For anyone who got a Verizon Pixel 6 or 6 Pro, did it come with a Verizon SIM card preinstalled? My GF got a Verizon Sorta Sunny 6 Pro as she doesn’t care about having an unlocked bootloader and it came preinstalled with a Verizon SIM card. I just threw it away and moved the SIM over from her 12 Pro. It worked fine I’m just not used to new phones with SIM cards already preinstalled.

You did the right thing. Remove and trash the included SIM card before turning on phone to avoid carrier locking. Try a non-Verizon SIM card to confirm if it's carrier unlocked.

Would someone mind telling me the procedure on how to get eSim working on a Pixel phone? I wanted to switch between my Pixel 6 and Pixel 4a 5G and wanted to avoid having to swap the SIM card between the two.

Fantastic sort-of-review. I really like this guy's thoughts and take on both the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. Specifically the size, last week he did an unboxing and gushed all over the beauty of the Cloudy White Pixel 6 Pro. Now today he's back with more thoughts, not a full on review yet, but his take on both phones and the sizes.

At first he's like the 6 Pro is super nice, but almost too large and too fancy, not typical for a Google Pixel phone, then goes to the 6 and says yeah this feels more Pixel, not as nice, but still good, and what he expects from Google. Then he said, let me try the 6 Pro again a few days later, and he's immediately drawn into the beautiful screen. and better haptics, and then changes his mind, and says, ok, maybe a fancy high end large Pixel is ok, and he ended up liking it, a lot.

Depends on carrier sadly. Some will let you do with their online tools, others require a call or online chat.

I am on Visible a sub of Verizon and they required a chat session to do this for me. Was simple enough, but had to wait an hour in an online chat line :( .

Lol this guy is basically me.
Pro is amazing. Very immersive, but very big and unwieldy. Amazing haptics, gorgeous screen and great telephoto.

But I'll admit, it doesn't feel like a Google phone at all. Feels like a Huawei / Samsung. Even with Material You running on the thing.
That's not a criticism, but I totally get what he means when he says it's not 'Googley'. It's EXACTLY how I feel about it. I feel like I'm using a Samsung with a Pixel launcher.

That's exactly my thought. Feels like a Samsung with pixel software. I'm not sure how I feel about it. People have long asked for the "Google edition" on Samsung devices like some of the devices from several years ago and that's exactly what this seems to be. Honestly after a few hours with it I'm just kinda mixed about it. Gonna put it thru its paces. But nothing just excites me anymore after having the Fold 3 and Fold 2 previously. Don't get me wrong it's a very nice device and an upgrade to the pixel line in almost every way imaginable but I'm just not wowed by it like I thought I'd be. But my wife wasn't initially wowed by me either. I'm sure over time it'll grow on me like I did on her.

And they lived happily ever after the end

I tell you what I want. I want to fold with Google on it. Now you're talking. I love the Google experience. Mix it with some Samsung customizations and material. 12 and we got the perfect Frankenstein. Let's go!

Is it just me or has pixel night more gotten worse this year? Everything looks so washed out. I've never been a fan of Pixel night mode because it tries to make the night look like day time but I feel like someone's put a grey filter over some of these night mode images I'm seeing, super weird. I don't remember Pixel 5 having this issue.

For the past few years I've thought Pixel does a better job at beautiful colors than iPhone but it seems like the iPhone has gotten so much better at producing vibrant colors on the 13 series.

I think to some degree this year's pixel is trying to do something I hated about the 12 series iPhones, it's trying to boost up details in the shadows too much to the point where it sacrifices some drama and depth in the shot.

Pixel does a much better job at capturing the texture on clothing so I think it does a better job with people at subjects (also the skins tones on Pixel are vastly better than iPhone). iPhone is too constrasy so the folds and textures in people's clothing doesn't look as good. The iPhone team need to copy Pixel's skin tone algorithm because black/brown skin looks so much nicer. iPhones when they see brown skin: "Nice skin bro! I'm gonna make it look orange instead!"

My friend took delivery of his 6 Pro today and I got some brief hands on time with it. This was my first impression as well as soon as he handed it to me..felt like a Samsung phone in my hand with the curved display and sides. Really didn’t like the aesthetic but I realize that’s a ‘me’ thing. I do like the unique look of the visor for the cameras and the screen seems nice and vibrant—just can’t get past the curved edges.

Good news I checked the FedEx shipping and it shows it arrived at a town 10 mi for me just recently but I have no idea what that means? Will I see that delivery tonight on a Friday night? Or will it be stuck and not come to me Monday?

Well it’s official. After waiting all day because it said our phones were on schedule for delivery by end of day, my husband’s official status is pending. Whatever that means.

Mine is “potentially delayed”.

Here he is again:

Having some buyers remorse, just posted a “feeler” in the marketplace. If anyone has Verizon. Paid off, but I think they won’t unlock for 60 days
I don’t want to spam the forum with memes. So look at the WUT kitty above you. You get the WUT kitty too! 😂. How long have you had the phone now?

Still have my iPhone 12. I think my problem is I have an android fetish, I like the idea of android and practice it’s never as great as I think it will be. I need to learn to just stick with iPhone.
Same. If my only device was my phone, I’d get along with Android just great. But factor in the Apple Watch, my family (specifically my kids) using Apple gear and my smarthome setup (Apple’s Home app is a more feature-rich smart home hub) and it’s really not a fair comparison.

I wasn't that impressed with night mode out of the box until I got the OS update but still too early to make final judgement. Another thing to keep in mind is the pioneer of night mode, Marc Levoy, is no longer with Google so it's to be seen how that will impact night mode performance down the road or if he's even needed anymore when Google can run any scenario through DeepMind and get the best solution.
