Did anyone do a clean install? What does the default home screen look like?
Anybody have a screenshot of the new iOS 14 stock/default homescreen layout, or is that irrelevant now? I have a weird OCD thing where I don't edit the homescreen from the default layout, and my customization starts on page 2, but I guess that is out the window now.

I'd also like to know what the default layout is (also for OCD reasons!!).

Simple yet satisfying. I had a Reminders widget but I don't like the fact that you can't check something off from the widget and are required to open the app. Hopefully this will change at some point.

Off topic, it's insane how many people around here have OCD.

The home screen is literally the first thing you get to see when you unlock your phone. One could have a use to put the widgets they need the most there and leave the "secondary" widgets on the widget panel, where they were before.
When I unlock my phone, it's because I want to use an App. If I quickly want to see something on a widget, I just swipe to right. No need to go to the home screen. Benefits: The same amount of swiping (or even less) when accessing widgets. Less swiping and searching when accessing an App.

Wish I could remove the watch and activity app from the home screen. The only two apps that are for some random reason required on the home screen if a watch is paired.

You should be able to remove them and have them only in the App Library. That’s what I have on my iPhone now.

Is there a way to add/edit 3rd party widgets in the old widgets screen? Mine are displayed, but I can’t seem to modify them anymore (nor add others.) The only ones I can change are the Apple ones.

(I know that only the Apple ones can go on the home screen. I'm referring to the screen to the left of the home screen.)

This is what I’ve settled on for now. Previously I just kept the first page mostly as it came out of the box and had apps sorted alphabetically thereafter. Big change for me to go from that to having everything except my most important apps in the App Library.

As a workaround you can move them to a separate page and then hide the entire page
You can also manually drag them into the App Library. I’ve reported it as a bug, seems like they forgot to update the check to see if an Apple Watch is paired to occur only when the apps are actually being deleted instead of just hidden in the App Library.

Interesting thankyou. In forecast mode it cuts off the numbers at the bottom when it’s in that size so I guess I’ll keep it small until they fix that.

I believe that's a dark sky specific for the US, just in case you're not in the US

It’s funny my home screen looks like 2011 when I was using my android HTC incredible 2. I like the new home screen widgets, I also could be without them as well.

Here’s mine for now, the widget on the first page is a stack, with Calendar, Reminders and Notes, I’m waiting for the new Clock widget that was shown to put next to it in place of the Clock, Notes, News and Reminders icons.
The Clock widget will be stacked with the News widget.

Still changing mine. Love it so much more than I thought I would already. My personal and work is vastly different. Not showing my work one. On my personal (shown) the top widget is a Siri smart stack. It works really well. It was showing the map widget showing how long it would take to get to work as I sometimes leave in 30 min to go.

How did you get the dark Tweetbot icon?

I hope developers make more widgets for the home screen, so that I could have just a page with work related widgets/apps including email
