That's exactly my thought. Feels like a Samsung with pixel software. I'm not sure how I feel about it. People have long asked for the "Google edition" on Samsung devices like some of the devices from several years ago and that's exactly what this seems to be. Honestly after a few hours with it I'm just kinda mixed about it. Gonna put it thru its paces. But nothing just excites me anymore after having the Fold 3 and Fold 2 previously. Don't get me wrong it's a very nice device and an upgrade to the pixel line in almost every way imaginable but I'm just not wowed by it like I thought I'd be. But my wife wasn't initially wowed by me either. I'm sure over time it'll grow on me like I did on her.
I have always wanted a Samsung phone; but, every time I go into a store and look at one I leave without buying. I just don't like the software but on paper it appeals to me. The Pixel 6 Pro makes me think it's Samsung hardware and Google software. It's what I've been looking for. I don't have mine yet but I'm supposed to get it on Friday November 5th. Been using my GF's 6 Pro and it's really good, in my opinion. From what I've seen so far I'm thinking the Pixel 6 Pro will be my main phone with my iPhone 13 Mini being my back up for when I need a smaller device.

QQ before my phone arrives. I currently have an S8 with a t-mobile sim card in it. Is it better/typical to just transfer the sim to the Pixel 6 Pro. Or is it better to just go the eSim route? Never used an eSim. I won't be using multiple carriers/lines...so not sure I should use eSim...

I am by far no expert on this subject, however I swap SIM cards all the time and just recently started using E-Sim in my newest phones. I like the freedom to move from device to device without having to contact the carrier. Most carriers don't need a call for you to move a physical SIM, but all of them either need a Website tool, or a call to them to move an E-Sim.

My 2 Physical SIM cards are AT&T, and Mint Mobile (An MVNO of T-Mobile). In both cases, I have zero issue moving the sim to different devices, or even using it in the SIM slot in my car. (The SIM in my car provides a hotspot, and data for Google Maps / Traffic and Search directly within my factory car MMI).

Regarding 5G
The SIM in my Pixel 3 is the same one that came with my iPhone 6s from AT&T. That carrier doesn't specify the need to switch to a newer SIM to get 5G, and I was able to hit AT&T 5G for the short time I had it in my iPhone 13 Pro. Verizon does seem to state you need a new SIM for 5G, but Visible on their same network (their own sub) says all of their SIM cards work with 5G on their network. T-Mobile is a bit nebulous on the subject too, but worst case you put that SIM in your new phone, everything but 5G works, so you would need to request a fresh one.

Has there been any hint as to when the Pixel stand 2 will actually be available, other than coming soon? Surprised they didn't get it ready in time with the Pixel release.

Is it just me or has pixel night more gotten worse this year? Everything looks so washed out. I've never been a fan of Pixel night mode because it tries to make the night look like day time but I feel like someone's put a grey filter over some of these night mode images I'm seeing, super weird. I don't remember Pixel 5 having this issue.

For the past few years I've thought Pixel does a better job at beautiful colors than iPhone but it seems like the iPhone has gotten so much better at producing vibrant colors on the 13 series.

I think to some degree this year's pixel is trying to do something I hated about the 12 series iPhones, it's trying to boost up details in the shadows too much to the point where it sacrifices some drama and depth in the shot.

Pixel does a much better job at capturing the texture on clothing so I think it does a better job with people at subjects (also the skins tones on Pixel are vastly better than iPhone). iPhone is too constrasy so the folds and textures in people's clothing doesn't look as good. The iPhone team need to copy Pixel's skin tone algorithm because black/brown skin looks so much nicer. iPhones when they see brown skin: "Nice skin bro! I'm gonna make it look orange instead!"

So far my experience is night mode isn’t as good as
s21 ultra. Pixel camera is very good but I get those who say lacks consistency at this stage. I’m sure updates will help but will see

After using the pixel 6 pro for few days I would say I do prefer oneUI over the pixel experience

Curious, what issues are you talking about? The camera is excellent and should only get better. No worries there.

Battery life is odd. I hear some people having excellent battery life and some bad. I'm only on day 2 so I can't judge yet.

Android 12 has been great so far. No bugs and smooth as hell.

I’ve just had some app bugs in Google photos where kept crashing. Battery life has since settled down and not an issue.

Camera is very good but certain shots have seemed grainy. Updates I’m sure will improve things over time.

Are you having a lot of problems with it? Battery life on my 13 Pro took close to 3 weeks to normalize. It was great. It was bad. It was great. It was okay. Now it’s settled into eh, not bad.

iOS was a dumpster fire but seems to be improving as well. My phone has stopped freezing up and acting weird. Well the camera app is still a bit uncharacteristically unpredictable. But it’s acceptable most of the time and phenomenal at times.

S21 Ultra…okay I love mine and I think it’s a viable choice for you. But take a deep breath and slow down. Don’t do anything impulsively. Give your phone a chance to settle down a bit. You’ve got some more days to get a feel for it.

I’ve stopped watching reviews. I don’t have enough time for one thing. Another, I think some reviewers are causing panic.

Lisa Gade’s review was the last one I saw. She was calm and overall honest and positive without fan girling. I honestly can’t take these other people anymore. Too much drama.

Yeah battery life seems ok now. Camera is very good for most part but have had some consistency issues but I’m sure will settle down. On my experience so far I prefer the s21 ultra in most areas. OneUI I think is better than pixel experience for me. I’ve ordered the s21 ultra for today so will go head to head and make a decision

Agree regarding night mode. Google seems to want to use AI tricks to make it look like a day picture rather than a well lit night picture. Its impressive but it doesn't look natural.

First full day off the charger at 6:30 am and back on at 10:30 pm. Used it all day for email, social media reading, you tube, taking pics etc. Brightness at 90% , have 5g turned off and was on wifi for 80% of the day. Had 18% left when I went to bed and this was the SOT for the day , not unhappy with this.

I've used 62% battery today, purely on WiFi and have 5G & wellbeing switched off for a total of 3hrs 45min screen time. Not exactly stellar.

Yikes. It's very Pix 3XL territory there. How strange, because the reviews are all over the place with most bit seeming to make a big deal about battery life.

I remember reviews and Google making a BIG deal about the battery life in the Pixel 4a. I never got those results. Its not woeful but it's not as crazy good as they said it would be. The 4a 5G has a much battery life during the day. That said the 4a could get me by easily all day from 100%. And unless someone is planning to keep their phone for more than 1-2 yrs, there's a good chance we'll be onto the next big thing from Google.

I've just watched Flossy's review on YouTube and he claims that the Pro has amazing battery life after a few days once the phone has settled down and "learnt" your usage habits.

Not sure if that will be the case but he made a big point on how he had to hammer the phone to run it down to then do his charging test.

Well my husband’s 6Pro is reportedly on the FedEx truck and out for delivery. My 6 Pro is apparently just sitting in California now for days. They have now said no delivery date can be provided.

I've switched over to my s21 Ultra for the bulk of internet use. My cellular sims are still in the purple 12 mini and 13 Pro but I can no longer use either one. Even on my s21 Ultra I've had to turn off the 120hz variable and go back to 60hz. I'm going to try doing the same for my 13 Pro.

A few days ago, a 64 gb iPhone Xr showed up on our doorstep. It's a replacement for my late mother-in-law's ancient 3g iPhone. AT&T closed down 3g service so they sent a phone that can work with 4g. I didn't realize my husband still is maintaining her phone line. I'm hoping he will let me switch over to this phone, but he hasn't called yet to see if the phone is free or needs to be paid for. He's inclined to send it back if it's not free. I hope he let's me use it if I can't get used to my 13 Pro on 60fps

If I can't have it, I will try to get my old iPhone SE up and running again. I finally got it back from the kids couple of years ago. I need something to text imessages on and open message links.

So, one thing I'm willing to try when I get my 6 Pro is to run it at 60fps for my vision. I bet that will help with battery life a lot. I've noticed 120 is a battery hog on my phones that have it. Less so with the iPhone than the Samsung. It makes me wonder what Apple does differently. Whatever it is, it messes me up bad.

I'm definitely not getting anything like what he is. I might as well turn off 120hz, I notice zero difference between having it on & off anyway.

I love these pics. I wish I had good stuff like this to to test the camera with on a daily lol
Oh I don't either haha. We just went to a local reclaimed yard to check out some home ware. They sell vintage / Victorian furniture, fireplaces and loads more and with us now owning a Victorian semi, we want to maintain the features. 🙂. Whilst I was there, it struck me as a good place to test the snappers. 😁.

I'm actually shocked how well they came out for point and shoot.

I'm going to have to start doing some driving around places. I'm in New York but with the work from home I haven't had a chance to really go into the city nor do I want to go in. So I'm going to have to start venturing out. My car does need to get some more use anyway. It's been sitting in front of the house more than I want and that's pretty new itself lol
