How did the Pixel 2XL justify the price next to the 5T?
I've always called the 2 XL a rip-off.
How did the Pixel 2XL justify the price next to the 5T?
If the video fpt posted a while back (posted in this thread some pages back) is believed to be true, some design team got canned.
I agree, there is no room for a $1000.00 stock Android phone that is slapped together with 3 ways (or is it 4) to activate Google assistant with a decent screen and camera.
OnePlus may end up owning the stock Android game this year.
Pixel 3 349 /399
Pixel 3xl maybe 499 / 549
The old Nexus prices. If Google had the nerve to fire a design team because of a bad design, then they know they jacked up and should just fire sale these things right off the bat.
It didn't and was way over priced for what it was. And the 5t sold more and was better reviewed, minus the camera.

Alright. And what does the OnePlus give you to warrant a markup over the Pocophone?
It's only a rip-off because of QA, though, no specs. If you somehow get a good 2XL, it'd probprobably be worth it to a lot of people .
I guess it depends if you feel the iPhone X or S9 feel too small (I believe the smaller Pixel will have the same size screen as those 2).Will the Pixel 3 be too small for someone coming from an iPhone 7 Plus?
I want to get the smaller Pixel 3 this year. I have ruled out the 3XL due to its notch and asymmetrical bezels. Something about that phone just sets of my OCD.
I like the design of the Pixel 3 much better and was wondering if it will feel too small coming from the large screen of the iPhone 7 Plus. Physically the Pixel 3 is closer in size to the smaller iPhone 7, but I'm afraid if it's narrow 18:9 aspect ratio screen will feel too small to get used to.
Thoughts?
This leak is kind of disconcerting. If I'm looking at it right, this company charges an up-front fee followed by 11 payments. That would bring the starting price to around $850 US. I know there is a VAT so it's not completely equivalent, but it still seems that Pixel 3 will be more expensive than Pixel 2.

Don’t pay full price for phone unless it’s an iPhone as Apple never does price drops until phones are replaced by newer models.
Expensive gamble, then?
So Engadget got hold of a Pixel 3 XL unit in Hong Kong early may as well go official
2 things:
- Huge notch confirmed
- Big chin bezel confirmed

It looks awful, even if you can turn the notch off, it is so large and put that together with that chin you will have large Forehead and Chin.So the notch is there solely to copy Apple, otherwise there wouldn’t be a chin. Genius.

This notch crap is getting out of hand
On the contrary. I am using a Huawei Mate 20 Lite to write this message and can tell you now the notch to me is pointless, it intrudes the display and you fit far less notifications in the notification bar.
The OnePlus 6 is certainly a better-looking device next to the 3XL, but its notch still looks bad when turned on. When turned off, though, I think I'd actually rather have a notch than no notch because that gives more usable screen space below it. After watching all of the videos of the OnePlus 6 and LG G7 with the notch disabled, I feel like the status bar on my S8 is ugly and a waste of space.
But you can have no notch and even more space by eliminating the chin, moving it to the top. That’s why this design is nonsense. You don’t get more screen space.

With a disabled notch that is the same size as the chin, it looks proportionate and provides more space for content to be displayed. I just wonder if Google will have a setting to disable the notch for the 3 XL. I've not seen anything regarding such as setting in stock Android Pie.

It can only show about 2-3 things before it begins having to decide what is most important.
But in Pie, isn't in baked in now to only show a max of three icons? So even if using a device that doesn't have a notch you still wouldn't see more than that?
I think Android Pie will detect if there is a notch or not. Either way I am sure the likes of Samsung will add their own functions to show more icons. This whole notch fad really needs to end. Most of theae OEMs are claiming display sizes of +6.3inch but the notch is there and you end up with about 6inches of actual usable space and a whole of cramming of ico s at the top. There's no way the back camera sensor will be the same as last year's, is there?
There is a huge chance it will be. Was the sensor on the 2 really what made the pictures good? Google seems to be going all in with computational photography.
