I will never, ever, ever be able to understand how people can praise the loss of depth for various UI element, depth which is critical in helping differentiation and recognition of elements that can be interacted with, as well as the washed out gray on white everything which impairs visibility.
Right now, having a bunch of windows opened looks like they are all one single window. (See screenshot below)
Apple seems to have done the same mistake as Microsoft and forgot that this is a computer, not a goddamn smartphone. Computers are visually busy, so differentiation through appropriate design of UI elements is critical for a good workflow.
I hate this new UI because it doesn't WORK as well as the previous one. So it is definitely a step back.

Now, open 5 different windows, some maximized, some almost maximized, some touching the top of the screen and some other not.
Take a screenshot and post it.
Then tell us again how "pretty" it is.

The MOST important area of a window where the outline of the window should show that it's active (the top!), it just blends with all the windows that are behind.
