No rush, I don't buy new anyway. Let someone else pay for the depreciation. Could always go with a Caterham as well... (I think....haven't looked into used prices for those...)

It also wouldn't surprise me if I change my mind again, but damn do they look to be perfect for AutoX....

BTW, I hate iMovie.....I should buy Final Cut Express to cut this AutoX footage together, but I don't believe it will take 60fps footage. Well, it's not letting me import it, and currently too sunburned and whooped to look into it....iMovie is just a PITA to use when one is used to better software from days gone by when I had access to the college labs)

Here is my brother Auto-slaloming my raised Golf with a 2.slow.

He got 3rd place out of about 22 cars. I didn't do so good with my VR6 but I had a blast.

Link to a video of one of my first runs, never auto-slalomed before.

Well, you are right when it comes to driving fast in populated areas, noone should ever do it, but on an empty highway or whatever, 100 isnt that much of a safety issue.

100mph on the properly designed, and maintained roads of Europe is entirely different from the irregularly paved, inconsistent surface of the NJTP.

At times, 75 feels unsafe on the NJTP, particularly if the road surface is wet, snowy, damp or even just covered in dew.

Also, considering the speed limit of the NJTP ranges from 55-65 depending on what segment you're in, there's no reason to be doing 150% of posted speed limit.

That stands true of any location. The limits are posted for a reason, if the roadway were designed to accomodate higher speeds, the limits would be higher (ala Europe, the Autobahn etc).

My old car, prior to the kids. I had kept it around as a spare/weekend car but now with 2 kids and no room in the garage nor the time.. it made more sense to sell it. Sold it a couple of months back, great car.

Here's the daily driver nowadays, just as fun but holds much more.

Nice A3 :)

My car is REALLY really really dirty right now :(

Looks like a B7 A4 Avant to me.

Yeah you're right, it's an 08' A4 Avant. It's APR Tuned and have a set of coilovers waiting to be installed to further enhance the driving experience.

2003 Silverado. 3/4 drop. Rides terrible.

I gotta ask: What is it about GM trucks that makes people that drive them want to tailgate so bad? Because whenever I have high beams flooding my car and a car half an inch from my bumper it seems to be a silverado lol

I don't think it's exclusive to GM trucks. Here in SoCal, it seems that it's always the lifted full size trucks that are tailgating, making quick no-signal lane changes, passing in the right hand exit only lanes and just driving reckless in general. I try to avoid these vehicles if at all possible

Actually, pretty much everyone in SoCal drives like a aggressive moron.

Except for me, of course.

This is my 2001 Honda Accord EXL. It's a great car for a 17-year-old.

And passing after the passing lane...or in the left hand lane after it has ended...ugh. So many times I am merging from the right hand lane after it has ended only to almost be taken out by someone trying to pass ONE more car....and then be stuck behind them in the twisties on 154 from Santa Barbara to Solvang. People slow down much too much in the corners....another "ugh." If only I were a cop, then I'd nail these bastards, but alas they don't drive the same around a black and white.

Avant Avant Avant Avant Avant Avant STATION WAGON!

Why do car companies try to avoid using that phrase so much o_O It's like if you call a car a wagon it's destined to doom and failure. It has to be a crossover vehicle, or an SUV, or.. an avant.. or a hatch.

Station wagon :O heaven forbid.

Kombinationskraftwagen or "Kombi" can be used to refer to vehicles ranging from vans to estate cars. There's no exact translation from "station wagon" that works without context since it's a term that's only used in English outside of the UK.

The Brits use the term, but think of something more along the lines of a Defender with rear seats (also a Kombi).

In the States, marketing a car as a "station wagon" is a massive handicap thanks to the crap cars that came from American manufacturers for so many years. That stigma, and the crap sales from it, is the reason we don't get better wagons in the States.

Not my fault you can't tell the difference between a station wagon and a hatchback.
:p

My thoughts exactly...

Fair warning on the Elise/Exige for Solo 2. The C64 gearbox does not like to be repeatedly launched and hates fast shifting even more. If you drive the car at its limit, you *will* find its weaknesses.

Nothing else (road legal, anyway) comes close to the amount of feedback the chassis provides though. That feedback will make you a better driver and it will do so quickly.

If you get serious, feel free to PM me and I'll send you my number. I'm the president of a Lotus Ltd. chapter. Alternatively, seek out your local chapter for advice/assistance in evaluating any used ones you're interested in.

Not my car, but my sisters. She just picked it up yesterday:

5696900175_ae74f76a36_z.jpg

2011 Black/Black Sentra w/ 3K miles & clean CarFax. Dealer was asking $17,2xx, and she got it down to $15,5xx.

Really proud of her, as she's only 18. She saved and put down a large deposit all by herself, got a loan by herself and without a co-signer, and dealt with the dealer and signed the papers herself. I feel bad, as she's forced to compare herself to her friends in school who drive BMWs, Escalades, and Mustangs. But she did really well for herself.

Anyway, she was looking at some other vehicles that are a tad more fun or nicer, but they came with a lot more miles and shorter warranties. She wanted peace of mind going through school, and chose to play it smart. The Sentra has a 3yr/36K Bumper to Bumper, and 7yr/100K Powertrain warranty.
