Changed my desk setup a little bit by connecting my XBOX to my display instead of my TV.

Wish i could do that with my iMac :(

I had an iMac before this as well, and I totally prefer this setup*. Sure, only having to need a single cable is extremely sleek but being able to have a nice and large display at home and a portable computer on the go with only one device is just great. You just unplug the laptop and bam, you're good to go.

*ofcourse, I'd prefer an iMac and a MacBook (Air, perhaps) but at the moment, I don't feel like it'd be worth the money. I'm just a poor college student after all, haha :D

Hey guys!

This is my room ( I share a house with an old school friend near my university ):

I'm currently studying computer science, so i got a larger monitor ( Dell U2713HM ) which is just perfect for this! The space is amazing and I'm honestly thinking to buy a second one, maybe alongside a VESA wall mount for both of them.

I've got two whiteboards in my room ( the second is not shown, because there's no Mac and thus no Mac Setup :p ), one directly above my desk and the other one on the opposite wall at the same height.

The desk itself is just a kitchen countertop with a length of about 3.70m ( which is really great for team work or playing video games ;) )

The cable management had thus to be made manually, I just used some hooks from a building supplies store.

There you can see a small shelf which holds my periphery. There's a network switch, my Time Machine hard drive and my Belkin Thunderbolt Express dock, which hooks the backup hard drive, the monitor, my USB 3.0 hub ( additionally to the one my monitor offers ... ). It was relatively expensive, but I think was worth it ! It's so much more comfortable to just plug the power cable and ONE Thunderbolt cable in my machine.

My complete Setup:

  • MacBook Pro Early 2011 2.2 GHz, 8GBs of RAM ( i replaced the original 4GBs ), Samsung SSD 830 256GB, WD Black 750GB in an optibay
  • Thunderbolt Express Dock
  • Dell U2713HM
  • TP-link switch
  • 1TB external USB 3.0 hard drive for Time Machine ( Manufacturer: Samsung )

I know, it's nothing special compared to some setups I've seen throughout this threads, but I just wanted to show you my space after seeing so much of yours!

( And sorry for any mistakes, I'm not a native speaker of the English language ^^ )
