I guess I just might be too used to large phones because the Pro Max is about the same size in dimension as my Pixel 4a 5G. I don't find the Pro Max large at all especially since it has a 6.7" screen.

Imagine how wide the 6 Pro or 7 Pro would be without the curved edges?
I think the square edges of the ProMax is what makes it less comfortable to hold in the hand for sure, at least for me... The curve edges on the pixel definitely help but not that glossy slippery soap bar feeling lol

The pro max is not comfortable at all IMO.
But that's where Apple have got it right. Offer two phones at the same spec in different sizes.

Maybe next year for the Pixel!

Totally agree, when I first got my 12 Pro Max, the immediate gripe, was the sharp thick edges, made the phone uncomfortable to hold, and just felt bad. It looks cool, yeah, but the 11 Pro Max was much easier and nicer to hold. And the 6 Pro is so much more comfortable and easy to hold, and the 7 Pro more so.

Digging this Belroy case. Not much in the way of drop protection but adds next to no bulk. It's already starting to get a bit more 'grippy'

Just a heads up for those in the UK, O2 are offering a discount of about £8 a month on air time and Google are offering a free Pixel watch with the Pixel Pro, that makes a cost for both and monthly air time of about £41 (per month). The deals aren't on for long but definitely worth looking into. I am not connected in any way to either O2 or Google.

Battery life for day one. It's 22:07 here and phone is on 4%.

It's not a bad result, but it's not amazing either. I do have AoD on and I have also got the screen set to 120hz and QHD.

Tomorrow I am going to try 1080p and see the difference it makes.

The Pixel Watch came off charge the same time as the phone (8:30am). Have had it on all day. Have hardly interacted with it and it's down to 19%... Which is very poor IMO. Not as bad as my series 3 AW, but that is pretty old now.

Well Google ever give us a Pixel Pro with equivalent battery life like a iPhone Pro Max?

Immediately upon setting up my new Pixel yesterday, I'm so conditioned into going into the settings and changing so many things to be more battery friendly no location on anything whatsoever.

no nearby places on at all

LTE 4G not 5G

No scanning for printers or Wi-Fi or stuff.

It's sad that we have to be so mindful on these various settings to be more battery friendly on our phones.

Not unless they move back to SD. Using a Samsung made chip will not be competitive in that regard.

If we had SD gen 2 price would be likely same price as the Samsung ultra phones

Yeah I was spoiled with the 14 PM I must admit.
But do I want a phone that heavy, thick and big? No, probably not. So it's one or the other.

But surely Google can do a bit more with Tensor to improve things?!

Google should stuff in like a 6,250mAh size battery.

And also use that 1hz to 120hz LTPO type display, which is known to be much more efficient.

When I was at Best buy yesterday picking up my phone I had time to play with the new iPhone 14 Pro Max. And holy cow. That is just such a beautifully designed device. The screen is crazy, bright, and FLAT, plus I like how it seems to really go edge to edge, where for some reason the pixel display doesn't seem to truly go edge to edge if that makes any sense? Like the bottom of the screen where you swipe up there seems to be more usable screen on the iPhone than the Pixel.

But the smoothness of the UI and responsiveness is just fantastic on that 14 Pro Max. Plus the known amazing battery life.

But if it wasn't for that crappy iOS I would get one. But I can't freaking stand iOS. No matter how much I like the hardware, that iOS always stumps me and makes me run back to Google.

Doing ok battery wise here.

Off charge at 6am currently 22:40 with 42% left. Using 1080p with always on display enabled.

Screen time 4hrs 9mins... Busy day at work. Let's see how it goes over the weekend.
By that logic then, QHD is killing me.
Let's see my results tomorrow with 1080p enabled!

I have NO problems with iOS. In fact I own several iPad's and I like what it offers. What keeps me from buying an iPhone is Google's Call Screener. I also like being different, always have and tbh, I don't want to be like everyone else who owns an iPhone. In fact I bet every time one of my Green Bubbles lands on someone's iPhone, an Angel gets its Wings. 😇

I have also decided to wait until the whole eSim thing shakes out because it is SO easy to switch between phones with a physical Sim card.
