It's AT&T 6mb/ 512kb DSL. It's either between this or Time Warner, whom I refuse to do business with. I'm waiting for U-Verse to be available in my part of Charlotte...

Just upgraded to a Motorola SB6120 SURFboard DOCSIS 3.0 eXtreme Broadband Cable Modem. Tried to see if Comcast has upgraded to DOCSIS 3.0 in my area but Comcast isn't saying(at least on their website). Well my speeds have increased and according to Comcast I am getting DOCSIS 3.0 speeds in their Performance service (12Mbps download and 2 Mbps upload). So, happy. BUT can't believe some of these speeds. WOW! I can understand the speeds at university but some of the speeds from regular providers are awesome.

! first time i have EVER seen somebody get higher then the advertised speeds (nearly double too)!! i guess thats why cable is good.. we only have ADSL access over here in australia, u have to be lucky to get cable...

We do have cable in australia.... and fiber... just only in the capitals.

School and home:

School blows home out of the water.....however at home it's always perfectly consistent (DSL) and I control the firewall. :D

oh my lord!! gotta love that!! do u have download restrictions??

Yea the connection is pretty tightly controlled by the IT department, though stuff like iTunes downloads go really, really fast. I've pegged downloads from Apple (iTunes/software updates) at several megabytes/sec before. Songs I've bought on iTunes are usually done before I click the Downloads tab.

impressive! the first minute of a download at university will see it crawl at bytes (yes bytes) per second.. then it will normally hit around 1mbit-10mbit (125KB/s ->1.25MB/s).. its really bad :p

I ordered a new internet connection last week, 40/20. Pictures will be posted when it's all set up. :)

Not very good. Bear in mind, this is from my parents' house. I have a faster connection speed at home, plus I just ordered that 40/20.
