I want to thank everyone for the positive feedback for my desk. I really appreciate it! :)

Here are some more shots:

1. I already have a good use for all that new space.

2. For cable management I have this area underneath the desk where I can just stuff everything in. Out of sight out of mind. :)

Looks great!

Okay, I know this belongs in the PC thread.. but there's a reason I'm posting it here. As you can see, I'm feet first into Windows and Windows 8 (and phone). But I acknowledge that my PC brethren rarely have a clue about aesthetics, and that's where you my Mac cousins have been an inspiration. So this post is a "thank you" for Mac lovers having an eye for good looking things and inspiring me to build something I like to look at. I might not like the stuff you buy, but I like what it looks like ;)

Here's a poor Windows guy, showing his new rig off. All new hand-made table top to boot.

Nice setup. No one said you have to have a mac to have a nice setup.

Thanks! I built it… well, most of it. The legs are Ikea Ullriks, and the backing board is an IKEA table top (Linnmon?). The wooden top though, is timber I bought, biscuited, glued, chamfered, and sealed with a Danish Oil/Polyurethane mix. Then I just bracketed it all together, and chucked some IKEA dioders at the back for lighting. You can’t see any cables on this build, that’s also a big plus :)

Nice setup. No one said you have to have a mac to have a nice setup.

That’s true. But compare this thread, to say, any of the “post your desktop/workstation” build threads on various PC forums… e.g. compare both the post your mac thread to the post your workstation thread on Hardforum… the Mac threads have better looking builds, every time! PC dudes in general like messy desks, haha, and I wanted to escape that!

Here's my setup. I love the move of the desk into this corner. I'm currently figuring out my speakers and their placement, for now they are all on my desk and not being used.

I have the same speaker system. Do you get full surround sound from your mac?

Texas, unfortunately.
Recently was forced to move back in with my parents, but since I'm hoping its only for a short time, I've just got my little "computing corner" set up in my old room. :p

I had to move back home for a short while years ago but they had me paying food and rent. eventually I was paying so much it was like why am i paying to live here when I can pay for my own place. hmm they probably planned that. anyway enjoy the home cooking while it lasts.
