Does anyone have AT&T u-verse?

I currently have Grande Communications cable internet, 8Mbps which I pay about $35 a month for. I also have extended cable through them (which has a limited number of HD channels) and Digital phone (which I just receive telemarketer calls and collection calls for the previous owner on.) and the total bill is about $125.

For $133/month I can get 150 channels all in HD and 18Mbps/1.5Mbps DSL.

go here www.dslreports.com
it might have what you need

Unfortunately this is just with Powerboost™, actual DL is about 6 Mb. They recently notified me that their 50 Mb service is available in my area but it's $99... no fracking way. I've though about upgrading to the "BLAST" speed tier for $7 more/month but they don't advertise anywhere I can find on their site what the ACTUAL speeds are — only the Powerboost speeds.

I have no idea what that sentence actually means.

Got a new netgear wireless router after my linksys crapped out on me, and my speeds back, although it takes a few seconds longer to load, but thats probably due to the wireless settings (WPA2-PSK w/AES)

@sysiphus, out in the boonies and you get that but I only get 10mbps? -.-

bahhh sorry....

what i mean is, I have herd from some people (and around the internet), that when the router and Modem are close(or touching as in my case), they will interfere with each other, thus causing issues. It is then suggested to move the router away from the modem as much as possible to prevent/counteract any interference.

did that make any more since?

no:rolleyes::p

i think that if that were true the companies that make the modems and routers would include more than a 3ft. ethernet cord. Also, since I just had to setup a router today, it actually said in the instructions to "keep away from microwave ovens, large pieces of metal and some computers". Correct me if I am wrong, but arent computers 1) made of metal (case or interior parts, metal of any kind) 2) have metal innards (see 1)? Last time i checked they did. IMO, its something that you take with a grain of salt. Its sounds like a modern "Old Wives Tale", but hey, if you wanna prove it, be my guest.
