Yeah, my fingers are hovering over the order button again. Seems some say it's a downgrade from the s22 ultra though. That's why I've not ordered it mainly.
I love plenty of things about the S22 Ultra ..it was a solid device ..I traded it in for the Flip 4 which is also excellent and low key seeing good battery life with it . ..Google stuff is just great with stuff we always talk about like screening calls and voice dictation..and the camera is solid ... customize stuff lacking vs Samsung...all good

That is cool how that works. Saw some videos of it and was like sweet.

This is what my fourth day owning the new 7 Pro, and I have to say it's just a very pleasant, enjoyable experience.

My 6 Pro was smooth and nice as well the last couple months. But couple things that stand out now with the7 Pro in comparison;

The screen brightness and just overall better image quality is still very noticeable. On a sunny day I can see my screen better than I ever could on the 6 Pro.

And the softer curved edge display, it does feel almost kind of flat. Where the 6 Pro had an extreme waterfall edge screen that I did not like and could never get comfortable with.

And I'm still rocking the resolution at 1080p and for the life of me I just can't see a visual or image quality difference between 1440p. My battery life seems a good amount better than the 6 Pro now.

Why don't you order the phone from Amazon who has a 30 day return policy with no restocking fee? Best Buy has a 14 day return policy and no restocking fee. Google however will hit you for $35 restocking fee if you return a phone even it it's defective. Try Amazon and BB.
Amazon doing the trade in deal? Thats why I went with Google.

Liking this watch face. Battery seems better today. By no means does that make it good, though 🤪.

I don't know if they still are but they definitely were offering a $200 Amazon GC but you have until Jan 31st to return the phone if you don't like it. I checked and yes they are if the color is in stock.

So I have three phones I would class as using regularly (don’t ask ). My daily driver is a 14PM and I also have an S21 Ultra and now a Pixel 7 Pro.

The 14PM is heavy but feels premium. I’d love Apple to make a lighter Pro Max but that seems unlikely. I’d describe the 14PM as a phone that does everything well, and Apple for me have by the far greatest ecosystem. My Apple Watch, iPads etc. all just work fantastically well together.

The S21 Ultra is one of, if not close to being my favourite device of all time. It would firmly be number one for me if Samsung had a faster shutter speed on their default camera but for me I’ve missed some great shots just because of that camera lag. On the plus side, it’s such a sexy phone and I just find it easier to handle. The screen is so good to watch content on as well.

The 7 Pro, in the short time I’ve had it is such a sweet phone. The camera takes fantastic photos and I don’t find it hard to handle. I’ve got the Hazel colour and it’s a really nice looking phone, and I’ve yet to come across any other device that can convert voice to text as accurately and as fast as the 7 Pro. The 14PM has closed the gap, but still isn’t yet as good as Google’s phone. I’ve now got my work SIM card in my Pixel and I’ll be dual wielding that with the 14PM - the S21 Ultra can be my night time phone (most likely to watch content in bed).

Although I’ve taken a few photos already, I’m off to London tomorrow for work. I’ll have the chance to take some cool photos with the 7 Pro hopefully and will post what I can tomorrow evening.

I also have a 13 Mini but that’s just collecting dust!

I just don't understand anyone having more than one phone. 😂
I have a 14 PM sat there (going back once the bag arrives) and I haven't touched it since I got the 7 Pro and have absolutely no reason to. Why would I need it?!!

Madness. 😜 (to me). To each their own! It just would never work in my set up. I have a company issued work phone (the original SE) and it's terrible but no one calls these days anyway. All Comms is through Teams.

Dictation is definitely number one on Google.. I have seen a little bit of improvement on the iPhone though.. and it's good to see that you don't have to keep hitting the voice icon if you type in between..

I basically never type anything out when not in public on the pixel. Voice to text works so good.
By far what I'm most excited about is that later this year, Google is going to update dictation to indicate separate speakers. That's a pretty game changing feature when in meetings. Naturally it will only be able to say "speaker 1, speaker 2, etc" but thats none the less super helpful.

Returned my pixel 7 pro today.

Good phone, reminded me of a mate 20 pro. Buttery smooth but was getting delayed gmail notifications which is a deal breaker for me

Had the same on a s22 ultra too. I can’t believe android can’t get gmail to work properly, after all this time. It’s a known issue yet they refuse to fix.

Side by side with iPhone, gmail on iPhone works 100% with no issue.

In fact, gmail alert arrives at the same time on my iPad, iPhone, Apple Watch and MacBook and the pixel still yet to alert me.

It’s insane now well gmail app works on iOS.

On the 7 pro had to wait 5 mins before it popped up with an email. Other times had to wake screen up. And yep I did the battery optimisation on gmail app too.

A £949 phone should just work out of the box :/

Also, why do they insist on putting power button and volume rocker on the same side, I definitely been pressing volume a lot more than the power button lol
Try BlackBerry inbox app. I've been using it for years and it works great.
On fact ios doesn't have the push option for Gmail like they do for iCloud. So it's odd that your Gmail's arrive on iPhones faster than android

A funnily enough I had the great pleasure of enduring Hurricane Ian when it made its way through SW Florida. There I sat with 4 phones which btw if GrumpyMom were to read this, she would probably call me a slacker and tell me to Man up and buy moar. 📱

But anyway, I had 6 days with no power and no communication with the outside world other than with my 4 cellphones which I had no way to charge so I barely made it when each phone began turning off. The other problem we faced was that most of the Cellphone Towers in the area were taken offline or damaged by the Hurricane. Once we got power back on, ironically we began to lose internet service.

Is it best to buy the 7 now to get the free buds to keep as a Xmas pressy?

Normally I’d wait until nearer the time, but getting free buds seems good deal and even if sell would be like getting £100 off. I’m in UK.

Being an iOS user, this is for a family member who’s Android, I’m not sure on the deals around these.

Deal runs out today, so need to decide. I’d miss return date if ordering now, and lose a few months warranty. Do you get 2 years for Pixel in UK buying direct from Google?

Also is the case direct from Google good enough? Definitely want a case, and happy to pay for Google one if it’s good. Also need a screen protector but presume it’s just Amazon for that.

Now that it’s been out a few days how is it on general? All phones have problems when released to the masses, but hopefully an be fixed with updates. I did read about the 6 and it’s problematic FPS though, so hopefully fixed in the 7?

Thanks
Well,. ....had mine since the 12th. ...regular Pixel 7.

Only real issue I had was the camera wouldn't open. It would try and then close. So I un-did the update and it worked. Next day I reinstalled the update and it still worked.

Everything else is fine But I hate to keep sounding like a broken record, but the fingerprint sensor is inconsistant. Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't. More don't than do.

I know many here say it works better than the one on the Pixel 6. But I didn't have a 6, i had a 4a and it worked phenomenal on that so I can only compare it to that and compared to that, it is awful.
But no Fret, face unlock is very fast, and works great except when a room is dark.
I also have a pin to use when the fingerprint don't work.

I never even setup the fingerprint scanner, if it's not the rear fps like a couple years ago, then forget it. I just use a pin.

What's the easiest way to switch between the pixel 7 pro and the 14 pro max sim cards when needed these days? Esim makes it a bit more difficult. Att currently but looking to switch to T-Mobile soon.

I saw a YT video by Marques and he commented that it’s pretty easy switching from eSIM Android to an Phone but it’s not as easy to switch from an eSIM iPhone to an Android phone with eSIM.

I switched my AT&T esim from my iPhone to my P7P in about five minutes. They have a good explainer/process on their website that I used and it was pretty painless.

i switched back from the P7 Pro my 14 PM today through Verizon's website. They call it switching or activating a new phone on my existing number. It was esim to esim all they needed was the IMEI number for the 14 PM
I made sure I had internet access from my home wifi then deleted the esim on the P7 Pro and turned it off. Then turned on the 14 PM and added a new esim and it automatically activated through Verizon. Whole process took 10 minutes.

So happy with my Obsidian 7 Pro. Such a nice phone. My only complaint with Android in general is that I wish apps were a bit more polished. I wish apps would get rid of the background behind the home bar. It makes apps look so ugly. I wish all Android apps had the polish of Sync Pro, which is my favorite Android/Reddit app. A proper floating home bar and translucent status bar.
