Also is this the desk chair you have there, would you recommend it? http://www.amazon.co.uk/LUXURY-OFFICE-CHAIR-DOUBLE-CUSHION/dp/B003UTS5JG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1339625291&sr=8-3

How do I open a G5 dvd drive without an apple keyboard?

Your setups clean :)

This works for OS X Snow Leopard 10.6 and earlier, I don't know if it's available in OS X Lion 10.7 or not.

Go to System > Library > CoreServices > Menu Extras

and find the Eject.menu item, double click it, you'll now have an eject icon in the Menu bar that you can use to open/close the optical drive.

Is that a Mac Pro or a G5?

That is a late 2005 dual core 2.0ghz G5. I actually have 3 other G5 cases with PCs inside for server duty. They just look so timeless and industrial specially when you have more than one. I reformatted the G5 thats why it was on my desk but usually it creates a 4 high stack with the other G5's. What G5 did you get? You can open the drive by putting the eject icon on the status bar on the top right or using a key combo but you will have to look up to do that as I have forgotten.

pjmoutinho the iPad stand is a Mophie Powerstand. It is built like a tank and is very stable.

Well I have to sorta agree & disagree. I have quite a lot of vintage objects scatered around my room see my flickr set: http://www.flickr.com/photos/macmad/sets/72157604831768243/ all of them work perfectly fine, but from past experience ( I love old audio equipment) older speakers are not the best sound to be honest (in this area at least) speaker technology has come along way since 1978. In terms of smaller size and power output especially. The Panasonic's are about 3 quarter the diameter of the originals have and have double the wattage if I remember :)

Another prized possession has to be my 1969 Sony Flip clock 43 years old and still keeping excellent time to this day, radio works better than my modern sony digital too lol.

Wow, you have one of those? You also have an old Bush radio. My dad used to have one of those awhile ago. Kinda wish I had it now.. :(

Still very awesome room. Love the vintage look a lot. :)

Some of these have been posted before, but here goes:

I started with a Powermac G5 1.6 with a 20" ACD. I used that machine for 5 years.
4686102833_6ece8f729b_b.jpg

I upgraded to an early 2009 Mac Mini. Along the way, I acquired another of the 20" ACDs.
4294426672_5135f3473d_z.jpg

After awhile, I got tired of having two bulky ACDs on my desk. I decided to buy one monitor and replace both. I wound up getting a refurb 24" LED Cinema Display for the mini.

Once Lion came out, I found that the early 2009 Mini wasn't cutting it any more. I finally upgraded to a 2011 Mac Mini a few months ago. So far I'm really liking the speed. I'm really bummed that it doesn't have an optical drive, though.

That's it for now :)

I actually said "wow" out loud when I saw your setup. The glass desk, combined with that solid red wall is striking. But what's up with the floor?

Hold the F12 key for a couple seconds.

Haha it's actually a garage and there was a fridge there before so carpet was never laid under it but now I'm turning it into an office hence the new paint and equipment. The carpet will come soon!

My most used current setup.. Love the breezy California nights.

I might have a 2011 mini inside and upstairs, but there is something to be said in enjoying the great outdoors with a bit of tech. ;) Sorry for the crappy shots, they where taken with my 3gs. Still waiting on my D50 I scored on eBay.

Hi all,

I've showed mine many many times in the past but I figured since my MacBook Pro 15" had it's logic board replaced today (under Apple Care <-- second time!) , why not again?

What you see:

- MacBook Pro 2.2Ghz Quad i7 Crucial M4 256GB 16GB late 2011 Anti-glare high res
- Thunderbolt Display
- Time Capsule
- Hercules XPS101 speakerset
- Black MacBook (which is hiding underneath the screen). In perfect condition, nothing on it. It has white keys and a white bezel around the screen. Looks awesome in real life.

Forgot: 'new' iPad 32GB + 4G black.

Taken with iPhone 4S.

I'm sad with this dead pixels ): But in Brazil is so expensive to repair, so...i've a choice: use it or buy a new iMac.

I figured I give my 6 yr old BlackBook a little photoshoot since the previous photos don't do justice. An 15" High Res AG MBP Late 2011 speaks for itself. But this doesn't.

See her in her daylight glory (taken with 4S)

She is my back-up machine (for a few years already). Completely no outer damage. Nothing.
The Vertex 3 128GB SSD did her good though.

*You can see an iMac in the reflection on the first picture. That's because there is a 20" iMac in the kitchen*

I really like the black body and white keyboard and screen. I assume that you did that yourself?

Could you share the details of how you did it? Thx!

There are lots of guides to be honest. I work with MacBooks many times (Apple Premium Reseller employee as a part time student job) so it's real easy for me.

But with an iFixit guide, you'll know how to replace the bezel around the screen. The keys are just a matter of being delicate.

Some people have.

As requested. My MBPr (Mac Book Pro Retina) seating in my Home Office. It normally won't be in there though.

It normally is either with me on the couch or at work connected to my Dell 24" Monitor.

Am I true that I get the honor of being the first to post a photo of his MBPr?!

Much respect for still using PPC products today. They're not exactly getting much love from Apple or even third parties for that matter, yet somehow you're still capable of using them as day-to-day machines. Suddenly I feel guilty for finally trading in my 2006 MBP for a rMBP.

How's the glare? I saw one in-store, and it looked better than a regular MBP, but still not brilliant if I'm honest. How is it in real-world situations? Taken it outside yet?

Either way, can't wait to get mine. But I have to wait for the in-store pickup option to become available for non-obvious reasons. So probably a month or so
