here is my gear. Not too much. I need to get a smaller bag for short hikes. My pack gets heavy after a while.

40D body
17-40L
B+W 3 stop ND filter
4GB SanDisk Extreme 3 CF
Lexar Firewire reader
Canon EF-d focus screen
3 batteries
Optech strap
LowePro FastPack 350
Giottos blower
various lens cloth and cleaners
Directions for less visited waterfalls in the gorge.
Lens pen (essential to any photographer)
cable release
Manfrotto 055XPROB legs (bought 2 months ago, starting to get battle scars)

Also have a 35-80mm lens from my fiances' Rebel (film) camera. I modded it for macro photography, although the AF motor grinds like a teenager learning to drive a stick.

I am hoping to either add a 5D, 5D2 or 1DS2 by the end of the year and possibly a 24-70 instead of my 17-40L. Don't need an UWA, which the 17-40L is on its' intended body.

Thinking about selling the 10-22 and picking up a 17-40.

I'm very new to photography...well the digital SLR type anyway! Hehe! I've recently bought a whole camera setup (still and video), am really enjoying learning how to use it all, and explore the capabilities of my 24" iMac and Macbook even more. Here's the camera stuff I have:

Canon Eos 1000D camera
Canon 50mm lens
Canon EFS 18-55mm IS lens
Canon EFS 55-250mm IS lens
Canon Speedlte 270EX flash
Canon BG-ES battery grip
Canon LP-E5 spare battery
Lowepro Slingshot 200AW - camera bag
Sony DCR-SX43 Handycam - digital video camera

I only have pics of my video rig:

4567268008_07d4f9f30d.jpg

my other camera equipment:

Canon 5D MK II - x2
16-35L
24-105L
70-200L
35L
50L
85L
580EXII - x2

4x5'65 Tiffen ND9 filters - x2
72/77mm B&W Circular polarizers

couple of pelican 1610 cases and lowepro vertex 300 backpack.

Very soon I'm looking to buy 24-70L, 100L macro and either 1D3 or 1D4.
Still haven't decided either to go all out on 1D4 or grab a good 1D3 copy.

Are you on POTN? I feel like I've drooled over these photos before. :D

oh hey! ya, POTN is my home. lol. but I like macrumors too. Its a hugeeee community of mac folks here. I just dont have time to check it regularly. One forum is enough ^^

Beautiful Redrock DSLR rig...did you get the kit? And from where did you get the camera monitor? I've been thinking of getting one but I'm a little unsure where to look.

One of the reasons I shoot film is highlighted in this quick snapshot: Dynamic range!
4N1A

Olympus OM-2, Zuiko 35mm f/2.8, my late grandfathers camera.
Bronica GS-1, PG 100mm f/3.5, a 6x7cm monster, but lightweight and handholdable. Without grip and prism, of course.

I pulled the trigger on a Noctilux ASPH a few months ago. The first weekend of ownership I dropped it on asphalt, it's been with Leica for nearly 8 weeks now, finally getting her back on Monday.

Nice! I see you also got the abrahamsson softie, quite a night shooter you got there. I got into rangefinders myself just a week or two ago with my M2. I'm loving it so far.

I really want a DSLR with one of those rollers which you see in SLR. I don't know i'm just so fond of the noises they make when you roll the film :(

2 5Ds?

If you don't need one of them.....

:D

(Okay a man can dream)

I do weddings, so I need a back up.

I was tempted by the 7D, and even that would be fine as a back up, it won't serve as a second body. Using the 5D and 7D together just won't work.

If I put the 16-35 on the 7D and 24-70 on the 5D (where it is perfect), then that would pretty much be pointless. With two 5Ds I can put a 24-70 and then the 16-35 on the other and i will have a bigger coverage. Similarly i can put the 135L on the other one and have 2 choice of shots. If i run crop and FF together i will have to constantly remembering the crop factor being in play and may even have to get a 17-55 so i can run the 16-35 + 24-70 stylee combo. And we all know the 17-55 isn't cheap. So another 5D it is.

I wish i could afford the 1Dsmkiii though....

I'm looking for a new "point and shoot camera" as mine is rather old and doesn't take very good photos. I will mainly be using the camera to take pictures of the kiddo and at sporting events. Can anyone recommend a good camera with a good zoom to capture the action on the field?

The Canon S90 is very good, and the G10/G11 are very nice as well. Of course, ultimately the quality of the photos is up to you. These cameras do have a lot of options for control though, something you'll find more and more useful over time.
