I've got Spigen Rugged Armor on mine at the moment. The feel of the 6 Pro is great for me. Love it. But my attempt to use a SuperShieldz film screen protector was a farce. It looked awful when I did get one applied. Blech.

I don't like curved edges, but it's like one of my Samsungs from a couple of years ago. I'll be fine with that. I'm not sure about pwm. I already immediately had to go from dark mode to light mode. Having done that, let's give this a chance and see how it goes!

I really don't know which of my phones I'd want to copy my setup from so I think I'll just start from scratch.

Gosh I love typing on this keyboard! It's just the right size and key spacing. No I can't use this phone one handed but I wasn't expecting to even try. Sigh...that was what my 12 mini was for.

I think my husband's phone probably has the better display of the two. I've got some off axis pinks and blues. But I'm not sure. I don't have his phone in front to compare. As long as I can read on this without incurring a migraine, I don't care what color it turns when I tilt it around.

Fingerprint scanner works fine so far! Given that I was scrubbing gaskets in my appliances with bleached soaked cloths yesterday and tore up my fingerprints, that's impressive!

I've got so much to do on this phone. It's fun being back on a Pixel!

It's a shame about the screen protector situation. If I can eventually get a glass one that works for it I may be able to carry this phone in my back jeans pockets like I did the 6-7-8 Plus iPhones.

Here's my current wallpaper. They're dancing the "Rancho Cucamonga" 🤣

Love that funky wallpaper.

Interesting you find light mode easier on the eyes or less headaches than dark mode?

I am Meh overall about that site. They favor ranking companies that utilize their consulting services, and as a photographer myself, I feel they put too much weight on subjective observations in too many cases.

Why would the zoom be rated lower on the Pixel 6 Pro than the iPhone 13 pro. The Pixel zooms farther native, and has super-zoom tech.

I love the images from the 6, but feel they over-process on the 6 as compared to the 3 I have.

Yeah DXO Mark have zero credibility anymore unfortunately.
The zoom lens on the Pro is the only thing keeping me not purchasing a regular 6. I think it's great, and used way more for me than an ultrawide.

Next year I really hope Google keeps the camera tech the same in both their models and NO CURVED DISPLAY! :D

Just looked at a regular Pixel 6 at my local T-Mobile and comparing the size. Yeah the 6 Pro is definitely taller and larger but comparing on top of each other the width they are just a hair apart and with practically the same.

The salesperson there had one in his pocket, the regular 6. He let me play with it for a minute and a couple things jumped out at me. The screen definitely wasn't as bright or deep colors like the 6 Pro and it seemed just a ever so slightly laggy where my 6 Pro is super fluid smooth.

For me the 6 Pro was definitely the more premium device. It was noticeable to me.

It's funny. I also looked at the iPhone 13 Pro Max and That's a pretty sweet phone too. Stunning display extremely fast and smooth. Sales person also had a 13 Pro Max himself, said best phone ever for him.

Yeah. I still like https://www.dpreview.com/ though. They haven't posted a review yet/

I am a bit dubious about the six being more laggy. It has the same chip, and is pushing a lot less pixels. Wonder if he had some third-party applications running, or something else.

Have no experience on the screen of the six pro, but yours is the first I've heard anyone say that the colors look flat on the six.

:Edit:
Not calling you a liar or anything like that, just suspicious of that phone you tested. IIRC the 6 benchmarks higher than the pro, which is why I feel something may be up with that copy you played with.

If I want to have AOD turn off between 11pm - 6am, is there a way to do that without using Digital Wellbeing? I mean automate it instead of having to manually turn it on and off each night...

I agree and based on my experience the Pixel 6 has been ultra smooth and quite fast. One thing that can make a Pixel laggy is if it's in battery saver mode. The other thing I noticed is that the P4a got a little laggy when using "swipe nav" and it smoothed out when going to "3 button nav" but then again I have the Pixel 6 with swipe nav and it's insanely smooth.

It was a demo unit I used. So yeah those do lag.

But the display tech was different. Colors and blacks just seemed better on the 6 Pro. The 90hz vs 120hz, I couldn't tell any difference. Overall the 6 Pro just seemed to have a better quality display.

I wish Google did what Apple does like the 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max, they are the same exact technology minus the batteries.

How come when I set light wallpapers, the At-a-glance and network indicators stay white? Thought those are supposed to go black on light wallpapers?

This is my first pixel I've enabled all 3 options under "caller ID and spam" but no call screen option shows up when someone calls. What's up with that?

Also anyone know of any good 800 numbers to test the direct my call feature?

I went and messed around again at ibestbuy as I’m still deciding which to get/keep. My main takeaway this time is the the pro is the superior device obviously (screen just pops more, zoom cam etc) but the regular 6 just feels more like a pixel. The pro feels like a Samsung without one UI or whatever they call it. This is not a bad thing. With that said I still have no clue what I’m going to do lol

I did get these in the mail today though.

Received my 6 today. Overall, I am impressed, but I don't care for the wallpaper coordination that Android 12 does; all of the colors offered seem to not pick out the relevant colors of the wallpaper. I wish I could just turn this feature completely off. It drives my OCD crazy.

Otherwise, it's a great phone. Zero lag except that the Twitter app stutters a lot. I'm not having too many issues with the FP reader.

I'll see how I do with this phone and then I'll either keep it or get the 4 XL or the 5a.

Does anyone know why the live wallpapers that were introduced with the Pixel 4 are missing? The dark bay one and the one of the green mountainside? How can I re-download them?

From what little I have played with both devices i agree. I feel like I will probably opt for the 6 at this point. I love most everything about the pro but I don't feel like it's worth the extra money for my use case.

The FPS situation finally clicked and I guess I was doing it wrong. I thought you first put your FP onto the display and it takes you to the Home Screen. What dawned on me is that it's a two step process. You first have to wake up the screen then the FPS icon gets displayed, that's when you place your digit on the screen and it goes directly to the Home Screen.

Once I figured that out I now have roughly a 95% success rate, with a tempered glass SP.

That's why I like AOD - the sensor is always there and it's one step

My pupils constrict and that helps with the eye strain or whatever it is. Same for my husband, even though he does not suffer with his displays quite like I do. He has to already be having a migraine induced by the weather or something else and then he will be more sensitive to the display.

I've got my free Pixel Buds in! I love them! They stay in and are so comfortable! And they sound fantastic.

I did finally get to compare displays and my husband's display has maybe a hair more contrast with text but they're mostly the same. Because I am starting this as new, I have so much to set up. I've learned some things from working within the restrictions of a 64 gb storage size on my Xr, so I'm working from that, trying to stay lean on this device, too.

I do feel some similarities to my S21 Ultra but this display so far is a little bit easier on my eyes. Typing is definitely better, though I suppose if I were to install Gboard onto the Samsung, it would improve the experience on that phone as well.

I'm being cautiously optimistic that I'll be able to stay on this device. But I'm also being realistic and not shrugging off anything the way I did on my 13 Pro, so it got too late to return it by the time I recognized my struggles. If I can keep this Pixel, it gets a name: "Stormy". Whoa, such imagination there! 😄

Auto brightness is not as good as on the iPhone or Samsung and definitely needs an update. But it's not a deal breaker. I'm sure the update will address it. If not, I'll set it manually.

The camera is so weird! I will think my photos are coming out all blurry and I did delete a few. But I found out they're busy processing well after I've taken them! I mean quite some time later! I'm still figuring that one out.

The camera is fine for what I need. I don't think I need to do particularly extensive "testing" to determine a winner between it and the iphone 13 Pro. The 13 Pro is simply not an option for me.

I'm not sure I'll even be able to compare the two phones even just for fun. The assault on my nervous system is really something, even for quick glances right now. Maybe when the weather settles down. Right now I'm not the only one complaining of migraines around here. It's like an epidemic since the winter winds blew in.

The Pixel is better than my Samsung with the cat photos. Better with people photos. So, unless it makes me sick, it's got the job of doing anything my Xr isn't as good at.

I'm already doing almost all of my iMessages on my new Apple Watch. I took to swiping on the mini keyboard very well. So I'm not taxing the Xr's capacity too much. It should therefore serve me well for a long time. I've accepted that it's my iPhone and I'm very much enjoying it.

I've had ridiculously good luck with the Pixel 6 pro fingerprint scanner so far. I do best with my thumbs. They're big enough to give the scanner plenty to work with.

Yeah so my overall impression is delight. Auto brightness flakiness is currently my only significant complaint. Oh and I am definitely already adjusted to the curved display. The Spigen case plays well with the edges.

I was temped to moderate your post for getting that song into my head again ;) .

Love the wallpaper, looks super fun!

Also,

Here is my fingerprint sensor in action with a glass screen protector. As I stated a couple times in this thread, it has not been an issue for me. Don't fear it, just try it ;) . My only suggestion is to get as thin of a protector as possible, and reprogram your fingers after you install it.

Darn I can't find any tempered glass for the Pro model. I know they used to have them but they must have sold out.
