Just use an HDMI switch.

I'm with the others here - the more the better. An HDMI switch is yet another box under the TV, yet another remote control and yet another thing needing power.

I have an Onkyo receiver with 5 HDMI ports, and the only empty one is on the front (designed for things only plugged in now and then), the rear contains PS3, BD deck, AppleTV & PVR. I couldn't add a HTPC if I wanted one, nor a second console (Xbox 360).

Yamaha AVENTAGE RX-A2000 7.2 Receiver. I'm pumped to have 8 HDMI inputs now with stand-by passthrough. Going to make my life a lot easier than my old RX-V1600.

How much did this receiver cost? Had to cost a pretty penny. I just got my new tv, and now I'm looking and a receiver and speakers to complete everything, but don't want to go to crazy in spending.

Amazon has it for $1,289.00.

Actually, everything you just said about HDMI switches is inaccurate. Obviously it's preferable to have enough HDMI ports on your receiver, but a switch is a great remedy if you don't. They're cheap, super tiny, and they do not require a remote or power source. :)

i'm just trying to think of what components you have added

i find that 5 is enough for me

xbox 360
ps3
DVR
audio receiver
Media streamer - boxee box

i'm just trying to think what else can be added that you would need that much
