I would say they are. That's about what I paid when I got them in 2013, though the price has gone down quite a bit on Amazon, at least in the US. They sound far better than any other headphones I've used. Reviewers on Amazon mention that they're not bass-heavy, and I suppose that's true, but I always use a headphone amp (the Fiio E17) and turn up the bass, so it works out alright for me.

Yeah I ordered the Philips SHP9500 open back headphones. Lots of great reviews so I thought I'd give them a try. I've never had open back HPs before so it'll be a first for me.

The headphones I use now are the Sennheiser HD 598s. I've thought about upgrading, but I really like these for classical music and not sure if I want to change to another kind:

I have had the B&W P5s (and also the P7s) for the past few years, and love them. Otherwise, I will admit that the Sennheiser HDs 598 would have strongly tempted me.

Long may you continue to enjoy them.

Hope you get great listening pleasure from them, and do, please let us know how they sound and how you find them, whether they are well built, and comfortable, the quality of sound that has been delivered, and so on.

I've got the 600's. Any idea what's the difference between those and the 598's?

Maybe not the right place as I am not posting a pic but looking for a great pair of wireless, bluetooth headphones for watching TV at night on my AppleTV so I can crank it up and not wake up the house.

Needs:
They will be utilized for content consumption on the Apple TV more than music so very well balanced
Hopefully sub $200
Comfortable for 2-3 hour max sitting session
Amazon prime would be great

You all seem like the experts so any feedback is greatly appreciated!!

A great BT headphone is the Sony MDR-10RBT. Very comfortable and excellent sound quality. http://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDR10RBT...&qid=1455556730&sr=8-1&keywords=sony+mdr10rbt

As far as I know, the HD 600 more or less require an amp, and the HD 598 doesn't, but I use an amp anyway, so it makes little difference to me. This review mentions some of the differences here (there are pros and cons to both--even though the HD 600 costs more, it doesn't seem to be a clear cut that it's "better", it really just depends on what you want): http://www.headfonia.com/hd600-and-hd598-comparison/

I'm really thinking strongly about picking up a pair in the new year. Their website is excellent as well, it has a UK version with all the different colour options.
No kidding, their website should be used as a case study of what a website should look like.

Thanks, it's made with my Apple 6, nothing special (but I'm a photographer :D )

Anyway yes, they are really comfortable (I think the comfort is the best quality of this IEM), they came with a lot of ear tips, the cable behind the ear can be moulded to your ear shape, three filters for tune the sound, etc... they are only a bit weighty but is due to the high quality of materials and build!

How do you like these?

Here's a few different setups I have (some boxed away now).

WA7 + WA7tp (Both upgraded tubes):
Audeze : LCD2.2 (Rosewood)
Grado PS500

Hifiman HE500
Denon D2000 (modded)
Beyerdynamic T1's

Some Schitt Audio products (Solid State amp and their upgraded DAC)
Grado: PS500

I know this is a bit late to the game here, but how do you like those Grado? I've been incredibly tempted lately to pick up a pair of SR60E's and then do a quarter and driver vent mod... I have access to a wood lathe, so I may turn down a pair of custom woodies as well. I'm coming from AKG K240 MKII, which have awesome clarity and soundstage, so just wondering how the Grado would stack up. The sound spilling out is no problem for me; I use open or semi-open cans already.

Thanks!

Well I ended up returning the Philips SHP9500. They were way too big for my head. Even at the smallest adjustment setting lose on my head and the earcups were massive. Had they fit properly I could tell they would have sounded really great. Guess for now I'm sticking with my Sony's.

That's a shame. Sorry to hear they didn't work for you. They certainly are big and loose, but that does help them to be some of the most comfortable headphones I've ever used. The sound is just awesome, if you're someone who appreciates mids and treble more than bass like I do. Hard to believe these things have been going for around $60 bucks. Easily as good as some $200 cans.

Pendalumic Tach T1. Sound great. I'm happy with them. Neutral sound, a little more bass than the Stance S1+

Yeah true. Maybe I'll try the Sennheiser 558 or 598.

What're your budget and musical preferences like? If you're looking for something like the SHP9500, the AD900X would be my recommendation. Found them a lot better than the 598.

Those AD900X look like they'd be quite big. I returned the SHP9500 for that reason. Even the Sennheiser 598 and 558 look big as well. The Sony MDR-10rbt I have seem to fit perfectly but even they are at the smallest size setting.

I got a new friend for my LCD-X today :D

So far they're pretty damn impressive. Their purpose was to replace my aging Sennheiser HD25-1 II's and it seems they fit the bill perfectly!
