Here is my humble setup at school:

First pic:

15 inch powerbook, iPod mini, ATI remote wonder, books, etc
(My desk is so close to the wall that I had to stand on my chair to get my whole desk in the picture  )

Second pic:

Toshiba flat tube TV, xbox, playstation 2, airport express to Klipsch 5.1 (only 3 satellites pictured)

G5 replaced G4 two days ago

and it's a quiet one, thankfully. Also the two 1GB memory sticks I added yesterday are recognized and working well. Due to the case design it's very easy to do, though I wouldn't want to tackle much else inside this tight case.

One under-appreciated iMac G5 feature if how it helps to organize wires on the back of the machine, through the central stand hole for main power, if you so desire. That helped a lot here.

I rearranged the edit suite... so here's the new setup. Excuse the mess--it's actually usually much neater (believe it or not).

Heres my combo drive 1.25GHz eMac, pretty much out of the box, though it has a 80gb HD not 40
Will be upgrading the memory soon, 256 is really cramped.

I've always liked how people put their Macs on top of their desk, and they put their garbage (sometimes spelled PC) right next to the garbage can under the desk. :D

I do a course called "New Media Production" which involves the following:

3D modelling & animation
Film editing
Graphic design
Flash animation
Web design

Its a pretty cool course :)

Good luck for this october and hope you have all the stuff you mentioned!

Thanks for the comments guys

Is it just me or does nobody have the 17" powerbook. I would think it would be a great option for someone at college who wants a desktop replacment without an external moniter?

I still cant decide what to get for college. Ive been thinking either:

15" pb maxed out with a dell 2005fpw external moniter

17" pb maxed out

12" pb maxed out with a 20" display

might be smart to get the smaller notebooks with a moniter so that when faster and faster G5's come out I can just get one as the pb starts getting out datted. But the 17" would be so clean and nice. I just dont know.

12" PB maxed out with a 20" display - you can use your notebook with its small yet usable display and then when you get home you can hook it up to a massive display and be happy!

i shall also be starting university in october this year, and have to make more choices in terms of computers.

im thinknig that all my hardware for university would include:

my current ipod, PB and display :D
either an imac G5 or a PMG5 (single 1.8)
wireless KB & M
iPod photo
external lacie HD
a large USB and firewire hub

not that i need all that :D

my course will be air transport engineering and operations.
