Ooh. Nice find! I guess that’s the golden one. It looks lovely. It’s a bit conspicuous though. I wonder what some of the people who complained the blue iPhone Pro is inappropriate for the boardroom on the main forum will say about it. But there’s the black and grey model and plenty of cases that can make it look like a boardroom appropriate slab.

There have been a lot of leaks on the XDA Forums about the 6Pro. It’s going to have an excellent display. The leaks about the SOC apparently alarm some people but I think in this case the leaks don’t give us an accurate estimate of what performance will be like in the real world.

I wish I could see more leaks about the regular 6.
There's not much to leak about the 6 really. It's a cheaper 6 Pro. We already knew it has a slower refresh rate, smaller battery, 8GB RAM instead of 12GB, no telephoto lens, and obviously a smaller size. Should use the same SoC and come in $100-$200 cheaper.

The SoC has been confirmed to have two X1 cores which is a first but it's also paired with 4 older A76 cores instead of the 4 A78 cores that the Snapdragon 888 and Exynos 2100 use so performance will be interesting. If those X1 cores don't throttle as much as they do with their higher clocks on the Snapdragon and Exynos chips it could be a worthwhile tradeoff. We will have to see I guess.

At least the Pixel 6 Pro will be a massive night and day humongous upgrade over last year's Pixel 5.

Which will be something to get excited for.

Whereas iPhone 13 Max from iPhone 12 Max it's like pretty much the same phone. Zero excitement.

I wrote that other post sort of in tongue and cheek with heavy sarcasm

Ummm I am an Note/fold lover but saying that the 6 is heads over heels a major upgrade than the 5 when I hated the. 5 so it doesn’t phase me. It’s like running a race and coming in second to apple and in FIRST PLACE is Samsung

Apple does make great phones with both software and hardware to match but lets be real. We are at the point where you can only do so much with a smartphone. Apple is basically acknowledging this because their upgrades are now incremental and the new feature every year is a new processor, more storage and new colors.

Google is no different as they are finally designing their own hardware and this year it's all about Material You.

I never really paid attention to the iMessage world until I saw it first hand today (I have a Note 10). I am starting a new job (in the US) and there are 17 of us in the new hire class. We decided at lunch to get a group chat together and guess who was responsible for the green bubble?!

At the end of the day a co-worker sent a video through the chat of a presentation. Someone responded/asked why the video looked like sh\t. I think we all know why so I told them to remove me from the chat. I wish the US embraced 3rd party messaging apps.

What do you mean by third party messaging apps? There are a ton in playstore and AppStore

Smartphones haven't stagnated or stopped innovating. Only Apple has.

Look at the upcoming Pixel 6 compared to the Pixel 5, it's a massive night and day dramatic change. Whole new design, different size and shape, all new hardware, all new software style.

This is why I like the Pixel line, they are willing to change each and every year, with an all new Design, give us something brand new every 12 months.

That's also why I liked the Nexus line too, each and every year a different manufacturer got the chance to make a Nexus phone, with their own unique design and style, and every year we got a different phone. Some years a better phone, some years a worse phone. But it was exciting to see the new Nexus phone each year. It was never a copycat same design used for several years in row, no way, never.

I hate how Apple keeps the same overall design, for like 4 to 5 years, it's lame, boring, and shows no balls to go far out there and just try something new and fresh.

Even Samsung is willing to change their design and shape and sizes each year. Yeah the Galaxy line doesn't look night and day different each year, but they are always slightly different, never a copycat from the previous year. I appreciate that Samsung does that.

Ok, rant over. LOL :)

4 or 5 years the same? I think not

🤣 The Incredible Hulk has entered the conversation.

Chill out. Competition is healthy and forces Apple to keep on top of their game. If not for Android phones we would probably be looking at the iPhone 5sssssssss given the glacial pace at which Apple likes to change form factors and add features.

Having said that, I ordered an IPhone 13 Pro today. I’ll upgrade an iPhone mini in the spring and will likely order and iPhone 14 next year. We’re not here to crap on the iPhone, even if some of our observations are critical. We do some compare and contrast with the iPhone in hopefully a healthy way most of the time.

But this is a topic to discuss the Pixel 6/6 Pro and our hopes and observations of what Google is doing for it. You are cordially invited to contribute to that discussion but please, we don’t need the Hulk smash here. I say that with respect and not trying to pretend that I’m a moderator or stepping on your right to express your opinion.

Those amazing iPhone 14 leaks last week, I don't know, we've seen so many iPhone leaks and rumors over the years, and then when it actually comes out, is nothing like those rumors. I'm highly doubtful that what Apple releases next year, is that leaked iPhone 14. I wish, but I'm very doubtful.

I think Jon Prosser might have fallen into a trap designed to catch the leakers at Apple. Remember a week or two ago we heard of Apple using “double agents” to catch leakers? And it was successful. I don’t think we will know at all what iPhone 14 will be like. Even the leaks about the colors were messy this year.

Meanwhile at Google, the leaks seem to be done strategically to build controversy and interest and to ease people into what’s coming. Because it is a very different look for them and of course a new internal configuration.

And still I wouldn’t mind seeing yet more leaks! Lol.

Surely Apple cannot be cooking up another minute iPhone iteration for 2022

iPhone 14 has to be something ground breaking close to those leaks

At this point something has to give in at Apple one way or the other

We always say that here on these forums, but they move at their own pace come hell or high water because they always sell to the general public very well.

I waited years for stereo audio recording capability to come to iPhone. I’d first experienced it on Samsung S7.

I have my 13 PM Sierra Blue to pick up next Friday at my closest Apple store.

But I gotta say I am more excited about what Big G has to offer in the Pixel 6 pro to be honest!
Ordered the 256 13 PM Sierra blue myself. Not really an exciting update / upgrade over the 12 PM but what the heck. (Not gonna upgrade from Apple Watch 6 to 7 though as that update is even more of a non event).

Yet I still really want to see what Google pull out with the Pixel 6 / 6 Pro. It’s been an interesting ride with the Pixel line up and whilst I like my Pixel 5 is did feel like a back step from the Pixel 4 in everything but battery life. My biggest concern with the new pixel and the ‘tensor’ hype-train is that it could end up just being the big new innovation that Google ditches in 2022 much like many of the other ‘pixel flagship hardware additions’ . That being said it won’t stop me picking one up 😉🙂 Besides we can at least rest assured it’ll have a good camera 🤞

Yeah it’s pretty exciting. I’m not going Pro this time but I look forward to seeing what they do and keeping fingers crossed I’ll get a try at the coral 6 this winter. If not, I will live vicariously through you!

If Google knocks it out of the park I may find myself choosing between Pixel and Samsung. It’s just kind of hard budgeting for running both of them at flagship levels. I’m going to have to pick one or the other.

I’m going to take a hard look at what’s going on with vanilla Android 12. I’m going to take a hard look at what’s going on with One UI on 12.

This is actually going to be an absolutely interesting comparison.

Still have my Pixel 4 XL and wow do I still find this device to be so beautiful and high quality.

If it had a bigger battery like 4,500mAh and not the 3,700mAh and had a high end comparable screen to like the 11 Pro Max or Galaxy S20, it could've been the best #1 smartphone that year. Oh well.

My Pixel 5a in comparison does feel like a cheap budget phone next to the 4 XL, which I know it is. But now I want to see a flagship level quality phone from Google. I think the Pixel 6 line will be it.

Just wish the smaller Pixel 6 also had a 120hz screen.

Nice. I might be tempted to try it out of the Pixel 6 Pro disappoints.

Also, it sounds like the rumored Pixel Fold is dropping this fall as well. It'll be interesting to see what that looks like.

If the Pixek 6 Pro is all that the leaks have portrayed it to be......I will get rid of my S21 Ultra and just keep one Android and one iPhone.

I don't know why I got rid of my Pixel 4 XL.. Well I know why I got pissed when I found out they were ditching facial recognition.. Haha but I liked that phone.. Battery was decent enough for me...

Have seen a few upgrades to some of my Google Apps on my Flip 3. I've read that Material You is rolling out across a lot of Google apps, and have seen it with Gmail and Sheets which both do look a lot nicer!
Looking forward to seeing how it is all tied together with the Pixel 6.

Those on West Coast got heads up ShakeAlert for yesterday's earthquake. Didn't get anything on my Samsung or Apple devices. More reason to look forward to Pixel 6 Pro.

https://blog.google/products/android/earthquake-detection-and-alerts/

Maybe check around the settings to see if its disabled on your Samsung. It's supposed to be available to all Androids.
These show a OneUI device getting the eartquake alerts:

We know everything about this phone already. Google is advertising the phone as though it’s been released already. When are they going to officially announce this phone?? This is kinda ridiculous already.

I would imagine next couple of weeks

Google's birthday is September 27th so it would be nice if the Pixel 6 release coincides with that.
