You've never really used a good 19" Trinitron, have you? :p

EDIT: Wait, lost eden, was that price including shipping? I may have to get me one of those!
£98 including 24hr shipping. This is the sellers eBay shop & I whole-heartedly recomend him as a seller. I originally bought an IBM C220p but the couriers smashed it up & unfortunately reception signed for it blindly without even looking at it & noticing the damage, so I couldn't claim on the insurance. I contacted the seller & he offered to send me the P275 out of the kindness of his heart! Absolutely incredible guy.

The one thing I do not miss about CRTs is the adjustments--pin cushion, trapezoid, etc always drove me crazy. Change resolutions, then have to tweak the V/H offsets.

I've owned about 30 LCD panels in the last few years, and while some of them have been downright terrible, so were many of the CRTs.

I definitely don't miss the weight, the power usage, or the bulk of the CRTs though. Good luck putting a 30" CRT on your desk (the Sony 24" CRT was 150 lbs?). Especially in the SF Bay Area, where electric usage is not a linear price per KWHr. :)

I don't miss having my 21" Sony Trinitron for that very reason. I like to adjust my setup on occasion to tweak ergonomics or whatever, and I couldn't lift or move it myself. I'm in the process of getting rid of my CRT TV's for the same reason.

Here are a few more shots of my MacBook where it will be 90% of the time... on my bed.

Same here, on my bed or in Starbucks working on a paper hahaha. Another quick question Ryan, why did you get the white macbook vs. Black?

Because two crappy monitors are better then just one good one when you need more then one monitor. (I actually have 4 or 5 CRT's in storage that I rotate on a bi-monthly basis)

Um, yeah why do you do that? They are not tires...

Honestly if I ever wanted a second display I'd save my money for a ACD or use my HDTV.

I agree that moving flat twice this summer is going to be a whole lot less fun with 150kg+ (330lb+) of CRTs to move across town & up & down stairs, but as a poor student my primary concern with monitors is price & CRTs represent the best price/performance ratio by far (increased power usage isn't enough to make a comparable size/quality LCD a viable alternative!).

Slightly more on topic, doing upgrades (RAM, Leopard, etc.) on my girlfriend's MacBook whilst she's in Italy, so until she gets back I can pretend I have 2!

Mine on the right, hers on the left.

She obviously keeps her keyboard a fair bit cleaner than me (mine on the left). Though I do like how the US keyboard actually says 'option' on the option key whilst my UK one just has a cryptic squiggle. No wonder I got laughed at when I asked an American where the option key was!

This was what it was like when she handed it to me, the thing was swapping just to boot up;

Texas, unfortunately.
Why would you do that?

I like to think I'm giving them a workout. It seems so wasteful to throw them away, so I keep them. If they're taking up space like they tend to do, they're gonna get used.

My iBook G3 has a pinched inverter cable (meaning the backlight on its screen does not work) so for it to be useable at all, I have to have an external monitor. The one it's hooked up to was free, and the little mini-DVI-VGA adaptor was $5, so for that amount I went from a nearly worthless computer to a decent backup/folding machine. I don't use it very much (Maybe once a week when I backup with time machine on my G4) so I don't need a very nice monitor, so what's the point of buying an LCD for something I use maybe 30-50 times a year?

Why exactly is there duct tape one the palm rest on one of the MacBooks? Was there a large gap forming or something, or is it just for looks?

There is a slightly raised edge where his palms rest which can be a great annoyance to some. I know it bugged me whenever I typed on my macbook.

Not crazy over the black model. I mean it's nice and all, but I prefer the classic white. Plus, I got the base model so I would have to spent another $200 on something I didn't need.

Sort of, the front edge of the MacBook is really sharp, because it's so badly designed & produced. It's fine if you're typing from 'above' the level of the keyboard, but if you're typing from 'below' it cuts into your wrists really badly. I couldn't care less what my laptop looks like, so I slapped some duct tape onto it to soften it up.

My current setup, desk is a little too cluttered at the moment and the room is mid redecoration which is why some wallpaper is missing.

Nice setup (s) but you're going to become a human kebab if you don't edit your original post (posting 3 times..)

meh, 5 attachments per post limit. It is fine.

BTW I liked the chair in the corner with the cushion on it, what happened to it.

THanks....we moved it into the "formal" living room (as my gf likes to call it), but after me pulling up these photos and showing it to her we have both agreed to move it back where it belongs.

What's the little laptop on the shelf of the media center? I like your setups, by the way. Very nice.

Thank you. The laptop was a 12in PowerBook G4...one hell of a laptop if you ask me. It was great for grad school but it would hummm pretty loud when powering the Flat Screen Tv so I ultimately decided to upgrade to a MacBook Pro and a Mac Mini to power the TV (which is completely silent and a great lil comp for living room purposes in my opinion)

I just got a Nikon Coolpix 5000 for free and took pics of my computers. Here they are. By the way, the Thinkpad is not that freakishly thick, it's just on its dock. Powerbook is in its last day of use, I think. :(

Anyway, here they are.
