Just being totally honest here, not really digging this Pixel 6 Pro. It's over the borderline of too large a device for me, and for some strange reason my iPhone 12 Pro Max feels more compact and much smaller, even though it's the same size or in some cases even bigger.

Typing on the phone, it feels hollow or cheap if that makes any sense? My 12 Pro Max feels rock solid typing, meaning the feel of it, not the haptics, but like what's behind the phone feels solid, same with my Pixel 4 XL feels solid too, but not this Pixel 6 Pro.

My Pixel 4 XL just feels so much nicer to hold and grip on to, and the more compact size is darn near perfect to my liking. Man I love the 4 XL, except the mediocre battery life.

But also the iPhone Pro Max smartphones are so close to be nearing perfect if they opened up iOS more, allowed some customization, and made a few changes, I would love them.

So how I go about returning this new 6 Pro? Maybe try the regular flat Pixel 6.
Sounds like you have a similar dilemma to me haha.
I don't think it feels hollow though but I have heard others say that.
I am still contemplating picking up a regular 6 to compare myself.

I think you guys just make an excuses just to pick up more phones lol hahaha

Just kidding, but definitely it's all about preference and sometimes you have to settle in on one that really ticks all the boxes for you. Personally. I'm one that says you got to try for yourself. You always have the return. Just think of it as a low cost rental which I think they're not even charging now, but if they were it wouldn't be that much

I think you’re just a regular 6 guy, might sound strange but I felt it from the start. The Pro doesn’t do it at all for me either, of course I haven’t handled either of them yet but the regular 6 is what I’m dying to test. The Pro does look totally Samsung/OP, doesn’t give me that Pixel kick at all.

I think it is easier to forgive the 6 if it has issues, though I have not run into anything worth complaining about on mine.

Mine is a base, 128gb 6. At $600 US, it is a lot of phone for the money! Cheapest pixel I have ever owned ($ spent to buy), and the best Android phone I have ever owned.

That's so weird because to me the Pro Max feels twice as big. It's one of the least ergonomic phones I've ever owned. Wide, square, and heavy.

It’s here. Left in the driveway but neatly stacked on top of cat food. So it must be the new driver because there was a puddle next to everything and the old driver used to make sure to hit the garage door and land them in the puddles.

It’s being inspected. They approve of the color choice. Taken with the Xr.

I just received my 6 Pro an hour ago but initial impressions are that I completely agree with this statement. The 6 Pro, being more narrow, is much more comfortable to hold compared to my 12 Pro Max.

Congratulations! Can't wait to read your thoughts when you've set up the phone and have had a chance to use it

I don't know why, but with no case on, this 6 Pro feels and looks so much better.

I have a slim case and a medium thick case, but without a case this phone just seems more modern futuristic for some reason, and makes me like it more.

Then again I feel the same way with my iPhone 12 Pro Max. Any case makes that phone feel like a brick, no case feels so good and looks better.

Get a Dbrand skin and you will be good

I have a Peel Case coming tomorrow I can let you know how it feels and post pics, might make using the phone nicer for you and keep it protected, assuming you do not return it

Still going to run it the rest of the week, and give it some more time, it's only been a little over a day since I've had this. Actually a dbrand skin might be a good idea.

I just received my Pixel 6 from FedEx 2 days early. My initial impressions are this is one BADASS phone. I love the coral color combo. The phone feels heavy but in a good way like you can use it as a waepon to ward off would be robbers. It has a solid feel although it's on the tad side of slippery. My clear case I purchased on Ebay is in LaLa Land and I contacted the seller because it shipped but once it left California that was the last update.

I love the Haptic and yes the FPS is pretty unreliable with a tempered glass screen protector. That's ok as the Pixel's have a nice feature whereby if you touch the screen the display comes on. So the FPS is no biggy for me and in fact it's something I never used on either the P4a and the P4a 5G. The P6 is fast and fluid so Google's SOC definitely is a winner so far.

OMG, I love the screen, it's bright, colorful and beautiful and 90Hz is pretty damn fine for me. I can see a big difference in smoothness between 60Hz on my P4a/P4a 5G and 90Hz on the P6. It's smooth enough where I don't feel i'm missing out on 120Hz.

The bottom line for me is I am so glad I chose the P6 and saved $300.

I don't particularly care for the feel of the 6 Pro without a case. So much easier for me to grip with the Spigen Ultra Hybrid on it. I guess it's just because its so slippery. I have huge man hands so the size of the phone isn't an issue but I always felt like i never had a good grip and was going to drop it. Downside, cases are just ugly and I agree with you that this phone really is a looker without the case.

Interesting.

Yeah I think people judging the display before they use it are in the wrong. it is far nicer than the specifications relay. That and Android optimizations make it feel much better than the lowly 1080p label (which is actually incorrect for this phone too) make it sound.

Since it uses 90hz in more areas than Apple's 120hz refresh, those coming from a new or older iOS device will be happy.

I love my sorta seafoam (apple Auto correct keeps changing that to sorta seafood) color. I do wish I got coral as in person it isn't as pink as I thought it looked, but color and the camera bridge are nice design touches to this unique phone.

I nicknamed mine Geordi. (Due to the visor clearly nothing else ;) )

WOOF! $35 is Apple case price level.

Considering this one. I am still searching for a matte finish to show off my sorta seafood (not fixing the auto correct this time) color of my 6.

I can definitely say that the Pixel 6 has no hollow feeling to it, whether you are touching the back or the front of the phone. In fact the phone feels as thick as a brick.
Yeah has some heft to it, well balanced for me.

Spigen Slim Fit. Adds some protection, not much bulk. Thought it does hide the design of the phone which some people won't like.

I've got Spigen Rugged Armor on mine at the moment. The feel of the 6 Pro is great for me. Love it. But my attempt to use a SuperShieldz film screen protector was a farce. It looked awful when I did get one applied. Blech.

I don't like curved edges, but it's like one of my Samsungs from a couple of years ago. I'll be fine with that. I'm not sure about pwm. I already immediately had to go from dark mode to light mode. Having done that, let's give this a chance and see how it goes!

I really don't know which of my phones I'd want to copy my setup from so I think I'll just start from scratch.

Gosh I love typing on this keyboard! It's just the right size and key spacing. No I can't use this phone one handed but I wasn't expecting to even try. Sigh...that was what my 12 mini was for.

I think my husband's phone probably has the better display of the two. I've got some off axis pinks and blues. But I'm not sure. I don't have his phone in front to compare. As long as I can read on this without incurring a migraine, I don't care what color it turns when I tilt it around.

Fingerprint scanner works fine so far! Given that I was scrubbing gaskets in my appliances with bleached soaked cloths yesterday and tore up my fingerprints, that's impressive!

I've got so much to do on this phone. It's fun being back on a Pixel!

It's a shame about the screen protector situation. If I can eventually get a glass one that works for it I may be able to carry this phone in my back jeans pockets like I did the 6-7-8 Plus iPhones.

Here's my current wallpaper. They're dancing the "Rancho Cucamonga" 🤣

I was temped to moderate your post for getting that song into my head again ;) .

Love the wallpaper, looks super fun!

Also,

Here is my fingerprint sensor in action with a glass screen protector. As I stated a couple times in this thread, it has not been an issue for me. Don't fear it, just try it ;) . My only suggestion is to get as thin of a protector as possible, and reprogram your fingers after you install it.

I've ordered a back skin for my phone, not DBrand (ew) a UK based company. But it isn't like those nasty textured ones. It's just like a clear gloss one.
I had one on the back of my Z Flip 3 and it made me feel better about putting the phone down on a hard surface without a case.

I do use a case with my Pixel 6 Pro all the time unless I'm sat on the sofa with it or in bed. I'm in the office tomorrow, so will definitely have the case on. Don't want any accidents! :D
