Quick question - where did you find that desktop wallpaper?

That 15" matte sure looks gorgeous. 100x better than the glossy! :)

From the looks in the picture the matte looks much brighter (same as the previous gen comparisons of glossy vs. matte, the matte in real life when I owned both were much brighter and had more pop to it compared to the glossy).

I don't know if this affects brightness, but the two Macbook Pro's in the picks have different screens. The model with the SD slot (the newer one) has the better Color options that were introduced with the 17" model. That was not present on the Macbook Pro with the Express Card Slot.

Love the matte option, wish I could have got that on my 13in, looks way better then the black too IMO.

Here's an interesting question, does the matte version weigh less then the glossy version? I would assume removing the glass would reduce the amount of weight on the MBP, question is just how much?

My guess it that it would reduce the weight. Would it reduce it enough to have different specs (like 6.5lbs vs 6.6 on the 17", 5.4lbs vs 5.5lbs 15"), I don't think it would.

some images of it in the apple store.
the guy said there was only one in the store, and its the one on display. The sign said 'high resoultion antiglare' like the 17". An error?
Also a glassbook pro, to show the store lighting.
You decide. I like matte.

the screen looks a bit grainy on the matte and not as good as the glossy by far (minus the reflection)...hopefully thats just your camera...

Thanks. Clearly show just how reflective the glassy ones are.

I don't like how glossy it is, but the black border definitely looks better IMO.

I have the same thoughts, the new silver border just doesn't look good when compared to the black one. The MBP is just too silver .. and I personally like the uMBP's way more than the old Powerbooks people see in this new matte screen border.

Plus, I currently have a Vista HP Laptop with a black border and a glossy screen, which I always use indoors .. so I won't be having that glare problem with my glossy screen I will be buying with my MBP soon.

purchase question!

the most important question for me regarding matte - IS IT GRAINY? i know the previous mbp screens as well as other laptop matte screens had this issue with lcd screens had this issue before the new screens in uMBP screens. so with the new screens with matte - is the problem (grainy) now gone?

can someone provide ACTUAL good photos of a uMBP for us to see with a matte screen? because every photo so far has shown that it has grainy issues still...:(

this would definetely aid in my purchase decision. thank you.

The glossy and matte screens are the exact same LCD panels, one just has glass over it. Therefore any amount of grainyness would be more from looking straight into the panel rather than having the glass buffer to create an illusion of smoothing...

I have seen them in person and the matte looked very nice.

What are you using for the linear calendar on the bottom of the screen?

so were the colors great on it? did you have the chance to play any videos on it? sorry for the questions - but, due to my location - i have no ability to view one for myself...so my purchase is based on others opinions and interactions with the matte screen.

Have to say I went into the Apple store today and saw the matte side by side with the glassy and was impressed with the matte as the reflections on the glassy were extreme. The matte also didn't appear to suffer the same loose hinge problem that is blighting and infuriating the glassy owners. That is assuming they hadn't tightened it in-store.

DEFINITELY CONSIDERING MATTE.

What didn't the photos I originally took and posted not show that you need to see?

It's called DateLine. It's great. Stays at desktop icon level and when you double click a date, it pulls it up in iCal.

Can you confirm that the hinge on the matte is not as loose to the glassy one?

i like the anti-glare screen but aesthetically its so ugly on the 17" that i want the glossy when i order my 17 incher

the colored bars looked awkward and wasn't sure if it was the result of the wallpaper itself? is there any chance of you posting an upclose photo of video and a hi-def or at least a good photograph?

thanks in advance

Yep. I posted in the other thread (wish somebody would merge them) that it is not loose like the glassy unibody that I have. I assume it has something to do with the reduced weight of the screen because it doesn't have the plexiglass over it. It's still not as tight as the older models, but it's solid and doesn't bother me like the glossy one I own.

One last question, in your opinion which do you prefer? Just curious. :p
