Just by looking at reviews, i think i may go for the Audio Technica ATH-M50. The reviews are outstanding, does anyone have any experience with these headphones?
I have these, k701s, and Senn hd580s. My favs are the k701s, but I use them with a Heed Canamp and I am not sure how they will sound with the amp you mentioned. I don't like them as much with some of the other amps I own.

The ATH M50s sound good even without an amp and blocks out a lot of external sound, so they get a lot of use. The aren't as accurate or as open sounding as the k701s, but I still like them a lot.

My last choice of the group would be the Senns, but I like the ear pads a bit better than the pleather on the m50s, so they are more comfortable for long periods.

AKG also makes the Ad700 which have a huge soundstage but the bass suffers because of it. They are huge, but are very comfortable. They have a similar sound to the k701s (although they are not as accurate), but are a lot less expensive. They aren't as power hungry as the k701s, so they are a bit more flexible if you are on a budget. I use mine with a Little Dot MKIII amp that gives the bass a bit more presence.

Personally, if I needed a good all arounder on a budget, I would get the M50s.

Thanks for your help, i think i am going to go with the Audio Technica headphones. the reviews are just astounding and it appears as if you are happy with yours as well. Do you think it would be worth getting a small amp to pair them with such as the FiiO E5? Apparently that amp just tightens them slightly and the Amp is only like another $25.

Yes, the amp should help. I am pretty sure you will be very happy with the setup.

Lost one of the endcaps to my pre-A8 (don't remember what they were called) B&O ones. They lasted 5 years, pretty good for a set bought out of a Best Buy vending machine at MSP international.

Well my RHA MA-350s came today and im impressed. Great sound and for £30 i dont think I've heard anything this good before. And they havent even burned in yet

Hifiman introduced their HE-400!

I'm strongly thinking about getting one once I sell off my DT990. I've always wanted to know what the famous planar dynamic speed and bass extension is like.
