i sold my 2011 mac mini & ps3 to get a gaming pc, which i then hackintosh. for the occasional video editing that i do (just youtube videos), the quad core i7 ivy bridge and gtx 680 is a better experience than my sole remaining "real" mac which is the 2010 mbp you see hibernating below my desk on top of a canon pixma printer/scanner.

What monitor do you have?

The 12" powerbook is one of the best notebooks Apple ever made! Because it was way ahead of its time, in terms of portability and design. Such a pretty computer!! Part of me misses the "power PC days". When "the cloud" was something in the sky. lol

Many of us still live in the PowerPC days! For what I use it for (web surfing, email, classic OS apps & word processing) it's absolutely perfect. Has the best keyboard I've ever used & I see the MacBook Air as sort of a spiritual successor to the 12" G4 line.

Long time since I last posted in this thread. Not that much has changed though.
I've added a MBA 13" for my University studies, and I've also upgraded from my old iPhone 4S to the Galaxy S4. As of now, this setup offers everything I need! The iMac + MBA truly is a great combo!

I bet that's a great combo. I've done Mac mini + iPad 2 for years, but recently replaced the iPad with an 11" MBA. Probably will be adding an iPad mini to the mix in the fall, and will definitely replace my 4S with a 5S within the next month.

I have a macbook air for work, its a very nice machine. But I also have 2 13" retina macbook pro where I work, and the screen is so incredible, plus the HDMI out. Personally I think the RMBP is the cutting edge computer of today!

Thanks, and for your hack, any issues with the updates or anything?

nope. i updated to 10.8.4 from 10.8.3 no problem.

i did have to reinstall the audio driver but that was about it. for some reason, updating OS breaks the audio. but, it's an easy fix.

A rather quick update.

Added a Dell S2240M (a simple 21" IPS monitor)

Sorry for bad quality. All I have is my iPhone.

great tree

thanks, I have my wife to thank for keeping my office nice and green

also, definitely invest in a dual monitor stand for your setup, I'm using an Ergotron LX for a single monitor and it freed up so much useful space on my desk, not to mention the books the monitor was sitting on. Well worth the money.

Just wondering, did everything install without having to change much using multibeast?

yep. i just ran multibeast after the OS update and checked the appropriate audio driver and then restarted and then audio was back.

Just moved into a new flat. First things first:

Waiting for my new monitor arms and 3rd and 4th monitor. Current monitors are Asus PB278Qs.

Great setup. Just noticed your power outlet. They look interesting haha. They plugs appear to be on a diagonal?

I've got one of those stupid desks that has cupboards & drawers just about everywhere so there's no where for it to go. Funnily enough I just ordered a new desk today that should give me a lot more surface space to work with.

Congrats on the new desk. I will be replacing my desk soon as well. I am thinking of making it somewhat DIY/Custom. (Still IKEA parts mostly though :p) Have you thought of mounting your computer like this:

Then you would have a cleaner look (IMO) then it on the ground. Nice setup btw.

Here is my newer setup, I've added a new monitor and some custom made (by me) accessories. I have a couple different set ups, see if you can spot the things I made.

That's a nice idea. Have never come across one of those before. However I like having the computer on the desk for three reasons;

1. It's drop-dead gorgeous
2. Easy access to ports/optical drives etc.
3. It's drop-dead gorgeous

My new desk arrived today & am currently typing this in the midst of about ten thousand nuts & bolts - so I'll post a pic when everything's all assembled & organised.
