Nope! :D Neither are the speakers....Harman Kardon...

And you can see the (*&^*%^ monitor they sent me...supposed to be flat-screen, what it really is is a flat outer screen then curved like any monitor back behind!!!  (One of these days I'm gonna call and demand a 2405FPW as replacement  )

I think technically, your screen IS a flat screen monitor. They usually say that for CRT's that have a flat surface. They will say LCD for when it is an.....LCD.

I think what he meant was that they advertised a "flat tube"--you know, a CRT with a flat tube--but rather, the monitor had a round tube and, basically, a (flat) piece of glass in front of it.

But who would keep an old calendar when they can buy the new version with new pics?

Thats the reasoning behind why he flipped to June

I'm not allowed to hang pics of girls on my walls :(

Someday... college dorm... lol

I've always wondered why the USB ports on the iBook are on the left side. One of the rare times when left-handed people have it better.

and i like my USB ports being on the left of my PB and my optical drive on the right. I use the iCurve so my PB is hangin out over to the right of my keyboard/mousepad so it is easily accessable for my iPod dock, my USB mouse and my USB cardreader. You can see pics of what i'm talking about here in the bottom left corner.

well, odds are, and if hes like me this is a definite, he's a poor college student who can't even afford a new calendar, so he just keeps last june up... and i mean, besides, motive or not, it adds to the room of a college student :) and along with that... iCal works good enough anyway

Don't really have any recent pictures of my setup here at school, but I have a shot of my set up when i go home.

I know the walls are a tad bit barren, but I didn't invest on two sets of posters- they're all at school at the moment. ;)

Actually I am still in high school...:O

Oh, and if I had bothered to tilt the camera up a little bit more, you would have seen March 2005's girl...Anna Kournikiva... :D

My Dorm room setup

Here is my college dorm room setup featuring the 15 inch Powerbook G4. I am currently working on getting a 20 or 23 inch cinema display. Any suggestions are welcomed.

... even thought you can get a different brand LCD (i think DELL were having some good deals), like a DELL 23" for cheaper than a 20" Cinema Display...

I suggest getting a dell 20" instead of the ACD. I have a 2005fpw, and I love it. You don't want to tempt theives in your dorms with a beautiful ACD, and you could use the extra cash on tuition or beer, depending on your preference.

when i stayed on campus my desk was on the same wall as the door, so you had to walk a solid 5 feet in the room to see what kind of equipment i was working with... as far as saving money for tuition and beer --> Uncle Sam and my fellow tax payers are helping me through school and the part time job covered the beer...

well, im goin to college here pretty soon aswell, and initially I was going to get a 17" powerbook and use it as a desktop replacement since for my first two years of college are going to be at a small school. I wouldnt want to take it to class, leaving no need for portability other then when I go home for breaks. Then I started thinking about maybee getting a 15" pb incase I do end up wanting to take it to class(still very unlikely though) and for the fact that I thought the 17" began to look a little wierd to me. I was thinking id get the 15", and plug it into a 2005fpw. Then I started to think about how I really like typing on the powerbooks and how an external screen would take up clutter space. so then finally I started thinking about just getting a 15". Would I eventually regret doing that? So what should I do?

12" is not an option, its too little for on the road use for me, and I lik the widescreens and backlit keyboards.

i've got a 15" PowerBook - it's all good. i've been taking this to and from college for a few years (i first had a 15" TiBook, now a 15" AlBook) and it's an excellent size - fits in very well with a A4 size notebook or folder. i've been using it for PhotoShop/graphics work and the screen size has been good for that.

i would maybe only recommend the 17" if you're doing some heavy video editing/FX work. i've started doing that and i could really use the space of a 2nd screen.

the 15" is very portable and a nice size to work with. i'd say it's "just right". :) (just max it out with 128MB VRAM and as much RAM as you can. i've got 1.5GB - but why not max it out with 2GB. :p)

hi guys,

here is my desktop in all its glory.....my ibook is currently getting repaired at apple for bad memory modules. :(

but here you go....see my sig for details.

Here's my new setup at the dorm now that my gf has my p'book.

My external drive is hidden in the drawer behind the keyboard and didn't make it into the picture. It's difficult to get a decent picture, because my desk is literally 3 feet from a wall. The speaker on the right is a satellite to my 5.1 system that is hooked up to my airport express, dvd player, and xbox.

Enjoy

That's a 1TB Lacie Bigger Disk Extreme in back of the 23" and 17" LCDs, and a Wiebetech 400GB FW RAID box on top of the DP Power Mac G5.

How much space total do you have, and how much is filled???

1 TB + 400 + Internal Drive...

Is that 2005FPW or 2405FPW?

Let's see...
My internal 160GB (149.1GB) drive has 103GB available, the 400GB (379.8) drive has 86.7GB available, the 1TB (931.5GB) drive has 755.3GB available, the 120GB (111.8GB) drive has 111.6GB available and the 160GB (152.7GB) drive has 69.6GB available. (The last two FW drives aren't in the picture.)

So that makes 1840GB (1724.9GB) total space, with 598.7GB of it filled and 1126.2GB available.

As I finish up editing and DVD projects more space opens up, but I'm about to online 7 hours of HDV footage from 35 hours of raw footage, save an HD master and create a dual-layer DVD (writing to DLT tapes), so I'll need all the space I have for that.
