My Office!

Macbook,C2D just upgraded with a 320gb hard drive and 2gb or ram. Samsung 21.6 external monitor, Apple wireless keyboard and mouse. G-Tech 500gb "Time Machine" and Vizio 42 inch in the background for iTunes and Xbox 360. My wife calls my office the "man cave".

Matt...

Got tired of not having a corner piece to my desks, so here's version 3. I can tell already I'm going to have to buy a lot of Windex. Any ideas on cable management for a glass desk with not much in the way of legs?

you can get some cable loom... like this:

wireloom-image.jpg

obviously not in purple... but you get the idea. you can then zip-tie the loom to the legs.

Both of these are very nice set ups.

What kind of volume knob is that? I'm assuming that's what the round metal wheel is...

I'm sorry, I don't mean to add FOD to this thread. But that lamp tickles me somewhere special. Who makes that? Please tell me it's not part of that desk - and can be had independently.

I like my light - and this time of year - sunlight isn't so abundant. So it's nice to have GOOD light at the workspace - but I want full spectrum.

Trust me on this - those "full spectrum" fluorescent lights are anything but. Low-voltage halogens pick up nicely where the FS CFLs leave off. (fluorescent isn't so great on the red / IR end of things)

For some reason, the high-voltage halogens don't seem as "crisp" as the 12V ones. So - those low voltage, or mains?

TIA.

Edit: This is one of 3 CFLs at my desk. It's a 3500K color temp, 23W CFL. And a halogen or two would be perfect in between them. The picture does no justice for color temps. (obviously) So I "adjusted" via preview until it appeared close to my eyes. It's a nice "white" - not blue or yellow. In the "sweet spot". Just need more red...

What base stands are you using for your RP5s? I have a pair of RP8s and need to find something for them.

So glad you are! :D Also, it's nice to see another MR'er using a 4:3 LCD.

Like I am:
The old beige thing is my latest retro gaming box, a Centris 610, decked out with 8MB RAM and a 120MB hard disk. it was given to me by a generous friend for my birthday.

welcome to the forums! NIIIICEEE setup! Love those old G4s! My main Mac right now is a blue and white G3/G4 at 500MHz now, they're still relevant in this age of C2D, eh? :D

I love the old G4s, the Dual 867 is still my main machine and works perfectly.

The dual 800 was thought to be broken but a re-seat of the Processor/Heatsink fixed it and now it works perfectly :) Figuring out what to do with it at the moment.
