issue with other email clients, they don't split Primary, Promotions and Social like Gmail app does, id be constantly getting emails if they all came into one "inbox" so I'm inclined to stick with Gmail app.

not knocking the Pixel so please do not get offended, just knocking android in general, doze doing its thing

I'm instantly thinking a) the fingerprint sensor is A LOT better than the one I had on the 6 and b) who gives a damn because the face unlock rules. (Yeah I know it can't be used in the dark or for payments)

No one is offended. This isn't the Apple section.
It just doesn't seem like you've tried something else in such a short space of time which makes me think you weren't ever invested in it to begin with.
And that's cool. There's plenty of other options out there. 👍🏻

What's the real verdict on 1080p vs. 1440 resolution on this phone?

Does going to 1080p truly save battery life and give better performance?

Or sticking with 1440 resolution make zero difference?

I've tried both and I seriously cannot tell or see a difference whatsoever, both look identical. Like literally 100% exactly the same to my eyes.

What's the consensus?

I've been on 1080 all day. Not noticed any difference at all.

My impressions from a pair of 64 year old eyes, the fonts are slightly smaller. It's not that big of a difference.

Still on 1080 today. I cannot visibly see a difference so may as well stay on it.

Gave the phone a harder workout today... Off charge at 6am, bit of browsing, social media YouTube etc. 30 mins of google maps in the car and a decent amount of pictures and video recording whilst out with my daughter horse riding. I will say I have a pretty decent 5G connection where I am with good signal strength so that may help.

Currently on 39% battery at 19:35 with screen on time of 6hrs 7mins.

No complaints from me in the battery department.

No one is being offended by your comment. All we were doing was responding to your comment, that here in the US GMail works flawlessly. I have been using GMail on various Android phones that last 10 years or so and I have never had to wait anymore than 1-2 secs before it was in my Inbox. That also includes using various carriers as well in the US.

Well wait. The higher resolution won't do any good of things aren't in that resolution. Am I wrong here for the phones?

For instance, people buy TVs that offer 8K and have a 240 HZ, etc. but the TV providers don't broadcast in that and won't for a while so it's a waste of money.
The 120 Hz mostly works on game consoles for the TVs. If the providers only broadcast in 60HZ, you won't see any difference.

You should be able to see a difference even on the home screen. My Honor 9X is like that. The Home Screen will look sharper when I choose the higher resolution. It's not glaringly obvious but you should still be able to tell between the two resolutions.

Also got delivered a Pixel 7 Pro this morning, was using a 14 Pro, but I have pretty much transferred my stuff over to the P7P. I have absolutely canned the battery on it so far. Not really come across any bugs as yet. Fingerprint seems to work 99.9% of the time compared to the Pixel 6 which I had to send back and also the Face unlock is a nice torch. It could be a keeper, but I will give a few days of proper usage.

My battery has fared better today with the screen set to 1080.

I currently have 30% battery left with 5 hours screen on time. So a marked improvement on yesterday.

The Watch, however, tells a different tale.
I took it off charge later this morning (9:30am) and it's currently on 8%. So doesn't look like it'll last the rest of the day. I haven't even done anything additional with it Vs yesterday.
I like the watch, but there's absolutely no chance I'd be buying one if it weren't free, or even paying anywhere near the asking price. This is a £120 watch and no more IMO.

Little camera test.
Night mode. One is the 14 Pro Max. One is the Pixel 7 Pro.

Which one do you all prefer? I will reveal which is which later. Unless you techies can tell by doing something with the photo haha.

Is that just for the P7P? I don't see in display a way to change it on my P7
