I used the on device chat feature last night and arranged a repair. She gave 3 options. One was a Google repair (send it away) the other 2 were authorised repair centres to walk in but I just don't have time for that really and none were local at all.

I still have my Pixel 6 as a back up so can swap to that whilst the Pro goes for repair.

The more I thought about it, the more the resale thing bothered me. Even trade in, I'd probably get knocked down on value if I decided to trade it against the new Pixel 7.

If I had to rate battery life champ of the recent Pixel phones I own;

I also have the Pixel 5 ( my son's phone ) , 5a ( Wife's phone ) Pixel 6 ( Daughter's phone ), and Pixel 6 Pro ( my phone ). The Pixel 5 actually has really good battery life, a major step up over the 4 XL's battery stamina, the 5a has EXCELLENT long battery life, best ever for a Pixel phone, but it's a bit stuttery and laggy. The regular Pixel 6 has good battery life, not great, not bad, but for sure better than the 4 XL. And my 6 Pro has ok battery life, a little worse than the Pixel 6.

-Pixel 5a #1 for longest battery life, easily double what the 4 XL got
-Pixel 5 pretty darn good battery life, not 5a great, but kinda close, nice battery life.
-Pixel 6 has pretty good battery life, better than the 6 Pro's, but not as long as the Pixel 5.
-Pixel 6 Pro battery life is just ok, not bad, not great.
-Pixel 4 XL the worst battery life.

I just wish Google could make a Pixel phone with something close to the Pro Max battery life.

Agreed! My reference point for comparison are the pixel 4xl, 5;and 6 pro. As well as multiple iphones including my current iPhone 13 pro max.

Pixel 5 hands down had the best battery life. I could reach 10hrs of SOT occasionally. Just a beast. I'd say the pixel 4xl and 6 pro are kind of similar in SoT for me. 5.5hrs to 7.5hrs. And both phones made me turn off features to preserve battery life. I will say the pixel 4xl was the worst bc outside of lackluster SoT, it also suffered from severe drain. Standby battery and drain seems to be better on the 6 pro but it's also two years newer than the 4xl. I just expected more from Google, especially with such a big battery.

Some days I miss my pixel 5 but realize Google is still trying to find their footing when combining software and hardware. Just running out of chances to give them is all.

On the other hand, my iPhone 13 pro max battery is splendid as ever. Easily reach 10+ hrs of SoT and that's with anything being thrown at it. Full brightness, 5g, all features turned on. It's almost laughable why I'm still on Pixel. I guess I'm a sucker and hopelessly believe Google will make things right one day.

I appreciate Android 12 and the smoothness of UI. As well as all the smart features that actually make your phone feel smart. And to add, I love good design. Pixel hardware team just seems more unique and cutting edge compared to apple design nowadays. IOS is boring too.

Just feel like a rock and a hard place.

Well battery has been a little so-so to my liking. I can charge anytime so it's not such a big deal but I don't know. Sometimes I feel Google should do better in this category....

Totally agree, I love my Pixel 6 Pro, but dang the battery life is mediocre.

Like I really really loved my Pixel 4 XL, the shape, the size, the cool design, but man the battery life was bad. Come on Google get the battery stamina up big time.

Yeah battery life on Pixel phones are average at best even with a large battery. The best battery life I have experienced on any Android phones have been Huawei phones. My Huawei Mate SE and Honor 9X have produced exceptional battery life. Those phones have such good battery life that if I leave them on idle and come back 10-12 hrs later they lose may 2%. My Pixels will drop 15-20% overnight.

I think it has more to do with software than hardware.

Just had my brother round for a visit, spent 10 minutes on his Pixel 6 and I have to say, was very impressed. The last Android phone I had was a Nexus 5X, 2016? It was a decent phone but in that 10 mins it was nearly enough to make me consider one. If only I was not so dependent on Apple Watch..

I love my Apple Watch too. In fact I waste, ogre to continue wearing the watch even with Android. Granted it’s limited but it would tell the time, track steps and exercise on the watch itself no problem. In fact Apple Pay might even work still!

Haha for sure it's all good. We still love our phones and it's a pleasure using it... Sometimes you just have to take a few small negatives and roll with it...

What made you come back? And how does it compare to s22 ultra?
I bought both phones on release day ..so they are part of my rotation though I use my Ultra more ...photos I don't have children or pets so can't say camera on Pixel is better for me ...I like the zoom and screen brightness of the Ultra better ...and I like customization of the Ultra ...s pen I don't use much ..Pixel call screening and voice dictation is really why I love the Pixel experience...overall I think the Ultra is a better phone but there's plenty about the Pixel to make me happy ...I also find the Pixel better to carry around daily

Anyone have this wallpaper please

not sure why those aren't in the regular Wallpaper app on my 6 Pro?
As an owner of a Pixel 4a, 4a 5G and Pixel 6. I don't have the exact same wallpapers on all three phones. I believe Google decided to make some wallpapers available to certain phones. That's why you may not see a wallpaper on a certain Pixel phone while seeing it on another Pixel. I think that's a rather daft idea. They should be available on the entire line of Pixels, minus the wallpaper with the Phone model number.

There are a few quirks here and there with the phone, but I'm surviving without an iPhone full-time. I'm on the beta as well!

Also, I was around a few NASA engineers and Caltech professors recently and many of them had Pixels. :)

The pixel 6 was on sale last weekend and I couldn't resist, I paid 426 eur for it, android 12 feels great, it's just a pleasure to use, it feels so modern. I really like the back of the phone, love those playful colors google chose, tensor feels pretty ok unlike the choppy cpu on the pixel 5, but the pixel 6`s screen ... it is bad! Why do they have to screw their hardware everytime?

The screen has a pink off axis color shift in pretty much any angle except in you look at the screen completely parallel to my face, the grey backgrounds also have a pink tint to them and they look "grainy", using my phone in bed at night while the phone is in dark mode makes it terribly obvious, chrome, the notification bar ... They are full of grain and vertical lines ... I could swear that the pixel 5 had a better screen... my iphone 12, which I was planning on selling (so that I'd keep the pixel 6) also has a blue off axis color shift but you gotta tilt the phone quite a bit more to see it.

Funnily enough unlike what I was expecting because of the universal comments, I think the fingerprint scanner is pretty decent, to me if feels an upgrade after having to deal with face ID while wearing a mask the last 2 years. Also smart lock with my location when I'm home and while I'm riding the train or bus I use smart lock with my headphones, it is so nice.

I really miss those beautiful symmetrical bezels the pixel 5 had. I'm torn I don't know if to keep the phone and wait for the pixel 7 and hopefully get a decent screen or pay Timmy Cook 1150 for the iphone 14 pro , almost 3 times the price I paid for this pixel 6, gotta make up my mind.

My screen is fine. It doesn't exhibit any pink or color hue shifts. The FPS is okay, slow but okay as i've just come to accept that it won't be better than a rear FPS. I would NEVER pay $1150 for a phone. My limit is $600. I can buy two Pixels for the price of an iPhone.

And since Apple doesn't have anything like "Google's Call Screener", it's a 100% NO purchase for me.

I have gotten used to the pink tint but what about the "dirty grays"? They are everywhere since android 12 uses dark grey backgrounds instead of black :/

Did a fresh install, factory reset of Android 13 beta 3.

Really runs smooth and no bugs I see yet. It's not that much different than 12, just some tweaks and minor differences. But I like it.
