Case finally arriving tomorrow.been such hard work getting one available in UK

Yeah likewise with any kind of decent screen protectors, nothing readily available to buy in the UK even on Amazon etc. Tempered glass protectors do not seem to be working with the FPS either.

Mediadevil released their TPU protector which is a wet install on the 6 Pro as opposed to dry install on the 6. Decided to go for it, will be interesting to see if I can firstly actually install it and then see if any issues with the FPS.

Really great review from a photographers point of view and how to work with the way the camera handles different scenes

I should post one on the regular 6 from a photographer point of view . ;)

Not exactly. See here: https://support.google.com/assistant/answer/7393909?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform=Android
and here: https://thenextweb.com/news/google-...ats-on-my-screen-button-back-to-the-assistant

For example - you're on IMDB and see an actor's name. You could hold down the home button and it would bring up Google Assistant and one option would be "what's on my screen" and if you clicked it, it would show you relevant information - buttons for their instagram, spotify, youtube, images, etc
I will have to do some digging

Is that your gear? Nice. A few years ago I sold my 300 f2.8 IS along with a couple 1D bodies and a 70-200 f4 & 35 f1.4. But I kept my 100-400 Mk2. That's one I just can't let go, it's still fun to use. It's the heaviest piece of gear I own these days. Downsizing more & more as the years go by and new Tech becomes more interesting......

Anyone here have both the 6 Pro and 6? Curious size wise and comfortability. To me this 6 Pro is on the extreme large size, and the curved edges make it look weird or like extra thick or something. Looks too much like a Samsung phone which is terrible.

Almost contemplating getting the Pixel 6 see if I like the smaller size and flat screen?

Size wise and comfort, my Pixel 4 XL is darn near perfect to me. Just the best size and easy to hold.

Yes it is all my gear. I still have an active business, and I am a frequent contributor to a motorsports publication.

I have switched all bodies to Mirrorless, I shoot with R5 and EOS R cameras exclusively. Keeping an eye open for the M1 eventually. While the phones are doing awesome for point and shoot cameras, Really nothing can replace (currently) a nice large sensor and good glass.

Fun to live in both worlds!

The nice thing is, getting a regular 6 appears to be much easier to do. Can you get one at Best Buy, or something similar as a 1 week test? They and Google should have a good return policy in the event you decide to move down to the base 6.

I assume you would be ok with not having the Zoom lens?

I am Really hoping future phones come in both sizes, and keep all features. Similar to how Apple finally does that with their Pro phones, MacBook Pro, and some other devices.

Lack of quality screen protectors is my biggest complaint. The gorilla glass victus scratches really easily. I've already got a couple scratches that really bother me and I always keep my phone on a pocket by itself. I have a wet apply protector ordered from Amazon that arrives tomorrow. Hopefully that will suffice until a decent glass one is available.

I have a glass screen protector from Amazon that is working for now. I would like it to go further to the edges, and I am hoping to find one that doesn't have a notch cut out for the camera, as I prefer full coverage over the camera or sensors on any phone I buy.

Glass with cuts, notches or whatever just seems to collect dust and makes it harder to clean the camera lenses. FPS is working fine for me with the protector still.

Do you have a link to the screen protector on Amazon?

Yeah here it is.

I feel it is a little narrow for the phone, I was worried about it colliding with my case, it wasn't an issue at all.

Just being totally honest here, not really digging this Pixel 6 Pro. It's over the borderline of too large a device for me, and for some strange reason my iPhone 12 Pro Max feels more compact and much smaller, even though it's the same size or in some cases even bigger.

Typing on the phone, it feels hollow or cheap if that makes any sense? My 12 Pro Max feels rock solid typing, meaning the feel of it, not the haptics, but like what's behind the phone feels solid, same with my Pixel 4 XL feels solid too, but not this Pixel 6 Pro.

My Pixel 4 XL just feels so much nicer to hold and grip on to, and the more compact size is darn near perfect to my liking. Man I love the 4 XL, except the mediocre battery life.

But also the iPhone Pro Max smartphones are so close to be nearing perfect if they opened up iOS more, allowed some customization, and made a few changes, I would love them.

So how I go about returning this new 6 Pro? Maybe try the regular flat Pixel 6.

The Pixel 6 is a great phone, for me it's the better choice of the 2 simply because I'm not keen on the Pro's curved screen. The 6 feels solid and has a heft to it that lets you know it's in your pocket. It's ever so slightly narrower and a few mm shorter than the Pro, whether it's enough to make a difference in how it feels to you only you can decide. Try one and see!

To return your 6 Pro: I'm not sure about in the states(I assume that's where you are)but in the UK you just got to the order in the Google Store and there is an option to return item. Google sends return labels and you take it to a drop off point or have it collected like I did when I returned my 6 Pro.

I felt the same way after the first couple days. I do notice the lighter almost hollow feel but that doesn't bother me. After getting my Spigen Ultra Hybrid case the device feels almost the same in hand as my 13PM. I don't care for the curved edges, I don't on any device, even my S21 Ultra but the little things this device offers overall in user experience trump any of the hardware annoyances I may have. If you can live with the lack of telephoto camera and slight downgrade in display the regular 6 may be the right move.

I agree with you on the 4XL. If the battery life wasn't so terrible it would likely still be my device of choice. Loved everything about that device except for the battery.

did anyone get a more in-depth experience with the pixel 6 pro? I want to know how the phone feels as i am considering one at some point.

It's more down to the interface and Andeoid, but the pixel 6 feels like a higher resolution display as compared to the Xs Max which actually is a device with the better screen.

Since iOS doesn’t do anything faster than 60 hz in Safari and many other instances of scrolling, the 90hz in the 6 feels MUCH smoother than my 13 Pro (not pictured here) in some regards.

I still really like iOS and don’t see myself ever Fully moving away from it, but compared to my Pixel, the interface feels like a Jitterbug phone for elderly or visually impaired. :(

This screen is P-OLED so that is why you feel it differently than Max ,.curves if they bother then yes Pixel 6 will be the choice ..I find them easier to hold device tbh for my feel in hand .. especially with the case minimize the sides ...all personal preference
