Somewhere Back In The Long Ago
The new setup is now complete. The black cover is over my Novation MIDI KB. My fiancee made it from scratch as we couldn't find anything suitable. It's there to take the impact of our cat's, particularly our male Bengal Jax who weighs in at 5.8 Kilos..

My current set up. Playstation tucked away under the desk. On the hunt for a decent speaker set up.

Decided to purchase a new desk from ikea, PC World was next door so picked up some BOSE companion speakers :D

Sorry for poor pics, only got the iPhone 5 to use lol

I wonder how those Bose speakers compare to soundsticks, or even z623s. I'm thinking of getting something simpler than my old klipsch gmx 5.1s, as they take up a lot of space and have lots of wires. That, and the control pod on them is worn out and never was that great to begin with.

Unfortunately the z623s seem about on par with klipsch now - lots of complaints about defective volume knobs and stuff, which I had a problem with on my bedroom logitechs before.

I still love the soundsticks look but for $180 with tax it's a big pill to swallow. Studio monitors are pretty much out of the question sadly, the only thing I'd be able to buy are M-Audio Av40s and they look kinda.. yeah..

I see that you have the audioengine 5 and 2's. I've been looking to get them, what do you think of them? I want the 5+ but they might be too large for my desk - do the 2's seem sufficient in comparison? or is there a huge difference in sound

I tried this myself last night but it didn't feel very secure, the mini isn't quite as wide as the Wii stand so it wobbled a bit. Did you do anything extra to secure it?

Draught-proofing tape on one side and a U-shaped piece of polyethilene foam on the other:

I'm going to hack an old Ikea CD tray. Once painted in black it will go well with the monitor and loudspeakers.

i had the A2s for a few months and just loved them... clean, sharp highs with a small footprint, it is hard not to love em... that said, i definitely felt at times that there was that extra umf missing so i went for the A5+ 's as well

if u have a small office or den and don't really have a lot of desk real estate, the A2's are perfect... that said, if u have a larger, more open office space like mine and have a larger table, definitely go with the A5+'s because for a little extra money, the power is just so nice to have... they just fill the room effortlessly

custom desk

I got a new custom desk. Design by myself & built by a professional carpenter I know. I'm very happy with it - finally so much space. :)
