Oh my goodness, I am sooooo tempted to get the Pixel Pro, but do I need another phone? I have a iPhone 14 Pro atm but have had plenty of Pixel and Nexus phones to know that I would just love it. I think I have till Monday to make up my mind, the carrier I use has a half price air time deal that runs till then. Goodness me though, I have had it in my bag with just one click away from ordering. Decisions, decisions. I wasn't going to get iP14 Pro but did, I wasn't going to get an AWU, but did. I have the willpower of a gnat.

Returned my pixel 7 pro today.

Good phone, reminded me of a mate 20 pro. Buttery smooth but was getting delayed gmail notifications which is a deal breaker for me

Had the same on a s22 ultra too. I can’t believe android can’t get gmail to work properly, after all this time. It’s a known issue yet they refuse to fix.

Side by side with iPhone, gmail on iPhone works 100% with no issue.

In fact, gmail alert arrives at the same time on my iPad, iPhone, Apple Watch and MacBook and the pixel still yet to alert me.

It’s insane now well gmail app works on iOS.

On the 7 pro had to wait 5 mins before it popped up with an email. Other times had to wake screen up. And yep I did the battery optimisation on gmail app too.

A £949 phone should just work out of the box :/

Also, why do they insist on putting power button and volume rocker on the same side, I definitely been pressing volume a lot more than the power button lol

I can't recall having Gmail issues. I get my mail on time.

And the power button and vol. buttons being on the same side. Ok, it's been that way since the Nexus-One. It would feel odd to have them on separate sides of the phone, it's easier for one hand to press one or the other being close to each other on the same side. "This is the way"

I have never experienced that with GMail. My Email notifications have been almost instantaneous and I say that because I have been on the phone numerous times with businesses who wanted to send me an email and I told them to send it to my phone and within 1-2 seconds it arrived. I wonder if that is some sort of server delay from the carrier with Android phones? Did you get a chance to try Outlook? That also works as well on Android but i'm in the USA so the experience might be different with those in the UK.

I've never had an issue with gmail. It has worked perfectly on literally every Android device I've ever owned. As for the volume and power button on the same side, that just makes the most sense to me considering we have opposable thumbs.

Each one of my Android phones and that includes Samsung, Huawei, Nexus, Pixel have the power and volume buttons on the same side. What makes it really fun is my Honor 9X has the power button on the bottom and the volume buttons above that also on the right side. It's just the opposite with my Pixel phones where the power button is on top. It makes it a lot of fun going from one phone to the other.

Hmm, i have no problem with Gmail but then it isnt my main email either. Its a secondary email but seems to work fine. In fact cant stand all the promotion emails i get on it.

Sounds like you just arent used to it yet. Perhaps a lot more of a Apple guy anyways. Me i dont like my Wifes iPad and she has a Galaxy S9 phone.

I offered to get her an iPhone since she uses her iPad most often and she said No. I was quite surprised at that answer lol.

Nice sunny fall weather here in the Chicago area and I have to say the screen brightness on the 7 Pro is very welcomed and noticeable.

Took a couple of quick photos at the dog park. These are not the best pictures. It's hard to photograph a pup in motion:
