Sold my iMac today, and since I am going on a cruise this weekend, not getting a replacement for awhile... So in the mean time, I downgraded to this:
100_2082.jpg

The NES's power light is on, not sure why the cam didn't pick it up. There is an atom board (single core (yuck)) in it running 10.6.2 :D

For a moment i though it was a normal NES connected to the LCD and was going to ask how did you connect it to it. But it's even nicer that it is converted to a computer. Any guides on doing that? The buttons for power and reset work normally as they would do on a computer? well done mate:)

As a Nabokovian, I have to ask: what's the black volume with NABOKOV on the side on the bookshelf in the first picture? I'm guessing at a US edition of the Boyd or Field biography, but I'm worried that it could a critical work or collection I'm unaware of (and I would have to get!).

Nice, clean setup by the way. It'd take me so long to tidy up before taking a photo that I fear I'll never enter a picture in one of these threads ;)

I'll guess, netbook with a broken screen?

Thanks! :)

It's a copy of Nabokov's "Ada", 1969 first edition. My eyes went all moony once I saw it at the bookstore. :D

Ah, thank you - the much-maligned, wonderful 'Ada', indeed. I can relax now. But what would the great man say about your Ayn Rands? ;)

Where did you get that Flipclock? I've been looking for one for years!

It was an ebay find! It's a great place to search for these sorta things.

Look out for flip clocks made by Ricoh, Copal, Sankyo, or Caslon. Those are mostly from the 60s and 70s, the good stuff made in Japan. If you want to go American, check out the boxy ones from GE and Seth Thomas.

If you have $$$ ;) try to get your hands on one of the originals, the Solari Cifra 3. Those are a good 2-3 hundred buckos, I think, but they are hard to find.

Not many companies make new ones these days if you're looking for that. I think Twemco is the only reputable one. They have models that are inspired by the Cifra. Hope this helps

I'm not sure what ol' Nabbie would say other than that they're dreadful paperbacks, but I know what I'd say. "Ma'am, your books are too long."

New member to the Mac family. After getting an iPad for Christmas I decided to get it a big brother. Set the iMac up on Wednesday and have been in love with it ever since. My PC is going through withdrawal, but that will change when I want to do some gaming.

Company-issued laptop on the left, gaming PC in the middle, Alienware m11x below that, iPad, and the new iMac on the right.

There is so much more there to list, so if you see something you want to know more about, just ask. :)

No write up sorry. Yeah the buttons both work, power turns it on and puts it to sleep, and well reset, resets it lol.

Oh, even the control ports in the front work. NES - USB adaptors, plugged directly into the motherboard. :D

There plenty of guides on instructables.com though. I just didn't do a write up... didn't follow one either.

Close, its an Intel Mini ITX board. 2gb ram, single core slow processor. Ill get the exact model when I get home tonight. Can't think of it right now. HD is a SSD too.

@vincenz:

Gorgeous set up. That room looks very comfortable, and I like your book collection, despite your remarks about Ayn Rand. ;)

She was born in a communist nation, and clearly never got over it. But her idealism often dubbed as objectivism, combined with the glimpses she provides about her sexual fantasies, make for some curious, albeit long novels.

The supporting characters were a hoot. Mr.Toohey! :p The Fountainhead is my favorite of her novels.

Well, does it work really with EVERY case?
I got this one http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/reveal-etch-iphone4

I ask you because

25 of 29 people found the following review helpful:

I bought this for my iPhone 3G and it worked great - even with various cases. However, it does NOT work with iPhone 4 with an Apple Bumper - nor with the other 3rd party cases I've tried.

Finally got my dual monitor set up ready. Even though the second monitor is an old rusty PC monitor, it suits my needs. Just need to organize the rest of my desk. I will have it up soon!

I realize this is a Mac setup thread, but I have a friend who's looking at the same m11x you've got. Just wondering what you think of it, especially value (he can get one for $550).

I really like it. There are some build quality issues with the hinges - which I haven't experienced - but other than that it is perfect. It plays all the current games at high settings with no problem. For an ultra-portable laptop the gaming can't be beat.

well i definitely have not tried EVERY case with it haha. Pretty sure the iCrado was designed for the 3GS, they might have a newer model for the iPhone 4. I usually use slim cases, so I've had no problems. Better chance getting it to work on here than the apple dock! :p

@ GeorgeN111 Yes, its a 15inch. i updated original of it. Im debating when my next Laptop purchase to go to the 13 though.. hmm

Sorry about the mobile amazon link guys! haha. I did it quickly on my iPhone at work

What desk is that? I am looking for a black desk for when I purchase my 27 inch iMac in the next few weeks and I like how that looks.

The page did have a distinct layout that I've only ever seen appear on the iPhone. I'm actually kinda surprised at the number of sites that I've gone to and discovered the page layout just for the mobile version of Safari. I love Safari on the iPhone, but I can't stand it on the computer...
