Why would I make stuff up? I don't do **** like that I call it out like it is good or bad.

I love my pixel 2 XL but it's not perfect There's issues like why is the OnePlus phone a little faster and smoother than Google's flagship ?

I'll admit the iPhone is very smooth but it's a limited Fisher Price phone to me.

and I've owned 6 or 7 Galaxy Flagship phones over the years and generally like them pretty well but always had that issue of stuttering or lag or hiccups and it was never usually when the phone was brand-new that normally didn't creep up until 6 months or 1 year afterwards sort of like an old Windows 98 machine.

But my S8 plus did show very faint very minor hiccups and that just annoyed me or scared me that leg was was still there and I couldn't deal with 1/10th of a second slow down once a day.

If you want the smoothest operating smartphone it goes in this order;

OnePlus 6
iPhone XS
Pixel 2 XL

And others after that
I am surprised you mentioned the iPhone. Its fluid but slower than the Pixel and disguise it using animations.

Off topic a bit, but;

- The Nexus phones were never big time sellers, I think the best selling nexus was either the Motorola Nexus 6, or the Nexus 6P, and at best case it sold a total of 1.5 million phones, in the curse of it's year on sale. And that's worldwide grand total. Most of the Nexus phones were sales typically in the less than 1 million per year.

- Pixel line comes out, and yes compared to Apple and Samsung it sells like crap, but compared to the Nexus line it's doing better. I think the Pixel (2016) sold around 2 to 2.5 million phones, and the Pixel 2 line sold in the 3 to 3.5 million, still pennies compared to the iPhone and Galaxy line, but still isn't rock bottom.

My point, if Google is serious about selling phones, why do they only offer it on carrier ( Verizon ) only, and not open it up to all carriers like Apple and Samsung do ? I bet if the Pixel 3 was available on every U.S. carrier as well as the phone stores in Europe and Asia, maybe Google would sell 10 to 15 million worldwide ? And eventually get the Pixel brand name out there year after year, and grow it into something popular.

But lately I get this impression the Pixel line is like a highend nice sailboat out in the ocean with no Captain and a broken rutter. Just sort of sitting there, not going anywhere. I just hope there is a Pixel 4 next year.

Maybe they just said, hey we made budget stock devices for years now, let’s do higher end devices. The pixel was born.

They don’t have any urge to sell Samsung/iPhone numbers. Google is a weird company. I think sometimes they just do things to see if they can do it. Look at their fiber internet service. They could have wine further and entered more markets but they didn’t. Their bread and butter is ad revenue and everything else is just, hmm what if we try this for a bit.

In other words, they are not really taking this that serious. It’s just not that big of a deal. They can and will end this no matter if it is a success or not because that is what google does with side projects.
[doublepost=1537847636][/doublepost]I want to say with the above post and all previous post, I have absolutely thoroughly enjoyed my OG pixel XL. At the time of its release, it was a perfect android copy of the iPhone and in some ways even bettered the iPhone. Googles customer service has been fantastic and their project if service has worked quite well.

You just can’t ever get used to things when it comes to companies like google.

I've said it before, I'll say it again: front facing speakers is a big blunder in Google's design decision.

Yes, a mistake even in the regular Pixel 3.

I'm going to say that maybe you guys should give up on Google as a phone hardware company. I know I have.

There is a rumor circulating that google fired one of their pixel design teams, the one responsible for the pixel 3xl.

According to the rumor, google leaked the designs of both pixel models in order to gauge consumer opinion regarding the designs accomplished by the two distinct teams.

No idea what will happen though, could be another reboot next year.

I could turn out to be wrong. But I'd make my future decisions based on a proven track record and not the hope for a turnaround.

I love the front-facing speakers. I like the Pixel 3 design, it's not perfect but there is literally no perfect phone.

Not sure I could deal with that notch, so if I do decide to jump from my 2XL, it will probably be to a 3 (if I can handle the screen size demotion).

And battery life on the non XL Pixels isn't great.

Ahhh that's something I hadn't even thought about!!

The rumours seem to be suggesting there won't be much to shout about, so it might be the case I just stick with this 2 XL. I've got a good unit and it's going well thus far. Usually switch phones a few times a year but might not this time (famous last words).

All I can say is good luck with that working unit.

I was right there with you...until I heard the speaker sound/quality my new XS Max. The sound quality is better and noticeably louder at max volume than the dual front facing speakers of my Pixel 2.

Heard good things about the new iPhone speakers, for sure.

It's the sound quality that is crucial. Compared to the Note 9 I bought (and returned), the Pixel 2 XL's speakers were much better quality (IMO).

And to be clear, I’m not shilling for the iPhone here...just that if Apple can achieve this level of quality without having 2 front facing speakers, it shows you don’t to sacrifice display/device size all in the name of leaving room for the front firing speakers.

I don’t find the rumored design of the Pixel 3 offensive in any way, but it’s hard not to also see it as a bit dated compared to just about every other current smartphone design, across all price ranges.

Oh the Pixel is definitely dated. If it weren't for the class-leading camera, I would have no strong feelings for it.

The iPhone has stealthily progressed into a great piece of hardware... The problem is the price. No way in hell am I paying £1100 for a phone when this Pixel 2 XL cost me exactly half as much. Samsung make exceptional hardware too (Note 9 was amazing) but this damn Pixel camera has me in a vice grip.

It's a shame we can't pick and choose aspects from various phones and morph them into one.

Initially I liked this design of the Pixel 3. but I agree with others here, it haven't been released yet and I now feel it looks dated. I was a big advocate of front facing speakers cause I spends lots of time using them but I think I owuld rather less bezels now.

Isn't HTC on board with Google Now? They were the Pioneers a front-facing speakers but they were also the first smartphones to do the Dual speakers without having them front-facing they did it in the earpiece and at the bottom before the iPhone and note 9 did that I think it started with a HTC 10.

My point being Google should be doing the same thing as the note 9 and iPhone XS speakers. Heck HTC started it
