Ikea GRONO!!! Best lamp ever!

Grono seems to be a popular one on these boards :)

Also depends on function though, and what you use the lamp for. Personally, I can't really use a Grono since I don't like open light (non-shaded) flowing into my eyes. I also need a nice, traditional lamp for studying, writing, etc.

All this said, I just have one of these hanging from the ceiling a few feet above my desk:

I know, nobody digs the lamp. What do you suggest? I am open to anything....

I like the lamp you have. I have 2 Ikea Grono's (one on each side), and the light is far more ambient through the frosted glass than you'll get from a reflective metallic shade. I got the product suggested wattage for bulbs, btw.

If you prefer a calmer setting, and are only focused on the screen, the lighting of the Grono is perfect (imo). But if you need your lamp for reading books, etc., you may find it a bit too dim. :)

Swapped out the iPod and iPhone, add speakers and bought a new home!

New Pics:

I got the same lamp as you have, and I really like it I must say. It is like the metal lamp version from pixar. It might not look good on your setup but definatly keep it around. The Grono looks awesome btw.

I know I need to do some cable management, the dvi cable I'm using right now is too small. Anyway, my setup:

24" iMac 2.8 4gb
24" Benq LCD
17" Macbook Pro 2gb
10" eee pc 1000h 2gb
32gb 1st gen iPod Touch
9x12 Wacom Intuos3 Tablet

The eee pc is the most interesting. I picked it up recently for about 400 dollars and upgraded the ram to 2gb. It runs osx perfectly, quick bootup, no lag, great at multitasking between safari, itunes, iwork, etc and quartz extreme is enabled so spaces/expose/dashboard work flawlessly. I was even able to play WOW on it well but I don't plan on using it for that.

It also gets crazy battery life at 9 hours without wifi and around 6-7 with. I upgraded the battery to an 8800 mah. I'm thinking about eventually upgrading the hard drive to 320gb which can be found for around 100 dollars so I can use Front Row as a mobile media player too.

Thanks! I may look into something a little less industrial and a little more softer.

PIXAR! As stated above, I will go for something more soothing.

MacBook in my sig hooked up (VGA) to a 19" Samsung Syncmaster932MW which came with the room. Lovely screen aswell.

EyeTV for DTT & an Iomega Ultramax 500GB HD hidden behind to minimize the visibility of the mass of cables. No option but cables, I don't really care though.

Loving being able to watch HD movies on the TV whilst web browsing. MacBook can handle 1080p Casino Royale on the Samsung, with Firefox, Transmission, Adium & Time Machine backing up. Love it.

Nice dog. I've always wanted a bulldog. This might be off topic, but is it true it is really hard to care for a bulldog?

Sorry for the delayed reply! They aren't really "hard" to take care of, but they do require more attention than normal dogs. I clean his face wrinkles & bum under his tail every day or two. The work is totally worth it, they've got lots of personality and are awesome pets. I've wanted one for 15 years, and finally got my own :D

I like the sky light but you'll messed up your desk if you expose it to the sun like that.

Damn. Where'd you manage to pick up the 1000HD for $400? Is that US-only? I had to settle for an Acer Aspire One, which is still a great machine, but I think an Eee would have been nicer... unfortunately they aren't worth the extra $100-$200 around here.

I second that :) My bulldog hayden will be 2 in November and she's the best thing in my life. Always cracks me up, makes me smile and is the best nap buddy you could ask for! They do require a little more attention, like stated above, I clean Hayden every other night, wrinkles, tail, girlie bits, etc. And be prepared to pay higher vet bills (skin issues, allergies, etc) if you're going to bring home a bulldog. Do you're research and see if you're up for it.
