I like them a lot. My friend had them from a while ago and I always wanted a pair. I met a kid when I got to college who works at Best Buy here and he got me a sweet deal, so it only seemed right to take the plunge and get a set for myself.

The bass is amazing on them if you have it all the way up. The first day I got them, I had the people in the room below me come up and tell me that it was too loud (I didn't even have the volume half way).

And since I'm living in a dorm and probably will be in an apartment soon, I like how they are compact and sleek... so they fit well on my small desk, but still put out really good sound.

Im thinking of passing the old G5 down to my brother and buying the new 24" LED display. Not sure yet if it is really worth it.

Same old setup.:p
I see a lot of these G4 iBooks are still holding strong, I think they are one of the most resilient portables apple has ever made; internal hardware AND the plastic case. They could take a lot of abuse before failure. Props for keeping it around! I'm holding onto a 12" PB because it's just amazing and is still my favorite mac :p

Nothing fancy, but it gets the job done. I felt compelled to show another "messy" rig, but it's only messy from a wide angle. It looks pretty clean when I'm sitting at the desk. :p

Pictured:
Dual 450Mhz G4 w/ 250GB external HD running Tiger
IBM R52 in matching Advanced Dock running XP Pro
IBM T30 running Ubuntu (soon to be set up as a media server for the living room)
And my Early 2007 MBP for work running Leopard

In case anyone is wondering, I'm using Synergy to control the G4 and the R52 from one keyboard and trackball.

I know... not a Mac setup. But no one really looks at the Windows setup thread. You know I still love Mac OS X. Oh, and I've got the Apple keyboard, right?

No no no, you need extra lives?! For shame.

Thanks! I'm probably going to swap the Samsung and the Acer displays, since the Samsung's panel and picture are quite a bit better. I'm just a bit antsy about it because I sort of accidentally melted some of the plastic on the top of the Samsung with my Ikea lamp. I have NO idea why Ikea lamps produce so much damn heat. The diodes near the top of the LCD actually died temporarily. The plastic is warped for good. :( I'll need to cover it with a webcam or a speaker or something. Probably speakers, since mine are dying. I'll post new pictures when the speakers get set up!

Ouch! :( and I agree, the samsungs are much better quality displays overall than most others for the price. I have a 19" 920bw that still works great, but I'm looking to upgrade to a 24" sometime in the near future. Great setup :)

What model of Samsung is that? Would you recommend it? Does it have good response time (i.e for gaming)

Old school. I love it. :)
Thank you.:)

Definitely. I love this thing to death, and wouldn't trade it for anything. It's dependable, tough and fast considering its age. I hope I can keep using it for years to come. :)

Hold on to that PB for sure, it's an excellent machine that many people still use everyday, and even more who are looking for one because it's such a great machine.:apple:
'tis true the G4 had some video problems, but these were usually found in the earlier models. And I can tell you from experience, the G3's were much worse.:p

Can anyone help me; I am looking for a slim desk. It would need to be about 1 to 1 1/2 feet wide and decently long; about 8 feet or so.

Anyone know anything like that?

Yeah, I had a G3 and a G4, they both died after only one month of use. The G3 had the infamous video problem, and the G4 had a broken backlight inverter. :(
