OK heart palpitation over. 
Also found .mac shrinkwrapped box, which I just compared to the receipt that shows I paid $99 for it!!! Thats going back.
There are two disc's, Mac OSX install disc 1 and 2. Which one, or doesent it matter?

Disc 1 is what you want. It contains the hardware checking program as well as the OS X for reinstalls. Disc 2 contains the programs such as iWork trials, iPhoto, etc.
Pop in the disc while the computer is on. Then shut it down. Once it's off, push and release the 'power' button (like you normally do to turn it on) and then immediately hold down the 'D' key. You'll be able to sort out the rest. If you get an option for a more thorough test, go ahead and select it. It may take more time (30min or so), but it's worth it.

I ran both the regular and thorough tests.
Looks like it's still pretty hot, its been sitting on the table with the cooler running.... a trip to the mall is in my future.

Well I went to the bar today, and met a rather unfriendly young man who informed me that my screenshots were "worthless" for diagnosing my MBP's temperature issue.
His suggestion? Clearing the hard drive and re-installing the OS. What effect would this have with the heat the processer is generating?
After a lecture about backing up my system, I left the store with absolutely zero satisfaction. They couldn't even tell me what the normal operating temperatures should be, but did inform me that when it got too hot, that it would shut down. GREAT.
Not a happy camper right now.

Yep, my Intel mini is at 131 with just Firefox iChat and iTunes. That's a pretty average tempreture I'd say.

See scr prt attached. NOTE/REQUEST for info: I am new to the MBP and Apple for that matter. Questions, out of curiosity (and practicality also!):
1. Why is it so EASY to measure the temps of just about every nook & crannies of the MBP innards?? Is this for real? Are there REALLY sensors all throughout the inside of the MBP? Especially since, just FOLLOWING bootup, my MBP internal temps are already in the 50-60 deg C ALREADY.. Mmmm...
2. Where/how does a MBP 17" - 1 month old - evacuate its heat via the fans? Through the slit in the bottom back, just below the hinges... OR through part of the speakers grills. Knowing would make a difference as far as HOW to supplement cooling of the MBP / pads, xtra fans, etc...
3 As you can see, I use stock iStat Pro. there seems to be other such gauge packages, showing among other things temps of BOTH CPU cores.
4. Which leads to askin: on my attached graphic, no info about the processor's TWO CORES. How can I get that info.
5. Widgets, widgets... I think pulling up info about the workings of the MBP's innards is just as entertaining (watching fans/ rpm, etc...)

I am running SETI @ Home on my 1.6 Ghz G5 iMac - CPU under full load 100%. The CPU is running 161F/72C - I've noticed that my temps readings (reported by Temperature Monitor) seem to be on the higher side of what people have been reporting. I'm just wondering if I'm risking frying something by trying to help ET Phone Home.
