Only set the phone up so far and am doing the buds now. Leaving watch til last so it is still in the box. The buds are a comfortable fit. I like the different tips to try out.

Currently doing a firmware update on them.

The phone feels exactly the same as the 6 Pro. I'll be honest, I'm not noticing any less of a curve, it feels pretty much the same to me. Not a major issue, as I'm used to it now but expected a slightly 'flatter' feel.

Phone hasn't got 'hot' once during set up. Just a little warm as you'd expect, so already a big improvement over the last gen. Typing this on the 7 pro and so pleased to be back on GBoard. iOS keyboard is utterly horrible in comparison.
That Hazel color is amazing. So glad I ordered that color as well.
Its like Christmas at your place :)

Haha it was intentional too 🤪.
I think if the phone wasn't accented with gold I'd have steered clear of a gold watch, but I actually really like the look of it!

I have already found having Google on my wrist VERY handy. Setting a timer and being able to view notifications and clear the ones I don't want (which also clears them from your phone) is very handy!

But see I think a lot of this if not all of it has to do with software. I say that because I have owned two Huawei phones and they offer amazing battery life. I can leave my Huawei phone idling overnight and in the morning it's lost MAYBE 1% battery life. Everyone of my Pixel's drops between 8-12% overnight in idle mode.

A 5000a battery is the same for everyone. It has got to be the OS that is doing stuff in the background that eats away at the battery. That is just my theory of course. Heck even the Motorola phones with a similar 5000a battery can outdo a Pixel with the same battery size by double or triple the amount.

Oh I’m sure some of it is software. But if you read the article, it’s also just that Google takes the cheap route with hardware whenever possible. Instead of using the newest LTPO display that Samsung and Apple are using, they’re using a last gen version that’s less efficient and can’t drop refresh rate as much which will lead to more drain. Just like they continue to use last gen modems. Just like they use last gen FP sensors. Just like they use last gen storage type. Just like they use last gen charging speeds. I could go on and on.

To their credit, they do a lot of magic with software to make the most of this hardware. But I think a lot of people out there, especially those buying the Pro models, would love for them to just once use top of the line hardware to go with their top of the line software. I would switch over in a heartbeat. But Google have too much of an ego and insist on proving they can make mediocre hardware better with software.

Aesthetically the watch is great. Google were smart about choosing their watch faces to hide the giant bezels, which I still find ridiculous.

It’ll be interesting to hear how software and battery life are with the Pixel watch. I personally hate Fitbit software and already see instances where they lock basic features behind paywalls and throw ads in there which is a joke. But I guess we’ll see.

And that's a fair take but the Huawei phones I have owned Honor 9X and the Huawei Mate SE were both budget phones. Those phones using budget parts and panels, still outperform Google's phones. The Motorola phones are considered budget devices as well. Those phones are typically under $200 and yet they outperform the Pixel's battery wise. There has got to be something in the software that is eating away at the battery.

Could it be the Google's AI that is built into the Pixel's doing that? I don't know but I think a lot of the problems appear to be software related. Even if we include the panel as a potential battery drainer we then have to ask why is it that a Pixel phone loses 8-12% battery life with the screen turned off and idling overnight?

Some more photos of the Hazel colour plus watch and buds. I promise I'll stop spamming after this but it's been quiet considering ghe phones out today! I have been off work though hence my activity 🤭.

Also, it's nice that my battery widget now has more than just my phone in there ☺️.

First impressions of all of these devices are great. It feels like Google are building a nice little eco system.

100% agree.

It's so frustrating how Google cuts corners to save a penny here or there, when they could just source the current new gen parts, and yeah charge a bit higher price for the phone, but that's ok, as along as were getting top notch hardware matching the competition.

Makes me scratch my head why they do this? Do they just not care and are cheapskates? Or do they think people won't notice and try to skate by?

As I mentioned earlier, is it mostly budget parts that is causing the excess battery drain? I'm still not convinced because we would first have to explain why is it that Pixel phones drops 8-12% battery drain overnight in idle mode with the screen turned off. We would also have to answer why is it that other budget phones under $200 are not experiencing this problem such as Huawei and Motorola phones? I don't believe Google AI software which is tailored to the Pixel phones runs on Motorola and other Android phones.

That's why there has got be another answer besides hardware because two important questions have been raised that have not been answered and they have to do with hardware.

My screen protector just arrived. A cheap tempered glass one. It is awful. It has a circle cut out for the finger print scanner which was not advertised haha.

I will keep it on as I found my pixel 6 got hairline scratches on the screen within days of ownership.

Sure. It's just the default Google one found by long pressing the home screen, tapping widgets and scrolling to 'Battery'. 👍🏻
I never explored that, and with my buds arriving tomorrow this will be quite useful! Thanks

@Aneres11 Please let me know if you manage to solve the o2 visual voicemail message. I had that on my P6 last time round and it drove me nuts.

I guess it’s because I put my o2 iPhone contract sim in the Pixel. A bit of Googling seemed to suggest others had success after calling o2 and getting something changed at their end.

So I cancelled my order direct with Google for a 7 Pro. Disappointed that they offered a delivery of 13-14 October then changed to 14-17, 14-18 and then 17-19 just now. Seems poor to me and they should know more accurately when it is due to be shipped.

Will order from Amazon for a Saturday delivery instead.

Here are my impressions so far. The phone looks premium and I love the Hazel with Gold trim. It is really eye catching and stylish. I can definitely tell the difference between 60 -> 90 -> and 120Hz. Oh my goodness it is SO smooth in 120Hz. The phone is slightly wider and taller than my Pixel 6. Now I know why Google went for the curved screen. It reduces the width on the phone, so it's easier to hold in one hand.

My one disappointment is not with the phone but the screen protectors I purchased on Ebay. I have contacted the seller regarding the problem. They fit perfectly except there is a ring area where the FPS is located. Unfortunately that area hasn't fully messed with the glass so trying to register a fingerprint is difficult. Also the edges where the UI has buttons don't seem to work unless you touch the button at a certain angle or area. That might not be the screen protector but could be the curved screen area itself. That's not a biggie for me.

On my phone the FPS is twice the speed and unlocks almost immediately with 100% accuracy and a tempered glass screen protector installed. Face unlock also works very well and 100% of the time although as others have mentioned I don't know if someone else could unlock the phone with their mug.

As far as battery goes, I started out at 74% and I am down to 69% in 30 mins but I have been setting up the phone and downloading apps and the system update. and it is running in QHD and @ 120Hz. The key will be how much I lose overnight while idling.

So far i'm am very pleased with the quality of this phone and it is very snappy using a term from the Apple crowd.

I am just comparing bare screen of P7P and P6P with White stone glass SP side by side.
The touch feel on glass screen protector is with a bit of drag when compared with naked screen. I am really OCD about tiny scratches too. Still contemplating whether to Glass SP or not to. If you'd really like one, mobilefun starts to take pre-order.

No one can beat their quality on Glass screen protector. I tried about 3 brands prior to it
