So right now I'm comparing between the Audio Technica M40x and the Sony MDR-10RBT. In many ways it's close. But the one edge the Sony has is that it's bluetooth. I'd love the AT M-series to come with a wireless option like BT and NFC. Anyone else have experience with these two headphones?

I' ve been using the Sony for a while. I've found them very comfortable. The audio quality is very good (my opinion, I'm not an audiophile) and the battery last really long.

Yeah they are pretty comfortable. And yes the sound quality is pretty good overall. I do kinda think the bass is a bit heavy though but perhaps I can tweak it with an equalizer adjustment. Do you know if the audio cable is replaceable if something were to happen to it or if I just wanted a different or longer one?

I think you can replace it, both sides have an standard 3.5 connector.

Wanting to get my brother a nice pair of headphones for Christmas and I think I've limited my choices down to two:

- Audio-Technica ATH-M50x
- Sennheiser HD 598 SE

What do you guys think? I have the M50x's, but would anyone recommend the Sennheisers over the Audio-Technicas?

Edit: never mind, went with the Sennheisers.

I was just going to reply on the aural superiority of the Sennheisers, but then I read your edit. Good choice.

Near to my RHA t10i :)

I'm not sure if I missed the post on where you got these, but could you let us know again where you got these from?

My most used..
Jaybird Bluebird X (great for on the go)
AT M50x in Blue/Tan (awesomeness)
Just picked up the Beats Studio Wireless... Matte black (eh, still debating if I like them or not) IMG_3638.JPG

I've just received a pair of blu tooth headphones to review and love them but am interested in the Jaybirds. How are they, quality wise? My main in ears are the B&W C5's.

They are plastic but are durable for shoving in your pocket. I never had an issue. The sound quality is fantastic. Good all around sound. They fit comfortably in my ears and don't fall out when I shake my head around.

I had a listen to a pair in the Apple store a few weeks ago. Thought they were excellent, build quality really impressed me.

They are made like fine art. There is so much detail it's amazing. The sound blows me away. Something you rarely think about in headphones is that these are amazingly comfortable. My son, who bought these for me, wears them when he flies. He says he can easily wear them for the duration of an 8 hour flight without ever feeling them. No pinching, no sweating.

Neat extra on them is a switch to mute the sound - just on the headset - in case you need to talk to someone. I love them!

I'm really thinking strongly about picking up a pair in the new year. Their website is excellent as well, it has a UK version with all the different colour options.

Apple Earpods with Dirac app on iPhone (Dirac is tempermental but absolutely brings out the best in Apple ear products)
Bowers and Wilkins P7 over ear (nice sound but slightly dark/muddy in lowest frequencies)
Sennheiser Momentum on ear - for casual walk around. (fun, easy listening)
Sennheiser Momentum 2 over ear - (great mids, bass is respectable but reserved, highs a little forward)
Sennheiser 6xx (more than a decade old and plays brilliantly, not for iphones as it requires much more power)

retired - Sure 400 series in-ear. Like all in-ear, requires right fit but when found, they do very very well.

Here's a few different setups I have (some boxed away now).

WA7 + WA7tp (Both upgraded tubes):
Audeze : LCD2.2 (Rosewood)
Grado PS500

Hifiman HE500
Denon D2000 (modded)
Beyerdynamic T1's

Some Schitt Audio products (Solid State amp and their upgraded DAC)
Grado: PS500

B&W P5's. Got these last week but feeling a little underwhelmed by them; mids are great but can barely hear the highs.

The P7's are worth the extra 100 dollars, though the new PS5 model (using a different driver material, same as P7) should give you a little more than barely highs. One thing you may want to test around with if you have the new P5's (updated drivers) is test where you seat the headphones on your ears. Those pads can make or break the sound, just like the older Beyerdynamic DT1350's did.

Love the look of the AT M50x blue/tan and also the green/dark brown. Sadly they are a bit too big for my head. Even at the smallest setting. Right now I'm going with the Sony MDR-10rbt. Got them for $150 (CAD) on sale for the Cyber Monday sale. Regular $199. The sound is pretty good for me. I'm no audiophile as I can't afford to be. But I do recognize good sound when I hear it.

Holiday gift from my son. MH40 Master and Dynamic. They are gorgeous. The sound is incredible, and comfortable to boot.

Now that is one handsome pair of headphones. I'm going to have to hunt down a pair here in London to try on.

I've been trying these out for the past week or two:

Amazon had them on sale for like £79 so I figured I'd give them a go. Sounded great, but my big ears were practically crushed by these, they were super tight. They're going back this week and the hunt for a pair of headphones continues!

not really dedicated headphones but an HyperX Cloud gaming headset for just under $55 new...
