As rare as it is that we get a nice enough day in Northern Ireland to go with the roof down, today was the day. Some very nice cars in this thread. :)

I finished raising my Golf today, way more ground clearance then my Jetta.

I still might get some taller snow tires for it, then it will be a great winter car.

I own a '00 Integra GS-R sedan (only have some old pics with old wheels) and a 1995 Mazda Miata R-package pictured here:

Wouldn't trade this for anything. Still has original paint and interior.

havnt seen every page in the thread yet but im almost certain this is the one to beat.

Here's my recent pickup... wrecked the Cutlass and snagged a super clean Caprice, 350 V8 with fuel injection.

The one to beat? I would take just about every car posted on every page of this thread before you would catch me dead in that Caprice.

I was reffering to my the post I quoted which is of a Buick Grand National. Even if I owned the Grand National I would never be that conceited. In this world there is always someone with something better.

ugh...donks

Technically not a donk, it's considered a Box... plus there was no lifting involved. 22s fit with no problem. In fact, the height of these wheels including the tire is only a half inch taller than the stock 15" wheels and tires. Everything else is stock except for the Crate 350 V8 engine.

Haven't bought it yet, but in the market for a new car for the SO for the coming winter months here in the East coast. She doesn't drive too much, but enough highway and backroads during her commute to make me worry sometimes.

I'm currently deciding between the Infiniti FX50S or the BMW X6 x50i, and knowing me I would love to go with the Infiniti just because I'm driving the previous gen. FX45. The SO on the other hand absolutely the X6 since they came out and every time she sees one she goes gaga over it. Advice anyone?

I'm biased since I have an Infinti G37S .... but I LOVE the FX... I would go Infiniti.

But, if you want to try something new, the BMW is an amazing car as well!

Thanks man, that's why I love these cars. Only a few 'get it'. I could easily snag an '05 BMW for the same price and blend in but I'd rather grab something that holds its value.
I don't get it, that's for damned sure. You've ruined the car by adding those wagon wheels.

Not that it was a great car to begin with, but now you've degraded almost every performance metric imaginable. It's slower, handles worse, is less economical, is less reliable, and all around a worse car than it was when new.

I'm as tolerant as most when it comes to variety in cars, but I'll never understand cars like this. 100% form over function. Why?

I drove a rental X6 when I was getting my (dads) car serviced, and it was really fun. I couldn't imagine either of these vehicles being any better in the snow than a FWD sedan though. The extra heft you're lugging around means the traction you gain from a AWD vehicle in the snow is seldom worth it. If it was 4WD with lockers, that would be a decent tradeoff. If you're worried about her in the snow you should probably remember that 4WD/AWD only helps you get going, once you're moving it's actually easier to lose control of your vehicle (especially with dynamic performance control on the X6. I don't know if the FX50 has a similar system).

Also, it's much, much easier to get an AWD vehicle stuck in the snow or the mud, because of how they transfer power between the wheels rather than locking them all together.

That being said the X6 was tonnes of fun to drive and I kinda felt sad when I had to give it back. Even though it kind of looks like a dog taking a poo, it was extremely fun to be "seen in" and it had a pretty nice interior as well. Not to mention the cabin was very cozy and visibility was pretty excellent all around (despite the windows in the back being kind of small). You could also throw a surprising amount of stuff into it.

You should screw the safety and get her an X6M!
