Look at that schnoz :) The Pixel is made for dog or animal still shots.
Definitely better than any Samsung I've had when trying to take pics of pets and kids.

Here's Marley. Her beard is a little wet because she just took a big drink out of the pool when she was outside. Trying to break her of that but she is stubborn. She's a handful 😆

And she laid down in that exact spot. Posing for pics can be so exhausting.

Well, I have a couple of updates for you, first is that the new batch of spiegen alignmaster glass for the pixel 6 on amazon does indeed work with my finger print sensor. Was working ok but after deleting my current scans and setting up new ones with the screen protector attached, everything works as well as without a screen protector.

Second thing is my Bellroy case arrived :) my pixel is now fully protected. :D

Edit with pic :)

Thought I would get some more thoughts down on the Pixel now it has been over a month of ownership.

I still love this phone, and even with its early bugs and quirks, it's easily one of my favourite phones I have owned.

These are some of the issues I'm having which despite being annoying, don't make me consider swapping for something else.

- OS bugs. I love Material You. But I have constant issues with parts of it that does frustrate me.
The 'Conversations' widgets. I have a lot of these throughout my home screens. I really like them, but the one on my main home screen keeps changing from one contact to another. I have it set to be my partner, but on a daily basis it adds a friend's WhatsApp photo and name to the widget. When I click the widget, it does open the correct convo, but it's the wrong contact on my home screen.

It is easily changed by pressing and holding and reselecting the correct contact. But I have to do it daily. None of the other conversation widgets have done this. Just the home screen one. I've removed, readded etc. Still does it.

- Lock screen notifications. If I wake my phone and I have notifications, if I tap one to expand without unlocking the phone, it pulls down the whole notification shade. There's then no way to go 'back' as a swipe up to go back to lock screen presents me with the unlock screen (enter passcode). I then have to swipe back from this screen to get back home to the lock screen notifications. Does it every single time and it drives me mad. Why does a swipe up after expanding a lock screen notification not just take you back to your lock screen with your grouped notifications? So annoying!!

- Now Playing. One of my favourite things about a Pixel. This doesn't work if my screen is unlocked. It does if it's locked, I get a notification on the lock screen. But unlocked nothing shows up anywhere. It could be something I need to enable, but haven't managed to find anything. Renders it a bit useless if my phone is unlocked when a song is playing I want to know about.

- Sorry to say it (again) but the Fingerprint scanner. The longer I use the phone, the more I just do not like the scanner. It's so so slow.

- Said this one before, but lack of widget for Pixel Buds. Sometimes I get a notification in the notification shade which has a headphone icon and when you swipe down it displays the battery percentage. But it then disappears and doesn't always appear upon connecting.
Google really should add one.

- Updates. Only had the day one update so far. Still on the November patch. It is now the 5/12 (not 12/5 as you Americans write it 😋) and still no update. Why is Google not being consistent in its update approach? I expect it from Samsung, but not Google.

Other than those niggles, and they really are just niggly little things, the phone is amazing.
I really like the haptics, I think Material You is great for the most part as it can completely change the look and feel of your device way more than just a wallpaper can.
Cameras continue to impress me. With the Pixel camera, it's satisfying that the picture is 95% of the time useable. I never get that with other phones. Always have to take more to get one I want.

Just waiting for my Pixel Stand 2 now and the family is complete 😁.

Google typically releases Pixel updates on the 1st Monday of each month. So the December update shouldn't drop until tomorrow.

You should have several updates by May 12th ?

You guys are too funny lol but some really good observations. There's definitely some bugs but I think they will get squashed.. overall, The phone is a joy to use.. tbh, I don't use the now playing music and I do use my pixel buds but without a widget. But I have experienced a few times where the buds sound weird or disconnect a certain way and I have to turn them off and back on. It happened a few times during the conversation... The mid update I know Google posted that it was only for US and Japan so the UK will hopefully see the update this week included with the new month and hopefully you don't have to wait till May lmfao...

I'd probably say this is the buggiest version of Android I have used - small bugs mind you - but also the most enjoyable version. And the hardware absolutely makes me mostly forget about it.

Nice portrait shots;
haha that is the same 4-Pack I got here locally. I need to hit the bottle shop to get another before they are sold out here in Minnesota!!

Cheers!

Are you having a lot of issues with the FPS? It's crazy how many people are having issues. I just don't understand it..
oddly the FPS hates my right thumb, but only my right thumb!

I’ve noticed the Now Playing bug early on but didn’t realize it was a bug. I thought I’d not set the phone up right. I like notifications but have the same pain points mentioned by @Aneres11. However I didn’t really notice them until he articulated them.

I’m still in a bit of a bog with the health issue and mentally I’m not all here, having just lost a dear internet friend with a weakened immune system to Covid. So I haven’t really done my usual critical analysis of any of my new phones. I’m just using the 6 Pro and the Xr without thinking about it or noticing really what I’m doing with either of them.

Which may be, for me, really the best psychological approach with these machines, come to think of it. It lessens my dissatisfaction with the necessity of my using older technology.

That is to say, I’m using the iPhone XR without even really noticing or feeling most of the time like I’ve taken any steps back. Really, think about it, I went from a 512 GB 13 Pro to a 64 GB iPhone XR freebie toss-away from AT&T. Shouldn’t I be feeling a bit inconvenienced about that? Even putting aside for a moment the things going on for me personally that might make me care or notice something as trivial (in the greater context of life) as a phone less than I normally do, I’m still on the Xr all through the day. You’d think I would feel the difference more keenly, being such a smartphone aficionado, lol. But I usually don’t. When I do, thankfully the Pixel 6 Pro is there.

My particular Pixel 6 Pro and I have so far been getting along well. Sometimes you get lucky and get that device that just came together in all the right ways on the assembly line. Lol, maybe it had such a great time hanging out in California for a few days, dancing at Rancho Cucamonga, that it was in a good humor when it arrived to me. Whatever the case, it’s letting me unlock easily most of the time (I had super dry hands last two days and ran into a bit of difficulty with the sensor). And when I use it, it’s really good and gets the job done so that I can focus on the things that do matter a lot and not really think about the technology that’s facilitating my life with those important things.

So I’m thinking I’ll try and hang onto this one and not upgrade on autopilot like I sometimes do with iPhones and Samsungs. We shall see. I am hopeful.

Oh and don’t take this as a denigration of the rest of you noticing and reporting on the weaknesses and glitches. That’s very important for people to make sound purchasing and upgrading and keeping decisions. And normally, if this other stuff weren’t happening, I’d be there right there with you all.

I’m just rambling about personal epiphanies I’m having about my own ownership of these devices. Especially in regard to iOS devices. Everyone has been saying that for ages, but I didn’t really process that until going back to a model a couple of generations back. Doh!

Anyone else's 6 ( not the pro ) getting quite warm after using it for a while ?
Off and on here and there. I think there’s been triggers but I’ve really been in a severe state of distraction to keep mental note on what they were. But I know it wasn’t at all with camera use. That has surprised me.edit: oops sorry talk about distraction I just realized you asked only about the regular 6.

Lame that the update for P6 and P6P are delayed a bit, but at least we know they will be squashing a ton of bugs.
