Well at least the pony is moving! I just checked and either they don’t bother scanning mine, or it really still is just sitting in California, perhaps dreading the idea of traveling east to land in hurricane force winds and live with me under a dark sky.

We are having the worst stormy weather since the last major hurricane hit in 2003. I hope my neighbors didn’t put their recycling out because I am the one that always ends up having to go around and pick it all up and put back into their bins and secure their bins for them. Otherwise people really do just let the rubbish sit strewn all over the place, even if they’re home and see it. It’s funny but it seems our worst windy day almost always seem to fall on recycle pickup day. I do get quite a lot of exercise out of it. My Apple Watch is always thrilled with me on windy recycle days. 🤣

Well regardless of whether or not I get my phone today I am naming it Stormy. And in this weather, I can see the plane being unable to land safely, so I’m not getting my hopes up for delivery today. People’s safety is more important.

I think @Supersonicc is referring to linking Apple Music to Google Home.. that allows Apple Music to be used with Google Assistant. Well, at least… that’s what I do with Google Assistant. I have YT Premium to use with YT Music, but I prefer AM.

I have been using Google Assistant for Apple Music since tApple first introduced it for the platform via Google Home and kudos for Apple branching out… I’m waiting for Xbox Series S/X support (P5 came out this past week).
Oh thanks for clearing that up. I have Apple music and YouTube premium with the music as well, but I don't have Google home. Maybe time to start shopping haha

Yours is taking the alternative route of the Oregon Trail, while mine is riding the lazy river upstream in some type of invisible ice storm.

It left Chicagoland over 24 hours ago and hasn't called, messaged, or stopped for a potty anyplace... FWIW Carol Stream is about 6 hour drive from my home in the Twin Cities Metro area.

Curious that my phone came from IL, and yours from across the country. I guess the 6 and the 6 Pro come from different satellite locations.

I think I'm going to order a regular 6.
I really like this Pro, but I am struggling so much with the size it feels very unwieldy. I know I knew all of this, but as I say, telephoto etc.

I'm going to order a 6, do a direct comparison and decide. I think that the best option for me.

I don't think I'd mind if I didn't want to use a case. I really need to protect a phone like this. All glass and metal, it's easily going to get scuffed. And just adding a case takes it to even more uncomfortable levels for me.

The phone itself is a dream. I love it. I just want to be fully satisfied and if I can be more satisfied with the smaller 6 and it's trade offs, I'll take it.

When you guys say linking the phone to Apple music, what exactly are you doing? I have to Apple music app which I'm using but is there a different way I'm missing?
IKR! I have been using Apple Music in all of my Android phones. Is there some feature I am missing?

Actually I am doing all of this on device, and for the record, doing screensots on a Pixel 3 is a bit of a chore, I had to take it out of the case to time the button pressing correctly.

Linking your Pixel's Assistant to Apple Music (Apple account and subscription required)
NO MORE Assistant bleating out something to the effect of "Please sign into the YouTube App" or other such nonsense. I used to have playlists and all kinds of stuff on Google Play Music, but that all dissolved when Google dropped that in favor of the current (Broken IMO) system.

Keep in mind this is on a Pixel 3, but should be the same for all Pixel devices (more or less)
  1. Open Settings

2. Open Apps

3. Open Assistant

image000003.JPG

4. Open "See All Assistant Settings"

image000000.JPG

5. Open Music

image000002.JPG

6. Touch on Apple Muisic, and input your Apple ID

After this was completed, I can now use assistant on my phone to play playlists and cast that audio to anything I like. Additionally, it must have updated my google profile as it now also works on my Google Home Mini.

Hope this helps others. Nice that Google and Apple do play well together sometimes! ;) .

In my case I also have the Apple Music app installed and configured on my Pixel so when I do ask Assistant to play a song or tune the following happens.

I feel the same way with my iPhone 12 Pro Max, any case makes the phone feel like twice the size. And with no ease feels just right, but slippery. Then I tried the very thin cases and they are better, but still add bulk to an already large phone. Only cases I could use on my 12 Pro max were the slim thin barely there cases, but those feel so flimsy, I took them off, and ran naked.

Indeed! It looks like a chore! For me, opening up Google Home gives an option to link Apple Music.. then log in and it’s added.

Google Home was my first and still Voice Assistant for the house… it’s reliable and it works! Definitely recommend it... I do plan on buying a Nest Hub Max for the kitchen.

Yeah I could just run it naked, but I'll hate it hwhe it starts getting scuffed up.
Plus I was really drawn to the regular 6 when I had hands on last weekend, so want to give both a shot before settling on one

I think that's going to be my Christmas gift this year to myself. It's a good idea. I might as well get with the program at home

I was very tempted by the Nest Hub Max for my kitchen. And then I realized I had GA on my sonos right there - and the main reason I wanted one for the kitchen was to view recipes while I was cooking and didn't want my laptop on the counter. So I took advantage of a sale and actually bought a Kindle Fire HD10 for like $79 and now I don't care if it gets flour, water, etc on it.

At least some of you have tracking numbers. I don't even have that yet LOL
One thing I will give Apple, their logistics and order delivery process / system seems to be far superior in my experience. My iPad Mini came on time, and so did many iPhone 13 orders friends submitted on preorder day.

Hope you get some good news

I am still an OG Homepod user. The Sound quality of a stereo pair, and now with the updates for Dolby and spatial Audio make the listening experience a total Joy.

Funny thing for me, Google assistant has far more misses in my household than Siri does for what I need done.
1. It refuses to play some playlists I have, even when I specifically call out "play my plalist xxxx" It will play a song by an artist or a title of a similar name.

2. Google Home automation is jankey for me. All of my switches, bulbs, plugs, lights that are Homekit aware, are also paired with Google (I make sure my house is platform indipendent). Some devices don't respond at all to voice under Assistant (Phone or Google Home), and I can't seem to get groupings / scenes to work properly with Google v.s. Apple.

3. While I like the way some of the Nest speakers sound, No telling how long Apple / Google will get along with their Apple Music connection into Google ecosystem. I trusted google by subscribing to Play Music, and for many other services that they dropped. I am hesitant to buy more of their home products if they decide to drop them later for another hobby.

That said, I do have to use Assistant for a couple home devices, as Siri / Apple will not let me control them despite them being listed as being HomeKit ready. Guests at my house kinda think I am crazy when I am using both assistants for different things.

Good luck! I hope you get the 6 soon and that it meets your needs. I certainly understand your dilemma.

I'm benching my 13 Pro. I'm going to do camera comparisons on it and leave my Sim in it, but when my Apple Watch gets here it's taking over for that line for texts and calls. I've already done calls on my current watch. In time, I hope I can recover and go back to my purple 12 mini. I will not take a chance and try the 13 mini. I'm not in a mood to take chances anymore.

I'm going to have to switch to either my Samsung s21 ultra or the Pixel 6 Pro for most of everything else I enjoy doing on the smartphone. I can't deal with the eye strain and headaches anymore. I don't know what Apple is doing with these displays but they just play rough with my nervous system.

Valid. This is t-mobile's f'up in my opinion. Even their order tracker page isn't consistent or updated correction. It says my order is delayed. But has a shipping date but the delivery date is still before that. Then if I log in, my shipping date is a date range, not a specific date. That's some bad infrastructure going on there.

ETA: Also, they did charge me yesterday morning - which I would have thought meant it was actually out the door.

Yeah exactly this, I’ve just never linked a Pixel to Apple Music using Google Assistant before so got excited when I found this out!
