Agree. Dark mode is one thing iOS definitely does better.
I don't particularly care for dark mode on the Pixel or my S22U.
Back on the 13PM this weekend because I’m the only android guy out of all the coaches on my kids football team and I kept messing up the videos in our group chat 😂

Man, this battery is just incredible. I’ve been using it since yesterday morning and the battery is still at 70%. Also, I’m finding that iMessage is pretty essential as a parent of two kids in sports and helping coach multiple teams. I hate it but it is what it is.

Yep, one of the biggest perks of iOS is being “part of the club”. It’s not necessarily a feature. It’s more so a self created exclusivity. They knowingly made it looked down on to be a green bubble. And if one person in a group chat is an android user, it ruins the messaging experience and capabilities for everyone in that chat.

Yea and I don’t even care about being a part of the club or the whole green bubble thing. I just wish Apple would enable rcs for cross platform messaging. iMessage will still have exclusive features for them and honestly it won’t cause them a loss in sales but it would get them up to date with current messaging standards. I really don’t like iOS anymore but looks like I’m going to have to use it to some extent for the time being.

My Pixel 6 seems to have developed a weird bug where Google Assistant keeps activating on its own. It's driving me mad!

The screen will just light up and it'll start listening as if I've said "Hey Google".

I might try deactivating it and setting it up again, see if if fixes it. ??

Couldn't Apple fix this, with enabling RCS? It really is ridiculous that two different brands of smartphones can't communiate and share HiDef videos and photos with each other in 2022. At this point Apple just needs to enable RCS already, just crappy of them not too.

Of course they could. But what’s the incentive for them to? They know iMessage and the ecosystem is a big reason iPhone users don’t leave for android. Enabling RCS just makes the transition to android easier.

I dont agree with it, but I can understand from their point of view.

Picture of our great dog Lady, that we had to put down last night :( Best family friendly dog ever, such a sweetheart, and breaks my heart losing her.

I've been thinking about this... and I'm curious as to how Apple could implement RCS.

If anything, RCS is similar to iMessage on Android. My point is the foundation of RCS is a server built like iMessage and if Apple enable RCS they might have to tweak iMessage in the process. And as I recall, RCS is in an odd state whereas carriers and Google have different servers set up for it.

About a year ago, Dieter... formerly of The Verge did a piece on it. And I think it's more to it than does it benefit Apple to implement RCS, I mean... obviously not having RCS will help iPhone lock-in. However, the best course of action is to allow iMessage on Android since RCS is practically the same thing.

But iMessage is highly unlikely to come to Android just as RCS is highly unlikely to arrive on the iPhone.

I installed the May update yesterday. Did Google disable "Call Screener" again? I had several calls come in and call screener did not answer. I checked within the phone app and under spam calls there is no option for call screener. Ugh.

Ran into same issue, but clearing cache for the phone app and Google Play Services resolved my issue.

I’ve actually had that happen a few times in the last week with Siri on iOS. Maybe AI has become sentient! They’re listening in on us.

Still enjoying mine! A pic of this naughty boy, casually relaxing on the dining room table. The dog whisperer I am not ...
OMG a big dog on your dining room table?!! I see he’s a deep rich brown. Lol he probably thinks he’s being stealthy and blending in! 😆 At least that looks like a good sturdy wood table.

Yes if my dear doggo were still with us I could see her trying that. She was sassy and spirited and incredibly agile for her size. Her idea of the command “stay” was…let us say she took a liberal interpretation and assumed it meant moving very slowly to the destination of her choice. She was a huge pain in the butt and I miss her dearly.

As it is, I recently moved in a beautiful dining set that had belonged to my husband’s side of the family. Even though it’s a little over 50 years old and well used, it’s still the nicest furniture I’ve ever owned in my life. This set is solid wood that developed an actual patina as opposed to disintegrating with age like a lot of the furniture we bought as broke newlyweds or cautiously frugal expectant parents.

So of course I can’t keep the cats off of any of it. It doesn’t help that the table is right dead center of a perfect sunbeam.

Good day folks ...how my Pixel family doing ..Happy Mother's day to moms ..
Thank you! I’m doing well. We have spent the last month or so settling my mom into assisted living and then yesterday we had her over for dinner that my husband cooked. Her dementia is such that the stimulating environment of her new home is helping revive her personality and pulling her back a bit from the decline my dad reported dealing with during their Covid isolation. She’s located along the school route, so we can pop in and see her often after pick up. We are all rediscovering her wicked sense of humor. She’s still hard of hearing so we got to use our outdoor voices indoors at dinner and that was kind of amusing. We had fun making plans for summer outings. It was good to see her looking forward to things again. That was a huge gift itself.

Of course I got lovely sentimental gifts. And appropriately for this tech forum I can say I did get a very nice gift of technology. I got those Apple headphones that wear a bra. Don’t laugh…for the life of me as I am typing this I can’t remember what they’re called. I want to say AirPods but those are the tiny ones that go in the ear, right? Apple and their stupid names mess me up. HeadPods? What’s the one shaped like a toilet paper roll called? Okay this is going to drive me nuts if I don’t look it up. Brb

Oh of course…AirPods Max.

The toilet paper roll is called a HomePod. The one that looks like a grapefruit is HomePod mini. Got it.

Sorry if it’s not a phone I really don’t pay close attention and am just like any other Luddite about the names. 😅😂🤣

Son is Android user. Looking at Pixel 6 as can get a discount on it.

Don’t know much about Android or Pixel tbh, reading this (long) forum now among others.

Read about some problems on fingerprint scanner, is this fixed now with updates? Camera ok?

How’s battery life? They all claim 24hrs, what’s real world use for people who’s had it a while? I know it’s how much use it obviously, but in general?

In general is it a decent phone? He likes Samsung but they are really expensive.

I know the 6a rumoured, but that’s a smaller screen again and he likes big screens. (6 Pro too much), so 6.4” is a decent size I think.

Seems the fingerprint scanner issue varies based on who you ask. It was mostly good early on, hit and miss occasionally for me, but I rarely ever have an issue with my fingerprint not registering now. Maybe it has gotten better or maybe my mind is trained to now hit the sweet spot everytime. Not quite as good as the S22 Ultra FPS but not an issue in my opinion.

Camera is great. Hard to say one flagship camera is better than the others at this point. S22 Ultra is probably my favorite overall camera but the Pixel 6 camera is great and better than the S22U for taking pics of pets or kids without motion blur.

Battery life- Neither of the Pixels are on par with other flagships like the 13 Pro Max or S22 Ultra. They are decent in this regard and if you don't do much heavy gaming they should get you through a day.

In summary, decent phone as you ask? I'd say its more than decent. Even though my S22 Ultra is probably my favorite overall device I'd say my Pixel 6 Pro is the device I enjoy using the most. I think it provides the best user experience of any device. A few months ago with all the bugs I would have steered people away from it but it seems to have improved quite a bit with the most recent updates.
