Oh wow. And if it doesn’t do well my fear is that they’ll just dismiss the entire concept/product and move on. They just won’t address the problems, which they cause by making frustratingly boneheaded decisions like this. I get that they’re into software and data mining, but the thing is they could create a compelling ecosystem to facilitate their primary business. And they just don’t. And even their software suffers from abandonment issues, in a manner of speaking.

The one way I could understand this decision is that it’s their only option due to the infamous supply chain constraints and they’ve really figured out a way to optimize the hell out of older components.

I’d say it’s more likely that they started development on it using that processor and it’s been delayed a million times for whatever reason that at this point they don’t have time to switch to the newest and flush out any bugs.

Or they’re just cheap and like to cut corners because they think nobody will notice.

I’ll truly be shocked if they throw a 4 year old professor in this thing. That’ll even top the 3XL notch as a major head scratcher for me.
I won’t and sadly, expect it to happen. They’ve been very forward in highlighting the presence of Tensor chips in their devices whenever possible—made a point of mentioning it in both the upcoming Pixel 6a and 7. Why wouldn’t they have mentioned it if there was a Watch equivalent on deck?

I’d love to be surprised but Google has fooled us so many times in the past that I have zero expectations.

9to5Google confirms that the Pixel Watch will use the same processor that was used in the 2018 Galaxy Watch.

And this is why I can’t take Google serious anymore. Just like with their phones they continue to cut corners and expect software to be enough. It’s ridiculous. I’m sure they’ll price their Watch like it’s a premium one similar to the Apple and Galaxy Watches while it will have inferior components like they’ve done with their phone for 5 years.
Wow! Seriously, Google, they never take their products serious. And, I truly hope that tablet was just a placeholder because it looks like something from 2018. I can’t believe it will take them another year to release it.

Remember, this is the same company that just used a hugely inferior modem on the Pixel 6 for no obvious reason.
On top of that, use the same camera sensor over and over for years in their Pixel line and allowed Google and Samsung to catch with in the photo department. Google used to be so far ahead, not so much anymore.

Ladies and gentlemen none this has been confirmed. Its only a rumor

Relax

Leaks are only as good as the source and according to the 9to5Google article, the source doesn’t sound vetted.

Yeah I'm not putting a lot of stock in that one at this point. BUT, if it does turn out that way, the Pixel Watch will be a hard pass for me.

I had to get my Note 10 repaired so I used an iPhone XR for a couple weeks. I much prefer android and I'd love to upgrade, but there is nothing compelling enough for me to do so. Honestly the iPhone 13 Pro Max in my eyes is the best phone on the market. Paired with the apple watch, that is a knockout combo. I just wish something android could do the same.

My wife has the S22 plus and I think my Note 10 has the better battery. I have co workers that have pixel 6 (non pro) and both told me not to get it because they have cell signal issues and the finger print reader is garbage. With as much as I travel, a weak modem is a hard pass. Not too mention the rumor of a 4 yr old chip going in the pixel watch....

I’ve read about the fingerprint issue, but thought that had improved with updates, or is it still as bad on the 6?

Also never heard about poor signal issues, is this worldwide as I’m in UK and don’t want signal issues.

Is getting the 6 still a good buy at this time? Waited for the 6a to see but can get a discount on the 6 so only around £100 more than a 6, and 6 has better camera and bigger screen.

This is for a birthday present next month, so waiting for the 7 isn’t an option.

The FP scanner is still trash in my Pixel 6, even on the latest Android 13 Beta 2 and the cell signal is horrible.

I’d say hell no to the Pixel 6 series. Get a Samsung device if you want Android.

Oh.., this has stopped me i tracks. I can get a good deal on the 6, Samsung is a lot more. It’s not for me but for son, who’s Android.

When you say FP is trash, is this still all 6’s? Could it be hardware problem on yours, or are they all? Read in here that is improved that’s all.

Signal quality is working to hear though, wouldn’t expected that. Is this on all networks where you are or specific?

Anyone else have these problems still?

I’ve had two separate Pixel 6 devices. Sold the last one just yesterday, in fact. Both of the fingerprint scanners, even after whatever updates they’ve promised (as well as the Android 13 previews), have been nothing short of trash and haven’t improved much if at all. The scanner is inconsistent, unreliable, and ultimately slow. Would be much more liveable if face unlock was available.

I’m curious. All of the people who say their fingerprint scanner is just fine, do they have the magical Pixel 6 that we all want, or are they way more willing to live with it than I am?

I would bet most have the 6 Pro. I know hardware is allegedly the same, but I've owned both and my Pro has been much better.

Owned 2 6 pros and both FP readers have been fine. Occasional fail but updates have made it faster. I'll agree that the FP reader is definitely a sore spot for the 6 series but the issue is a tad bit overblown.

Unless everyone is walking around with ashy and dry hands..shame on yall.

Sold my 6 a while back, but can confirm that the FP sensor is the worst I’ve used in the past 5 years. Worse than that is the signal. The modem they used in these phone leads to constant drops in signal and constant switching between LTE and 5G in my area where it was never a problem before and hasn’t been a problem since I switched to an iPhone.

Steer clear of the Pixel 6.

I used the 6 and 6 Pro for about a month each. I had much better luck with the FP sensor on the 6 Pro, which hardly ever failed. The regular 6 was a pain in the posterior.

Strange, you’d think the FP scanner hardware would be the same in both, and the software will be the same

I returned my release day Pixel 6 purchase after two weeks. Not impressed at all.

OnePlus 8T is a far better device in every way other than camera software and gen1 of the new Tensor processor (that has not exactly lit the world on fire).

Other thing I really like: OxygenOS has far less of a kindergarten cookie cutter look to it!

Hasn’t it got better though with updates?

Anyone like the 6, as now I’m not sure what to do! I was all decided before….the perils of forums!!

The discount is good so the 6 would be £480 in UK for me, decent for this. Obviously if it was £10 and the FP and signal didn’t work then it’s too expensive at that.

My concern is, what’s changed since the last iterations of Wear OS from Google? At its best past moments, hardware was all over the spectrum in regards to quality, the OS experience was mediocre, and developer support was next to non-existent. What’s different now that’s going to make the Google Watch experience worth using? I don’t see anything compelling at all.
If I'm not mistaken... I don't believe Google has ever made a Watch, so this is new territory for them. And I never really been a WearOS user up until Samsung released Galaxy Watch 4, which I use daily. I enjoy all that comes with it.. from various watch faces, notifications, fitness and navigating the UI.

I think as tech enthusiast we are caught up in the Apple Watch space and believe there's no alternative to it. But I found it in the Galaxy Watch 4 and I think that could make a difference in pushing Google to make a better product.

Agreed. And if they had big things planned or they were happy with the state of Watch OS, they would have showed it off at the IO event last week.
I agree they didn't show much of WearOS at the event, because to be honest they compete with Samsung at this point. Right now, the latest WearOS version is on Samsung devices and this was a Google event. But they did share images of what's to come with Pixel WearOS in regards to FitBit integration and Google Home (which I'm anxious to try out).

But it was said that it's to be released during the Pixel 7/7 Pro, which they only shared images of those phones. I think we will get more information on Pixel WearOS when Pixel 7/7 Pro event is shown.

The display is sub par/old inventory (60Hz with yellow-ish tint), charging times are abysmal, fingerprint reader was soso at best, Google A12 was horrid, the fonts were squatty yet grainy, updates were all over the place, mobile radio ("new" signal dropping Samsung) is a caca, etc.

Maybe the 7 will be an improvement worthy of $600+ USD.

It’s a (up to) 90Hz display, and has fast charging of 50% for 30m with a 30W charger?

I personally think the P6 is a great phone with a terrible fingerprint sensor. But, I get around that with pairing to a watch that keeps it unlocked. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one at a good price, it has a great camera, pretty good battery life and excellent software support.

Dude don't let the opinion of one or two people steer you away from this phone. There are plenty of pixel 6 users who love their devices.

The phone is not without it's faults- cell reception is a little weaker compared to my iPhone 13 pro max. Battery is probably on par with my older 12 pro. I get over 7 hours in sot. Not bad but not 13 pro max. Overheating occasionally.

At the end of the day, the only way to find out if the phone is for you is to buy it? Right? Try it out. If you don't like it then return it but gathering feedback from this forum, while wise, will leave you exhausted and confused.

Buy it or wait for the pixel 7

Thanks, I do take opinions on it good and bad, but as you say it’s only a portion of all users, and people are more likely to complain than praise sometimes.

I can’t wait for the 7 as it’s for a present next month. I was waiting for the 6a to see, but with the discount I can get the 6 is only around £100 more, and I feel the 6 has features that are worth that.

Samsung also doing some good deals at moment, but just had heard the Pixel series were good 1st party phones.

Thanks
