About time I updated this!

This has been my setup for the last 2.5 years or so. Taken with iPhone, so image quality not great.

Very little change from my previous setup a few years back (everybody say aww for the 12in Powerbook) :)

It's more like a.. hubba hubba to the 12inch powerbook :D:D

:D Awesome, aren't they?

I replaced the battery about 9 months ago. Gets 20 hours continuous playback now, easily - better than new!

I love the firewire interface - keeps USB ports free, and it's 20GB, which is more than my lovely iPhone. There's something about this model. Probably because it was my first ever Apple product. I have the original buds, remote, dock, cable, instructions and box. Love this thing!

Cleaned up a bit and made my PC and MBP have 2 desktops that make 1 image.

You can't see the Aperture Laboratories poster above my setup, but you can see my ApLabs mug on my desk. Also in view: iPhone on the left, nerf gun/darts on the right, my awesome LED lamps and communist Kirby.

I have 4 DCs and 2 Saturns. Loads of ace import titles too.
Again, kudos :)

no offense to all you 3rd gen ipod lovers... but are ya blind? It's by far the ugliest ipod ever made (not to mention the least functional)!

The thing is beautiful.

& how exactly is it least functional? The all touch interface is genius, and its so much better than the click wheel. Click wheel you have to move to the button you want to press, with the 3G you can touch the button, back on the scroll wheel.

And the cheap clicky noise of the click wheel totally puts me off. The 3G feels solid yet elegantly designed... superb iPod. GUTTED mine was only 20GB and distraught with it's death :(

Hahahahhaha!

3rd gen has always been loved for its beauty. But hey beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I think you are in the minority here, because from all my internet reading, the 3rd gen has always been touted for its looks. No annoying and boring click wheel. Glass like exterior. Nice glow. Nice size. Even the interface. Personally I hate the new split screen.

Sorry to be off topic, but I just had to. Maybe we should start a 3rd gen Appreciation thread in the Ipod section.

I miss my 3G. I think it was one of the nicer looking iPods, but I can't agree that it was as functional as the 4G onwards, with the Click Wheels. Touch sensitive = must use heat-capacitive digit/finger/penis whatever to press a button. It was a bitch using during the winter when I was wearing gloves.

The same can be said for the iPod touch/iPhone, but at least the touchscreen is a part of the core functionality of the device instead of just "ooh lookit, it's touch-sensitive" as in the 3G.

I agree. I love the design of the sixth gen the best.

You know the click sound can easily be gotten rid of, right? Though I agree with you, when someone leaves it on it's a gigantic pain in the ass.

I think he means, when you actually want to get somewhere, you have to press a mechanical button that gives off the click.

Oh. I don't have a problem with that, I actually like a few physical buttons so you know what you're hitting. Plus, depending on the age of the iPod, you can't even hear the wheel. Mine is a year old sixth gen and you can only hear the wheel if you're really paying attention in a quiet place. Otherwise, who really cares?

Haha I think the point is...some people do.

You may not have a problem with it, but maybe other people do. It's a big world out there and our preferences make us unique!
