Hey guys!

Here's the deal; I bought a 24" Dell monitor to connect to my Macbook at my desk when I needed a bigger screen. Later, I purchased the 24" iMac. For a while, I had the iMac on the furthest left of my desk, with the external monitor at a semi-slant on the right of my desk. However, once I got the speakers, I had to place them on either side of my iMac (they use proprietary USB cables, and thus can't reach anywhere else). So, I was forced to push the extra display to my left, on a dresser and wicker basket, about a foot closer. Basically, the Dell is useless in it's current position (other than when playing my Xbox 360).

I'd really, *REALLY* like to have both monitors set-up in a usable fashion; as I could really use the screen real estate. Too bad, though, I'm at a loss for how to do it. Does anybody have any ideas at all?

Thanks!

EDIT: Excuse the messy desk; it's normally not nearly that bad. However, I have two exams on Thursday, a quiz on Friday, and an essay due Monday... along with class scheduling to take care of. Lots of stress, ugh!

what about a usb extension cable for the speakers?

This is mine, its a bit messy still as I just moved my stuff onto a new desk and found that its a bit small, so I've improvised with a stall (stool , not sure) to hold my MacBook. The pictures a bit poor because of the iPhone's camera :|

Anyway the setup is:

Hack Semi-Pro
OS 10.5.5
Intel Xeon Dual Core 2.13GHz
3GB ECC RAM
250GB System Drive
1TB Media disk (2x 500GB disks Striped in OSX)
iMic Sound with JBL speakers
nVidia 8500GT 512MB Graphics
Linksys WMP300N wireless N card (OSX thinks its an Airport Extreme card :))
Hyundai 22" Monitor with DVI and VGA (which is good for a cheap monitor)
500GB Iomega disk/USB/Firewire hub (Media disk for my old Mac Mini, the Mac mini is with my sister now :()
320GB WD MyBook (Time machine for System drive)
LaCie External DVDRW

MacBook
2GHz C2D
2GB RAM
160GB HD

I want to get an Apple Wireless keyboard as that one is too wide. The Dell mouse I'm using is comfortable though so that will probably stay... I'm also looking for a 2 5.25" to 3 SATA bay converter as my disk needs seem to grow each month.

I tried Ubuntu on the Dell, I really did, but it just wasn't working how OSX does for me at home, so thats why I put OSX on there. I can't afford a Mac Pro.

We have a few of those stools at home, but admittedly not to store macbooks on! :p

I see you like your hard drive space! ...and i would agree about Ubuntu, i mean its ok but it just isn't as user friendly and compatible as OSX or even as XP! When something went wrong, i found the online documentation to be very unhelpful too. Ah well, all i have is a macbook now and thats great for me!

Indeed I do, I don't like much on tv but there are a few shows that I really like, I stream video from there to my XBOX 360 in the lounge, and my sister lives in the flat beneath me and gets video streamed to her PS3.

Don't get me wrong, Linux is awesome as a server, but using it for a workstation it isn't quite right.

About time I updated this!

This has been my setup for the last 2.5 years or so. Taken with iPhone, so image quality not great.

Aww for the Powerbook? I'm more likely to say "hot" in regards to the wallpaper. Who is that, anyway?

Lol, to be honest, I can't remember now, that picture was taken in 2005.

In a freakish feat of memory, though, I can remember I got it off deviantart.com, and I responded to a question posed by another macrumors member with a link, using my old username, _pb_boi

:)

So, why did you change your username? If you don't mind me asking, that is.
