Well we just moved and on the way here, some low life stole our Uhaul trailer. Just got our insurance claim complete and decided it was time to upgrade my MacBook. This is what I bought, 2017 MacBook Pro 256GB SSD!

The trailer had my wife's MacBook she used as an alternate to her iMac, so I am giving her my old 2011 MacBook and I will use this new one for work/college homework. I have a few other things we recently purchased due to the move and will post later.

Maybe it’s the military in me but I when traveling am never more then arms length away from my MacBook. Now just think KARMA!
Maybe the trailer will drop on their foot.

Rearranged my desk to accommodate my Play:5, but has the consequence of putting my MBP out of reach (it's on a stand hooked up to an external monitor). I keep finding myself reaching for the trackpad to go into Mission Control, define words, go into Exposé, etc.

Managed to find one of these relatively cheap on eBay, hopefully it solves it. Reluctant to completely replace my mouse however, so instead I'll just feel like a tech glutton with both on my desk...

A speed de-restriction dongle for my Cube electric pushbike.

The bikes motor is restricted from giving assistance to pedalling at speeds above 15mph, with the motor turning off. This can be frustrating as I often want to cruise along at 17-20mph. This device will allow the motor to remain on at speeds up to 30mph....

I have a pedal assisted bike as well (Cannondale Kinneto). Owned for about a year and already have about 1500 miles on it. 2 questions for you: first off, how many parts have you had to replace on the bike? I have worn through quite a number of things and am on my second or third replacement in some cases. Secondly, how is going up to 30mph? My motor limits to 20mph but would love to go faster.

Ive had my 2018 Cube Reaction Race since October 2017 and not had to replace any parts yet. I doubt I will be able to pedal to 30mph unless I get a larger front sprocket. I de-restricted my bike just so I didn't experience the harder pedalling when the motor cut off at 15mph, so now I can ride with assistance as fast as my legs will take me, but not as fast as 30mph.

Enjoy.

My selection is the AK 'ultima' SP1000. If you can find a picture of that, do, please share it.

While it is paid for - and has arrived at the place where I ordered it - as it is the week-end - they will deliver it to me early next week. I admit that this is my treat to myself - and I am looking forward to taking delivery of it.

£3k? Why not get two! I'm sure I'd not be able to justify the improvement at that price. I'll be interested to hear what you make of it.

Well, this all came about on account of my fear that Apple would discontinue iPods; for my music, I only want a seriously good music player, not distractions and complications, bells and whistles and unnecessary extras. I'm one of those who adored the old iPod classic.

Setting up my most recent iPod Touch last October was an absolute nightmare - this used to be seamless.

Anyway, when I returned from an earlier prolonged period working abroad, a few years ago, I set about carrying out some investigations into this whole area - what good quality music players - devices dedicated solely to music - existed should I wish to - or be compelled to - exit the Apple world of iPods - rumours suggested that Apple would kill the iPod classic (they did) and this was before setting up iPods had become such a complete pain. (I repeat: This used to be seamless and a pleasure rather than the pure torture it has become).

Thus, very kindly, a chap in a store where I bought B&W headphones and speakers gave me one of the older A&K models - his own - to take home and play with for a week or so to see what I thought of it when playing the kind of music I might care to listen to myself.

Needless to say, I was smitten and promised myself that when funds permitted, I would treat myself to one of these devices.

In truth, I was about to buy one of their older models only to learn - when I phoned this week, upon my return home - that they have been discontinued. I'm not about to buy this sort of thing second hand. And, anyway, this particular model (I spent ages reading about it while abroad) received very positive reviews.

I have to admit that price is eye watering. I wish I had the ears to hear the difference and the bank account to afford that. :)

What will you be using as headphones?

My Bowers & Wilkins P5s - they have travelled the world with me; I also have the P7s, but they don't usually travel abroad with me. And I am debating purchasing the P9s.

Well I hope they live up to expectations.

Then there's just the matter of that M10

Thank you.

Actually, believe it or not, the M10 has been on my mind. Perhaps later in the year.

But music is more pressing; however, I have seen some images - things - sights - that begged to be photographed, as recently as last Sunday in downtown Nairobi.

I'm sure you have. Well you could take your film camera on your next visit.
