Got my 7 pro a few days ago using a trade in deal for my s22 ultra. They gave $950 for my 512gb ultra so I basically got the 256gb for $50+tax. Pretty good deal honestly.
So lets get to it. First off, Hazel, sweet Jesus is it sexy. I remember when they showed it off at google IO months ago and I knew right then that I was getting it. I really don't think there's ever been a more perfect/beautiful color combination on a phone in the history of phones. The visor being polished aluminum is definitely going to scratch, being that aluminum is a softer material and the polish just make it more prone to scratching. Even if they used polish stainless steel this would still be an issue to some extent. Luckily I've managed to not get any scratches on the visor yet but the reality is it will definitely happen.
On to the screen, it's always a luck of the draw issue when it comes to OLED screens. My panel is pretty uniform, definitely ones of the better panels I've had on a phone. The straight on uniformity is much better than my iPhone 13 but ever so slightly behind my S22. With that said, the off angle color shift is much less noticeable on this screen than either my iPhone 13 or s22 Ultra. As for the curved edges, I've never had issues with phantom touches even on the ultra, but the lesser curve on the 7 pro definitely makes things more comfortable in a way.
As for using the phone, everyone knows the pixels voice to text is top of the line, but this also happens to be my favorite phone to type on. The haptics are just perfect. If you've seen flossy's review (check it out if you haven't yet), he summed it up perfectly. It's like typing on little air cushions. Once you experience it, you'll get it, all you need to know is it's super comfortable and satisfying.
This is also easily the smoothest android I've ever had. Even with all the power of the Ultra, it would still have some random hitches that weren't really a big deal, but none the less noticeable. Swiping through apps with the bottom "home bar" is so effortless, quick, and smooth. I also like the animations, in particular the screen off animation. The screen turns off in such a way where it looks like the content is getting "sucked into" the power button you pressed to turn it off. Hard to explain but nifty and satisfying.
Naturally, we all know the AI on this phone is simply better than anything else. Text to speech as expected works amazing. Can't wait for the update to come around which the transcribe app will be able to separate speakers. Unblur I haven't really gotten the chance to text much as usually I'd delete blurry photos immediately. I'm sure it won't be perfect but may salvage some things that would otherwise not be salvageable. There's of course magic eraser which works well for simple backgrounds or patterns, however if you don't watch out and give it a more complicated situation then you may end up with a Van Gogh painting.
Lastly there's the battery, as of now I'm getting better battery than I ever did with my s22 ultra. I don't think I can comment fully yet on what it will ultimately be as it usually takes a week or so for the AI to adapt to my usage. Either way, it's getting me through the day so all is good for me on that front.
Well this definitely turned out to be a longer post than I was intending so hopefully it helped some of you guys out.
