Daily :p

It's a good thing you'd rather push your American car than drive a Japanese one, because i'm guessing you push those ugly POS all over the place. You must be in good shape.

Let's put it this way: If you design a track to fit a Miata, even if the bigger cars could outperform it, they wouldn't fit it in the first place so they wouldn't be able to race without knocking all of the cones down regardless.

Then again, most of the guys that race Jettas in parking lots don't have the balls to own a Miata. :D

A dragstrip is not "the track." A track is "the track." The dragstrip is just a tiny driveway where the crappy cars that can't turn have to go to make noise.

Drag cars and track cars are two completely different things, why try to compare one to the other? Some people like drag racing others like going to the "track", who cares...

2G. It's a '97 TSi AWD, and yea, it is my 4th I've owned as well (1G, 1G-T, 1G-AWD, 2G-AWD). I never owned multiples at a time, just kept replacing them as I went along. It doesn't get driven much anymore. Mainly just a toy for tinkering with... when it isn't broken... which isn't often. ;)

Ah nice..
I currently own a 97 Tsi AWD, and a 95 GSX. The talon is the daily driver (well supposed to be, just finished installing a tranny only to learn the seals are bad.)
Others were a 1G AWD, and another 2G talon AWD.

The eclipse is the long term project. Currently has no motor in it, and been tempted to just sell it as a shell.

Here is a picture of my talon...

Would post my eclipse, but it is quite ugly in its unfinished state :D
