Still working on setting up my phone. You know - recovering some of those passwords long forgotten but was still logged in on the phone. But today's battery life has been rough. Used 47 percent between 2ish - now. But I'm chalking that up to all the file transfers, app updates, etc.
My battery life was rough the first day too with all of the setup and app installs but it settled in nicely the second day. I'm averaging over 6 hours SOT and my battery hasn't gone fully dead yet.

Battery update, Last on charger at 6am on Monday, Battery is still at 25% after nearly 2 busy days with some 5G browsing and much surfing / YouTube, and deep dive into settings / configuration of this device.

P6 (non Pro) is a lil TANK for a battery! Super happy with this lil guy!!! :)

Thanks, it is kinda how I have my Linux systems setup too. If I decide to run a window manager ;) .

Dark mode 100%, partly because I like it that way, and additionally because I like the battery savings boost.

I posted one in this thread earlier comparing the Pixel 3, Pixel 6, and iPhone XS Max. They should put the S21 Ultra next to the 6 Pro, it being on the other side is a bit odd. Also, is there a case on the 6 pro? that doesn't look right to me.
Cool thing about that site is....you can rearrange them in any order you want. It also has all the phone dimensions at the bottom of the page...

don't forget the weights. I love how light the Pixels are this year.

6 Pro - 6.7 inches
210 grams
(7.41 Ounces)

6 - 6.4 inches
207 grams
(7.30 Ounces)

13 Pro Max - 6.7 inches
240 grams
(8.47 Ounces)

S21 Ultra - 6.8 inches
227 grams
(8.01 Ounces)
Any reason the iPhone weight is much bigger? Can't be because of battery, huh?

I love the heft of my iPhone 13 pro. But each person has their own key items they love.

I like small and heavy phones, but the P6 is starting to earn my respect for larger phones on Android. The customization in Android (especially different launchers) makes it a totally different experience!

I don't agree with, but am starting to understand the gripes that Android faithful have against iOS's Springboard and the HUGE icon size.

For me it makes my 13PM hard to hold after a while. My hands get tired!
I also think the heft of the iPhone is a design choice. I think they want to convey that heavier means better and more premium.

If Apple wanted to make the iPhone thinner and lighter. I have no doubt they could make that happen.

Thin and light are nice for sure, especially when it comes to fatigue.

I guess the 13 (I don't have a Pro Max, just a regular 13 pro) really reminds me of the feel / heft of my iPhone 4, my first iPhone that I still own and use weekly. (There is a dead game that I can only play on that device that has since been removed from App Store).

The nice thing is, we all have choice in devices these days!

OK - just about set up. Need to get used to the button locations coming from an S8.

Can someone help me out? A feature I loved on my S8 was holding down the home screen and google providing "What's on my screen." Can I do that with the pixel? If I hold down the home screen, nothing happens. If I hold down the power button I just get the assistant. I have settings correct, "use text from screen" and "use screenshot" (both turned on)

So how is the phone in the pocket so far? Seems it'd need to go into a pocket all by itself with the camera bar pointing outward.

Does the phone need a sim card to actually set up? It might end up being a wifi tablet for me.

I haven't ruled the thing out yet, still thinking pro but waiting for things to settle a bit and maybe stock to kind of replenish. Probably won't until after the first of the year.

You can get the power button back by going to Settings...system..gestures...."Press and hold power button"

I am not sure about the Whats on my screen option though..sorry!

How many run dark mode 100% all the time, vs sometimes light theme? Or even always light mode?
My husband is switching to light mode. He’s been dealing with migraine auras the last couple of days. ☹️ I hope HE isn’t struggling with pwm.

That’s the thing, it’s highly individualized as to what display affects which person. So even though he’s never seemed to struggle with displays before, it doesn’t mean he’s always going to be immune to being affected by one. But I hope it’s more just down to the awful weather we’re having. Everyone is so sleepy.

He says dark mode has been uncomfortable for him so he’s switching to light mode and a light theme.

I’m planning on doing a light theme and stay on light mode unless something bothers MY eyes. My Samsung is on dark mode all the time so I wanted to try something different for my Pixel.

Not exactly. See here: https://support.google.com/assistant/answer/7393909?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform=Android
and here: https://thenextweb.com/news/google-...ats-on-my-screen-button-back-to-the-assistant

For example - you're on IMDB and see an actor's name. You could hold down the home button and it would bring up Google Assistant and one option would be "what's on my screen" and if you clicked it, it would show you relevant information - buttons for their instagram, spotify, youtube, images, etc
